Installation
This section provides information about the installation of Anton Paar SurPASS 3. Installing SurPASS 3 should
be an easy and straightforward task. Just start the provided setup package and follow the instructions of the setup
program.
Before starting with installation you should check that your target system meets the hardware and software
requirements.
Administrative Privileges and User Rights
You will need administrative privileges on the target machine to be able to install SurPASS 3. Thus, it might be
necessary to contact your IT department.
On Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 you still need administrator privileges, but
you may start the setup package with the “Run as administrator” option from within a standard user account.
Installing SurPASS 3 from an administrator account and then switching to a standard user account for daily use
is a valid scenario that is fully supported. SurPASS 3 does not require administrator rights for normal operation;
just for installation.
Power Options
You should configure your operating system’s power options so that your target machine does not go into
sleep/standby mode or into hibernation after a few minutes of inactivity; otherwise SurPASS 3 will not be able to
continuously record measuring data.
Additional Software Components
SurPASS 3 depends on a few external software components that will be automatically installed by SurPASS 3
Setup. The installation of those components might take a few minutes up to an hour, depending on the number of
software components that need to be installed. For the first-time installation SurPASS 3 Setup might also require
to reboot the machine once or twice.
Following you find a list of software components that will be automatically installed.
