Key Terms and Concepts in Managing and Implementing Standards-Based Grammar Teaching

Grammaring- the process of doing grammar is grammaring. Larsen freeman says that grammaring can
be seen as fifth skill.

Grammaticalization- process of language change, by which word representing an object or action and
such as verbs and nouns, transform into a grammatical marker such as prepositions inffix and affixes

Error correction- performed by the teaching personnel probably by the teacher to help their students
identify their grammar mistakes.

-allows students to realize their error

vs. feedback – allows the teachers to comment on a student.

-allows them to be fully aware of their performance in school.

Grammatical assessment- another fundamental aspect of teaching, because it helps the teacher to
determine the student’s proficiency in a language.

Summative assessment and the- conducted after the lessons or the topics

formative assessment- conducted during the class, during the lesson ex, what are they opinions on this
certain issues you are assessing their grammatical knowledge and learnings

spoken grammar- less formal, we have token replies: great absolutely, good job. A perks for new
language learner

Written grammar- very formal, organized, strict.(the formalities applied) less error are expected

Pedagogical issues

 Lack of student preparation or retention


 Grammar is hard for students
 Inadequate classroom materials
 Lack of student motivation

Pedagogy, most commonly understood as the approach to teaching, is the theory and practice of
learning, and how this process influences, and is influenced by, the social, political and psychological
development of learners.

We also talk about about of course Language is an arbitrary vocal and non-vocal symbols tacitly
agreed upon by group of people of course fofor the purpose of communication, how it is limited only
to us, humans- Sir Visaya where in I learned a new word which is the word tacit and it is now added to
my vocabulary

We must learn the fluency first than accuracy
