Preventing High Blood Pressure

Summary:

As an immediate conclusion to the internet article I have read, a person will help keep his or her
blood pressure in a stable range by leading a healthy lifestyle. High blood pressure, also known as
hypertension, may increase the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Eating a healthy diet helps manage your blood pressure, you should limit the amount of sodium
(salt) that you eat and increase the amount of potassium in your diet. It is also important to eat foods that
are lower in fat, as well as plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. One can prevent high blood
pressure and its risks when they choose safe meal and snack choices. Make a point of eating a variety of
fresh fruits and vegetables.

Being at a healthy weight range can also help one’s cause in avoiding high blood pressure. Being
overweight or having obesity increases your risk for high blood pressure. Maintaining a healthy weight
can help you control high blood pressure and reduce your risk for other health problems.

Next, physical exercise may aid in the maintenance of a healthy weight and the reduction of
blood pressure. Exercise can help you maintain a healthy weight and lower your blood pressure. You
should try to get moderate-intensity aerobic exercise at least 2 and a half hours per week, or vigorous-
intensity aerobic exercise for 1 hour and 15 minutes per week.

Having enough sleep is important for your overall wellbeing, as well as for the health of your
heart and blood vessels. Heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke are all related to not having
enough sleep on a regular basis. Also, learning how to relax and manage stress can improve your
emotional and physical health and lower high blood pressure. Stress management techniques include
exercising, listening to music, focusing on something calm or peaceful, and meditating.

Reaction:

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, increases the risk of experiencing a variety of
serious health issues. As nurse educators, we also have to educate our patients and the community as well
to practice living a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent from acquiring illnesses. Doing this would elicit
favorable results geared towards a healthier condition. It is also important to note that we cannot teach
and encourage them to do so if we are not practicing it on our own.
