1.0 SCOPE & OBJECTIVES

The purpose of this procedure is to define how excavation shall be carried out under controlled condition.
Excavation includes, removal of soil, rock, debris and concrete from piles breaking and to haul/stored the
excavated soil by the approved third party for waste management by the Consultant Representative “M/S
Technical Overseas General Transport EST”.

2.0 REFERENCE

All related codes and standards referenced in the Project Specifications.


Contract drawings.

Program of works.
Approved project safety plan and procedures.

3.0 HEALTH AND SAFETY HAZARDS

Specific safety measures have to followed as applicable, and all the safety measures are covered
separately in the Project Safety Plan.

The Construction Manager will be responsible for the delegation of works to designated persons and
QA/QC Department will be the responsible for inspection and acceptance of any works.

6.0 PROCEDURE / METHOD TO BE EMPLOYED

6.1 Excavation Works

a. Before commencement of work ascertain the nature and location of all existing (above and underground)
services on site by visual survey or by reviewing the service layout drawing.
b. If any protection, rerouting, termination or removals of services are required for the smooth processing of
work, it shall be discussed and written approval shall be obtained from the Engineer as appropriate.
c. Provide safe barricade 1m away from the excavation area for the safe of all workers at designated area.
d. Surveyor to be mark in all perimeter of the building the require depth to be excavated up to formation level
of raft foundation.
e. Include in excavation, removal of soil, rock, pavement, demolished structures below grade, concrete debris
from pile breaking using excavator and jack hammer.
f. Once the raft foundation reaches the formation level the surveyor will set the coordinates and depth of
individual pile caps as per approved drawing prior to commence excavation up to formation level for pile
caps.

6.2 Disposal Works

a. Remove disturbed earth displaced by adjacent construction.


b. Segregate all the debris and excavated soil at the designated area.
c. The Contractor for the Waste Management “M/S Technical Overseas General Transport EST.” arrange the
daily hauling and removal of excavated soil and all foreign materials not require at site.
d. Dispose of all excess and unsuitable excavated materials away from site to a location approved by local
authorities.
e. Store excavated materials that are approved for use as fill in a segregated manner, so as not to obstruct
the site, and at sufficient distance from edge of excavation to ensure that the side of excavation is not
overloaded.

10 HEALTH AND SAFETY PROVISIONS

o All Works shall be controlled as the Safety Procedures. Safety equipment will be
worn at all times.
o Site Safety Officer will check and ensure all safety precautions are taken prior to
commencement of work.
o All the working platforms will be inspected by Site Safety Engineer
o The working area must be clearly marked with sufficient hazard boards, alarming
tape and cones if needed.
o Safety procedures are to be considered before, through and after completion of
the work to avoid any possibility of danger to the Humans or to the Construction.
o All work places will be cleaned from waste materials and ensuring clean and
healthy work environment, as well as maintained pre-access and egress in the
event of emergency.

11 QC APPROVALS AND OTHER DOCUMENTS

o Project HSE Plan


o All drawings shall be approved
o Calibration certificates for equipment and instruments
o Approved Contractor(s) for waste management

12 DISTRIBUTION
Copies of this method statement shall be issued to the following for implementation.
Construction Manager

NOTE: Works shall not be limited to these procedures as new and more applicable methods maybe
employed during the work executions. In this case, proper notification or approval will be obtained from
Consultant as applicable.
