1. Principle Of Double Effect

2. Principles Of Legitimate Cooperation
3. Principles Of Common Good And Subsidiarity
4. Principle Of Stewardship
5. Principle Of Totality And Its Integrity
6. Principle Of Ordinary And Extra-Ordinary Means
7. Principle Of Personalized Sexuality

B. Share your reflections and what ethical principles can be applied to the concept (reflection and
principle should have a minimum of five and maximum of eight sentences only).

1. Principle of Double Effect- provides justification in which the process is based on the intended
outcome of pain and symptom relief and the proportionality of benefit and harm.

Reflection:
autonomy, for sure when I become a RN there will a time that I have to choose a difficult
decision because we need to think what are the consequences in our decision will it benefit the patient
or will it give harm or sometime on those options are both wrong, this principle is basically about moral
dillemas.

2. Principles Of Legitimate Cooperation- To achieve a well-formed conscience, one should always judge
it unethical to cooperate formally with an immoral act.

Reflection: non-malificence and veracity, the partnership must be open and must be honest. it
shouldn’t conatin any malice and doing anything behind the back.

3. Principles Of Common Good And Subsidiarity

- equires those in positions of authority to recognize that individuals have a right to participate in
decisions that directly affect them, in accord with their dignity and with their responsibility to the
common good.

- Decisions should be made at the most appropriate level in a society or organization, that is, one should
not withdraw those decisions or choices that rightly belong to the individuals or smaller groups and
assign them to a higher authority.

Reflection: paternalism, I think this principle refers to a standard of moral values that is the most ideal.
we follow this principle to know what the best option in making decisions
4. Principle Of Stewardship

- Stewardship requires us to appreciate the two great gifts that a wise and loving God has given: the
earth, with all its natural resources and our own human nature, with its biological, psychological, social,
and spiritual capacities. This principle is grounded in the presupposition that God has absolute Dominion
over creation, and that, in so far as human beings are made in God’s image and likeness (Imago Dei), we
have been given a limited Dominion over creation and are responsible for its care.

- includes but is not reducible to concern for scarce resources, rather, it also implies a responsibility to
see that the mission of Catholic health care is carried out as ministry with its particular commitment to
human dignity and the common good.

Reflection:

beneficence because we need to appreciate and preserve the creation of and one is us the people when
becoming a RN someday I need to take care my patient with all of my care for that is the way I thank
God.

5. Principle Of Totality And Its Integrity

- dictates that the well-being of the whole person must be taken into account in deciding about any
therapeutic intervention or use of technology. Therapeutic procedures that are likely to cause harm or
undesirable side effects can be justified only by a proportionate benefit to the patient.

Reflection:

Justice,

INTEGRITY refers to each individuals duty to “preserve a view of the whole human person in which the
values of the intellect, will, conscience and fraternity are pre-eminent”

TOTALITY refers to the duty to preserve intact the physical component of the integrated bodily and
spiritual nature of human life, whereby every part of the human body “exists for the sake of the whole
as the imperfect for the sake of the perfect”.

6. Principle Of Ordinary And Extra-Ordinary Means - ordinary means must be taken to preserve life, and
extraordinary means can be morally refused.

Reflection:
beneficence, extraordinary means are “medical procedures which no longer correspond to the
real situation of the patient, either because they are by now disproportionate to any expected results or
because they impose an excessive burden on the patient and his family. In contrast, ordinary means are
those means of treatment available that are objectively proportionate to the prospects for
improvement.

7.Principle Of Personalized Sexuality- is based on an understanding of sexuality as one of the basic traits
of a person and must be developed in ways consistent with enhancing human dignity.

Reflection:
confidentiality, Integrity focuses on maintaining basic human capacities and provides a
hierarchical ordering of higher functions over lower functions for use in decision making.
