1. Strengthen faculty development through seminars, training, and scholarship grants.
2. Continuously provide directions on the field of education through coordination with the DEPED.
3. Provide student access to modern educational technology: speech laboratory, media center, and internet
4. Develop the physical environment into a desirable breeding of talents.
5. Prepare facilities for definite activities in the practice of strategies.
6. Provide linkages with other teacher education colleges.

Course Description:

Purposive Communication is a three-unit course that develops students’ communicative competence and enhances their cultural and intercultural
awareness through multimodal tasks that provide them opportunities for communicating effectively and appropriately to a multicultural audience in a local
or global context. It equips students with tools for critical evaluation of a variety of texts and focuses on the power of language and the impact of images to
emphasize the importance of conveying messages responsibly. The knowledge, skills and insights that students gain from this course may be used in their
other academic endeavors, their chosen disciplines, and their future careers as they compose and produce relevant oral, written, audio-visual and/or
web-based output for various purposes.

Course Outcomes:
1. Understand the nature and the processes of communication;
2. Realize the importance of addressing diversity issues to cope with globalization trend;
3. Can convey ideas through oral, audio-visual, and/or web-based presentations for different target audiences in local and global settings using
appropriate registers;
4. Appreciate the importance of technology as one of the avenues of communication;
5. Evaluate messages and images of different type of texts
6. Value the importance of communication for work purposes;
7. Apply the principles of public speaking; and
8. Recognize and apply the principle of communication for academic purposes.

Course Outcomes
Students can explain how cultural and global issues affect communication and convey ideas through oral, audio-visual, and/or web-based
presentations for different target audiences in local and global settings using appropriate registers. They will also appreciate the impact of communication on
society and the world.

Course Objectives:
Knowledge
1. Describe the nature, elements, and functions of verbal and non-verbal communication in various and multicultural contexts
2. Explain how cultural and global issues affect communication
3. Determine culturally appropriate terms, expressions, and images
4. Evaluate multimodal texts critically to enhance receptive (listening, reading, viewing) skills
5. Summarize the principles of academic text structure

1. Convey ideas through oral, audio-visual, and /or web-based presentations for different target audiences in local and global settings using
appropriate registers
2. Create clear, coherent, and effective communication materials
3. Present ideas persuasively using appropriate language registers, tone, facial expressions, and gestures
4. Write and present academic papers using appropriate tone, style, conventions, and reference styles

Course Requirements:

In order to pass this course, you must:


1.Answer all the assessment tasks at the end of every chapter;
2. Participate in the course forums for every chapter and/or lesson;
3. Submit the required output of the course;
4. Achieve a passing mark in the major examinations; and
5. Gain in-depth understanding of the concepts through research, course readings and course tasks.

Online Quizzes (10%)


At the end of every chapter, an online quiz will be administered. The quiz will be administered synchronously. Meaning, it will be administered in
the same date and time as agreed by the class. Thus, you are encouraged to ensure the stability of your internet connection especially during
examinations.

Course Forums (20%)


There are 5 Course Forums all throughout the course. Twenty percent (20%) of your grade will be coming from the forums. Thus, you are
encouraged to participate in all the forums.

Module Output (30%)


There will be five (5) modules for the course. Each module should be passed on the scheduled date. Content and timeliness will be considered
in grading the output. It is a must that students should answer the modules with dedication and seriousness.

Midterm/Final Examination (40%)


A Midterm Examination will also be administered. As mentioned, this exam will be administered and given at the same time to all learners. This includes
the topics that were covered by Week 1 to 3. Questions will be coming from the course forum discussions, course reading and other course materials
provided by the instructor.

Rating = (Score Obtained/Highest Possible Score) x 50 +50
Step 2- The True Final Grade (TFG) will be determined by adding all the equivalent percentage of the four course requirements
