Personal Brand Insights & Growth

The document discusses a woman conducting self and peer assessments of her communication style and personal brand. While she sees herself as passive, the assessments found her to be more direct and driven. Her perceived brand from others was also more positive than how she viewed herself, seeing her as confident. She realizes she needs to be braver and more ambitious in how she sees herself.

Professional Brand Narrative

September 18, 2020

I have been conducting a mix of self and peer assessments since the beginning of the semester to
see how my colleagues and I see my communication style. Following this paper will demonstrate
how my PeopleStyle Assessment and Outside Leadership Evaluation are similar and dissimilar. I
identified a number of contradictions between how I want to represent my personal brand and
how others see it. By the end of this paper, you will have a comprehensive idea of my personal
brand's current performance, what needs to be improved, and how the evaluations converge and
diverge.

Self-Evaluation

I always see myself as a passive person. What I mean by passive is do not often make a
statement or being the one who starts the project. However, I am an active listener. I always
paying attention and listening carefully to the person that makes their statement. Also, I try my
best to provide good feedback and ask several questions to clarify a certain point that has been
said. Nevertheless, according to the PeopleStyle assessment, I am a very driver person. When I
got this result, I was a little surprised because in my perspective a driver person is a strong and
confident personality which is not what I think about myself. However, I am as a driver person
quite makes sense because when I am in an environment that I am comfortable, I become direct
and straightforward when I give my thoughts. I prioritize efficiency the time management in a
way that makes my teammate feels pressured so that we do not give zero progress in our project.
It has shown that the way I communicate may drive the conversation rather than just go with the
flow.

Perceived Professional Brand

The result of my survey from OLE concluded that two respondents said I was a driver, two
others said I was expressive, one respondent said I was amiable, and the last respondent said I
was analytical. My respondent described me as kind-hearted, supportive, enthusiastic, friendly,
straightforward, introverted, and smart. Additionally, my respondent stated that my core values
were careful, good time management, solidarity, confidence, critical thinking, resourceful, and
justice. Although all of them described me in a positive way, I was still surprised that one of
them thought that I am a confident person. Confidence is such a big word for me, but when I try
to understand, I believe that it depends on the environment and context.

Summary

All in all, my professional brand personality that I imagined myself to be, turned out to be very
different from how other people perceive me. My respondent described me as confident and
others positive words that really make me feels so encouraging. I am perceived more than I
imagine. I need to be more brave and ambitious toward my own self so that I can work more
creatively and confidently. Thus, I should change to a better version of myself so that people can
see my worth and value maximally.
