The video that I have watched was entitled Village of the Watermills. I think it was
entitled as Village of Watermills because we can see on the video that there’s a lot of
Watermills being shown in the background and may it be their source of living. A watermill
is a mill that uses moving water as its power source. It is a structure that uses a water wheel
turbine to drive a mechanical process such as milling, grinding, rolling or hammering. Water
mills use the flow of water to turn a large waterwheel. The video has also a connection in
technology or in today’s living. It gives us a hint to what is the importance of life, with or
without technology or modern things. What I realized also after watching is, they didn’t
emphasize or talked about the Watermills. Instead, the tourist asked lot of the things that he
observed.
The questions being asked by the tourist which is also answered by the old man makes
me realize that everything is happiness but being in a modern life may not a happiness of
others especially those who loves to live with the help of nature. Living in a modern life
makes our life easier. We have a lot of invented materials or anything like technology that
helps us a lot to make our work easier and make our life more convenient. “They think
convenience is better. They throw out what’s truly good”, the old man said. With that line, I
can say that being convenience will not always be better. We are being blind to the
importance of some truly good things especially the thing that are created by God. We forgot
that living life in a simple way is better than in today’s life. Just like for example before, our
family isn’t really into technology. We are happily living in a barrio which is lack of
electricity. We also used candles at night but we are still happy because we are complete and
we have time to bond. Not just like today, we are all busy scrolling and using our cellular
phones. We also not enjoy the real meaning of life and receive negativities in life. There’s a
lot of things that can help us in living, not only technology. We’re living in a modern world
that’s why we can say that we can’t live without technology. If we are going to scan some
books or any sources talking about the life of some people before then, we will be able to
understand everything that technology isn’t the real solution to make our life easier but our
efforts and love to God’s creation is.
I was really amazed by the video because it gives lesson and importance of life by just
living in a normal way or even without the help of technology. We don’t need to destroy our
nature just to fulfill our wants or to invent new things. I know that inventions and technology
have a big impact to a human’s life but, all I can say is that, not everything is good for us. We
also know that inventions and technology have a bad impact to our lives and to the society but
we always deny those bad impact because we believe and keep into our minds that it should
only has a good impact. Living in a modern world is really different from the video that I’ve
watch. The unity of people was also shattered by the technology. We should take note that not
all inventions and technology is good for our living. That life is meaningful when we always
give importance and not destroy God’s creation because at the end of the day, it is only us and
the nature. Live life to the fullest even without technology.
