Primary Health Care: Universal Health Care

Read course and laboratory unit objectives


Read study guide prior to class attendance

At the end of this unit, the students are expected to:

1. Assume responsibility for lifelong learning, own personal development, and maintenance of competence.
2. Integrate relevant principles of social, physical, natural plus health sciences and humanities in a given individual
or family health needs.

Computer device or smartphone with internet access (at least 54 kbps; average data
subscription will suffice)
To facilitate the practice of students’ web navigation skills, the following rules must be
implemented:
1. The use of search engines (e.g. Google, Yahoo) are allowed.
2. Use navigation techniques as mentioned in the required readings.
3. Students must submit this accomplished worksheet through Canvas upload.

CASE SCENARIO:

Health is everyone’s right. As future nurses of the country what is your take on the
implementation of the universal health care (UHC) in the coming years. Watch the video on the

below:
1. State the question/scenario raised by the host (female doctor) and discuss your insight as a nurse
on the questions/scenario posted by the host at the following timeline of the video 20:00-20:29,
21:30-22:19, and 23:00-23:20
2. What do you think is your role as a public health nurse (PHN) in the implementation of the PHC-
UHC?
3. If applicable, should nurses/PHN undergo specialize training in relation to the implementation of
UHC?
4. What is the role of the PHN in the individualized and population based health needs?

questions:
1. Identify and state the issue/s discussed in the video with the corresponding timeline of the video.

• One Group will be chosen to present during synchronous class via zoom meeting for a maximum
of 45 minutes.
• Submit your PowerPoint presentation through canvas upload in the assignment submission tab
