Picture Cue Task

PICTURE-CUED TASK

Directions: To check your speaking fluency, you are tasked to narrate a story based on the given
picture. You will have 30 seconds to look at the picture prompt and then you will have 2-3 minutes to
narrate your story.

Scoring Criteria:

 Compose a message and provide ideas and information suitable to the topic, purpose, and
audience (Generate a specific narrative relevant to the context; Demonstrate careful choice of
words appropriate to the topic, purpose, audience and context; Provide effective and clear
transitions) - 10 points

 Use delivery skills suitable to the topic, purpose, and audience (employ vocal variety in rate,
pitch, and intensity; articulate clearly; employ language appropriate to the designated audience)
- 10 points

 Use interpersonal skills suitable to the context and the audience (demonstrate appropriate
interpersonal skills; display self-awareness as communicator; Use a conversational mode
through self-presentation and response to feedback) - 10 points
