Wifi Jammer: Winter Semester 2020-21 Analog Circuits Ece 2028

The document describes the design and working of a WiFi jammer circuit. It consists of three main parts: 1) an RF amplifier to amplify the generated signal, 2) a noise circuit using capacitors to generate noise, and 3) a tuning circuit using an inductor and capacitor to generate the WiFi frequency of 2.4GHz or 5GHz. When combined, the circuit generates interference noise at the WiFi frequency, blocking the WiFi signal within a range of about 40 meters. Jammers are used to block wireless signals in areas requiring wireless security such as government offices and military installations.

Brief Description:

Our WiFi works on some range of frequencies. When in these

frequencies same range of frequency noise is added then mobile
communication fails or gets disturbed.

WiFi works at the frequency of 2.4GHz frequency. To block this

2.4GHz frequency, we also need to generate 2.4GHz frequency with
some noise which will act as simple blocking signal, because cell
phone receiver will not be able to understand to which signal it has
been received. By this, we can able to block the cell phone signal
from reaching the cell phones.

To increase the range of frequency you should change the values of

22nH inductor and 15 pF capacitor as you reduce the values of these
two components range of frequency will increase.

To find how much range of frequency your circuit will produce use
the formula F=1/(2*pi*sqrt(LC))
Jammer Circuits:

Jammer circuit produces the high-frequency signal which will confuse

the receiver of the particular system from receiving the signal, even
though circuit is working properly, user of the system feels that circuit
is not working properly. This type of high frequency signal generation
through jammer is called noise and the circuit is called jammer
because it will mix the main signal with noise signal.

Similarly, WiFi jammers will create noise to block a WiFi connection

and prevent people with a Wifi-enabled device from connecting to a
3G,4G,GPRS or Cordless WiFi network.

Where are Jammers Used?

Jammers are a signal blocking device which transmits synchronized

radio waves at the same frequency as a device like a cell phone or
WiFi in order to blur its signal.

Jammers are mainly used to render these devices useless and are
being used by companies and individuals with increasing frequency

WiFi Jammers are favored by companies who deal with sensitive

information to prevent leaks. The 5GHz WiFi jammer is effective up
to 40 meters and will block WiFi and phone signal in a fixed space.

Normally jammers are used in government offices in some countries,

but jammers are mainly used by military, navy, air force and entire
defense systems. People will not use jammers everywhere, but they
use in selected places and highly confidential meetings, gathering etc.
Working Principle:

WiFi signals mainly operates on two frequency bands namely:

1. 2.4GHz

2. 5GHz.

In WiFi Jammer, to block WiFi signal we need to generate either

2.4GHz or 5GHz (depends on frequency band operating) signal with
some noise which acts as a blocking signal. By this, receiver cannot
understand to which signal it has been received. In this way, we can
block WiFi Signal.

RF Amplifier circuit will amplify the signal generated by the tuned

circuit. When the transistor is turned ON, the tuned circuit at the
collector will get turned ON. Tuned circuit will act as an oscillator
with zero resistance. This oscillator or tuned circuit will produce the
very high frequency with minimum damping. The both inductor and
capacitor of tuned circuit will oscillate at its resonating frequency.

( LC oscillations concept) The oscillations will till an internal

resistance is generated and oscillations will get stop. The capacitors
C2 and C3 are used for generating the noise for the frequency
generated by the tuned circuit. Capacitors C2 and C3 will generate the
electronic pulses in some random fashion (technically called noise).
Reference Circuit Diagram:

There are three main important circuits. When they are combined
together, the output of that circuit will work as a jammer. The three
circuits are

1. RF amplifier.

2. noise circuit

3. Tuning circuit.

In this circuit, R2, C1, C4 and C5 constitute the RF amplifier circuit.

Noise Circuit consists of capacitors C2 and C3.

The tuned circuit consists of capacitor C1 and inductor L1.

Circuit Diagram:

We used oscilloscope instead of antenna to record the distortion of the

signal.

Oscilloscopes (or scopes) test and display voltage signals as

waveforms, visual representations of the variation of voltage over
time. The signals are plotted on a graph, which shows how the signal
changes.

An Oscilloscope can be used to take measurements for a number of

different applications – one of which is frequency.

Brief Conclusion:

In this way, we notice the working of Wifi Jammer with same

frequency signal added to it.

So here in the above circuit, we generated the 450 MHz frequency to

block the actual cell phone signal. That’s what the above circuit will
act as a jammer for blocking the actual signal.

This circuit can be used in TV transmission and also for remote

controlled toys or play things.

This circuit can Block signals within 100 metres distance.

Power supply should be in range of 3-5V.
