Directions for use:

Following is an outline of the worksheets included in this unit and suggestions for use.

1. Autumn tree alphabet match - upper to lower case letters (6 pages)

Children match the upper case letter to the correct lower case letter. They can use dot
paints for this activity, or simply colour or circle the correct match.

2. Autumn leaves missing letters cut and paste (2 pages)

Children cut out the letters from the bottom of the page and paste them in the correct
spot to complete each letter sequence.

3. Pumpkin letter and word sorting - cut and paste

Children cut out the letters and words from the bottom of the page and paste them in the
correct column.

4. Autumn how many words in a sentence? (with and without counting dots)
Children count the words in each sentence. For children finding this difficult, I have also
included a page with counting dots.

5. Autumn beginning sounds (2 pages)

Children determine the beginning sound for each word and colour a circle to show their
answer.

6. Autumn syllables (2 pages)

Children say the name of each picture and show how many syllables each word contains by
colouring the correct circle. Dot paints can also be used for this worksheet.

7. Autumn beginning blends

Children determine the beginning blend for each word and colour a circle to show their
answer.
8. Squirrel and acorns word families cut and paste (5 pages)
Children cut the word tiles from the bottom of the page and paste them next to the
correct word family squirrel.

9. Autumn rhyming cut and paste

Children say the name of the pictures in each box and find the rhyming match at the
bottom of the page.

10. Pumpkin primer sight word matches

Children colour the pumpkins that contain the focus primer sight word. This page can be cut
in half to work on only a specific word.

11. Autumn pictures to sentence match cut and paste

Children read the basic sentence and demonstrate comprehension by pasting the matching
picture next to the it.

12. Autumn write the missing sight words

Children use the picture clues in the first box to work out what the sentence is about. They
then complete each of the sentences by writing the most suitable sight word from the top
box on each line.

13. Autumn reading comprehension booklet and question page

Book assembly is required by cutting each page in half, stacking in order and then stapling
together on the left side where indicated. Children read a short story and answer the
comprehension questions by colouring the correct circle.

14. Autumn build-a-word vocabulary booklet (11 words)

Assembly is required by cutting each page in half, then stapling together on the left side
where indicated. Make sure NOT to cut off the section with the letter tiles! (Children need
that section to build the word on the page.) Children trace the word on the page, build it
using the letter tiles and then colour the picture.

Children cut out the squares from the bottom of the page and arrange them in order (1
to 5 and 6 to 10) to reveal the hidden picture.

4. Autumn patterns AB, AAB, AABB, ABC (4 pages)

Children cut and paste the pictures to complete the patterns.

5. Autumn count and graph (4 pages); count, tally and graph (1 page)
Children count the objects, tally them in the space provided, and then record their findings
on the graph.

6. Autumn making 10 worksheets (2 pages)

Children count the objects in each ten frame, work out how many more are needed to
make 10 and then complete the addition equation.

7. Acorn addition worksheets with pictures (to 10) (5 pages)

This is a set of basic addition worksheets up to the sum of 10. Children can use the pictures
to help them work out the equation, or you can provide them with a ten frame or another
manipulative of your choice.
8. Pumpkin odd and even number sorting cut and paste (5 pages)
Children cut and paste the numbers in the correct box to show which ones are odd and
even.

9. Autumn non-standard measurement

Children measure the pictures on the page using the leaf measuring strip provided.

10. Autumn weight

Children colour one of 2 pictures to show which object is heavier.

INTRODUCTION
About this book:
This book contains a collection of games and activities intended for use in centers and small
groups with children in Kindergarten (Prep).
Each activity includes a center label that can be printed and placed on the front of your
storage device. Also included are “I can” center instructions to help children remember what
to do. I have included a recording page at the end of each activity in order to have
evidence of each child’s work.

Directions for use:

1. Autumn / Fall write & wipe alphabet
To prepare the cards for use in a write and wipe center, print, laminate them, and then cut
them apart. The intention of this activity is for children to practice correct letter formation
with a dry-erase marker. The cards can be kept in a book-like format by making a hole in
the top left corner and securing together with a key ring or a pipe-cleaner.

2. Pumpkin sorting letters and pre-primer sight words

To prepare the activity, print the pages, laminate them for durability and cut out all the
pieces. The aim is for children to sort the different pumpkins to the baskets.

3. Autumn / Fall tree upper and lower case Clip It!

To prepare this activity for use, print the cards, laminate them and then cut them apart.
Household pegs, or other small clipping items such as unused hair clips or paper clips, can
be used for this activity. The aim is for children to match the upper case letter to the
correct lower case letter, and then record their answers on the sheet provided.

4. Missing letters: autumn / fall leaves

To prepare the cards for use, print, laminate and cut apart. Children are required to
identify the missing letter and place it in the empty box.

5. Autumn / Fall beginning sounds Clip It!

Print, laminate and cut out the picture cards and the small letter cards. The aim of this
activity is for children to correctly identify the beginning sound of each picture and to clip a
clothes peg to show their answer. Alternatively, children can use dry-erase markers to
colour the correct beginning sound.
6. Autumn / Fall write the room
To prepare this activity, print, laminate and cut out all the vocabulary cards. Place the
cards randomly around the room. Provide your children with a clip board with the recording
page/s. The aim is for children to find the picture cards and write the word next to the
matching picture on their recording page.

7. Squirrel and acorn word family sort

To prepare this activity, print, laminate and cut apart the sorting mats and word cards. The
aim is for children to identify the ending of each word and sort it to the correct word family
mat.

8. Autumn / Fall syllables Clip It!

9. Autumn / Fall leaves primer sight words

To prepare this activity for use, print the cards, laminate them and then cut them apart.
The aim of this activity is for children to spell the various primer sight words using the letters
provided or you may provide them with small magnetic or Scrabble letters.

To prepare the cards for use in a write and wipe center, print and laminate them, and then
cut them apart. The aim of this activity is for children to practice correct number formation
with a dry-erase marker. The cards can be kept in a book-like format by making a hole in
the top left corner and securing together with a key ring or a pipe-cleaner.

2. Autumn / Fall count and clip cards

Print, laminate and cut out the picture cards. The aim of this activity is for children to count
the objects on the cards and to clip a clothes peg on the correct number. Alternatively,
children can use dry-erase markers to colour the correct number.

3. Missing pumpkin numbers (1-20)

To prepare this write and wipe activity, print, laminate and cut out all the cards. You may
like to make a hole in the top left hand corner of each card and secure all the cards
together with a key ring, pipe cleaner or ribbon. The aim is for children to identify the
missing number on each card and write it using a dry-erase marker.

4. Build an autumn / fall pattern (AB/ABB/AAB/ABC)

To prepare for use print and laminate all the pages. The aim of this activity is for children
to build a pattern following the example from one of the cards. They then need to decide
which picture goes in the empty square to complete the pattern.
5. Autumn / Fall count and graph (1-5)
To prepare this activity, print and laminate the cards. The aim is for children to count and
represent their findings on the graph by colouring the appropriate number of squares with
an erasable marker or crayon.

6. Coloured pencil tally mark match

To prepare the cards for use, print, laminate and cut out the tally marks and number cards.
The aim is for children to count the tally marks and match them to the correct numeral.

7. Autumn / Fall number puzzles (1-10)

Print, laminate and cut the puzzles into pieces, storing each puzzle in a separate bag. The
aim is for children to arrange the puzzle pieces in numerical order to reveal the picture.

8. Acorn addition: making 10 on a ten frame

You will need to supply tokens or small objects to use for this activity. To prepare for use,
print, laminate and cut out the cards. The aim is for children to work out how many more
objects are needed to make 10 by filling the empty squares with small cubes. They then
complete the addition equation at the bottom of the card by writing how many acorns were
on the card and how many items were added to make 10.

9. Pumpkin odd and even sorting (1-100)

Print and laminate all the pages and then cut the number cards apart. The aim is for
children to sort the number cards to the correct mat to show whether it is an odd or even
number.

10. Autumn / fall non standard measurement

To set up for use, print and laminate the cards for durability, then cut along the white lines
to separate the cards. Print and laminate the leaf strips. The aim is for children to use the
strip of leaves to measure along the arrow from one line to the other line. For a challenge,
you can use other items such as coins, small erasers, token and counters, etc.

11. Autumn / Fall sort by size

To set up for use, print and laminate the sorting mats and cards, then cut them apart. The
aim is for children to sort the picture cards to the correct size mat.

12. Squirrel and acorn colour words

To prepare for use, print, laminate and then cut out the squirrels and acorns. The of this
activity is for children to find all the acorns of the same colour and then arrange them to
spell the colour word on the squirrel’s tummy.
13. Autumn / Fall leaves clip the shape cards
Print, laminate and cut out the cards. The aim of this activity is for children to determine
the shape of the leaf and clip a clothes peg to show their answer. Alternatively, children
can use dry-erase markers to colour the correct shape.

14. Fruit and vegetable sorting

To prepare this activity for use, print and laminate the sorting mats and cards, then cut
them apart. The aim is for children to sort the picture cards to the correct category mat.

About this book:
This packet contains:
- a word list to go inside a student binder or inside a file-folder
- large classroom word wall cards (optional background: colour or white)
- thematic word work pages
- blank pages for you to write your own words

Classroom word walls are a fantastic tool for learning new vocabulary. It is also beneficial to equip
each child with a personal word list so that they can add their own words to it and keep it when the
seasonal words are removed from the classroom wall. A copy of the words can also be kept in the
word work or writing centre.

Directions for use:

Personal word list
Print the pages included the first section of this packet, put them inside plastic sleeves and then into
student binders. Alternatively, the pages can be glued into a notebook. If you would like your students
to order the words alphabetically, have them cut the words and paste them accordingly into their
books. Blank squares have been included so that students can add their own words.

Word work or writing centre file-folder word list

Print the cover page and paste it on the front of the folder. Print the word list pages included in the
first section of this packet and paste them on the middle pages of the folder. Print the Word Work
Task page and glue it on the back of the folder - please note this should only be used if you intend to
use the worksheets I have provided.

Classroom word wall cards

Print your desired set, with or without background, along with the title page. Cut out the vocabulary
cards you wish to use and laminate them for durability. Display them on your classroom wall.

About this book:
This book contains a collection of Autumn vocabulary picture scramble puzzles and some
sight word picture scramble pages intended for use with children in Kindergarten (Prep)
and Grade 1.

Directions for use:

The aim of this resource is for children to cut the pictures along the dotted lines and then
to order them correctly to spell the focus thematic or sight word. Children are also required
to write the word that they have built several times.

Tip: If using a liquid glue, I recommend that children begin by colouring the pictures in the
boxes. They may not be able to make out exactly what the image will be, or which colours to
use and how to match them between the boxes, but it will be more difficult colour the
pictures after gluing! Of course, if using a glue stick, children can colour the images after
they have glued them in the correct order!

About this book:
This seasonal vocabulary half-page booklet has been created to help students learn new
words.

Directions for use:

The booklet is quite versatile. I have listed a few ways in which it can be used below:

1. Personal vocabulary booklets: To assemble, print the pages you wish to use, cut them in
half and staple together. Alternatively, have your students put the pages in alphabetical
order before stapling.
To complete the page, students trace the vocabulary word in focus and then write it on the
line provided. I have also included extra writing lines (which can be photocopied to the back
of each page) if you would like your students to create sentences with the words. Once
completed, students can then colour the pictures.
This can be done as a whole class activity or in small groups.

2. Collaborative classroom booklet: If you choose to do this, you will end up with 2 booklets
- use one this year and save the other for the following year. Give each student only one
page to work on using the ideas suggested above. Once completed, collect the pages and
staple them together to make a classroom booklet.

3. Homework: Select a few pages, print them and send them home with your students to
work on during the week.

The aim of this center activity is for children to match the upper and lowercase

To prepare the activity for use:

Directions for use:

To assemble the flip books, cut out each rectangle, then along the lines of the bottom rectangle. Make sure that the top rectangle is
left intact as it will form the base for the flip book! Arrange the “flips” (pages) one on top of the other and staple them to the base.
Students will have lots of fun reading their flip books over and over again to friends and family! Once children have finished reading

Directions for use:

There are a couple of ways in which the contents of this unit can be used to target the different learning levels of students:

1. Sentence Scramble Center: Print the word/picture cards (p. 5-13) and laminate them for durability. Cut along the dotted lines to
separate them. Each one is numbered to show the ones that belong together in a sentence. The aim is for children to arrange the cards
to build a sentence, and then complete the corresponding cut and paste sheet from the first set of worksheets (p. 14-34).

2. Cut and Paste Word Work: This activity (p. 35-55) is an easier alternative for children who cannot yet build sentences
independently; they use the sentence on each page as a guide to order the words correctly. Using the word/picture cards for this
activity is optional; set up is as outlined above.

The worksheets in this book can be used while working with the entire class, in small groups, or individually. They can also be assigned as
homework for additional practice to reinforce sight words and vocabulary learnt in the classroom.
