Dragon’s Den success shares expertise
Successful Leeds Metropolitan University Events Management alumni will
return to their alma mater on Wednesday 4 May to share their industry
insights with current final year students.
A panel of former students, including Dragon’s Den star Richard Enion, will
lead a question and answer session to advise 100 of this year’s graduates on
how to secure the top jobs.
Richard, a former Business Information Systems student from Leeds
Metropolitan, received a backing of £50,000 from Theo Paphitis and Peter
Jones’s events company to grow his high energy drumming team building and
performance business, BassToneSlap. The company has worked with clients
including CitiGroup and Cadbury and was described by Peter Jones on the
Dragons Den programme as “a breath of fresh air.”
David Bassett, Senior Lecturer in Events Management at Leeds Metropolitan,
commented: “The event will be both informative and inspiring for our
students. By hearing from some of our recent graduates, we hope this will
help final year students to make a successful transition to the workplace.
Equally it is hoped that Richard Enion’s excitement and energy will leave the
students buzzing with enthusiasm as they enter the ‘real’ world.”
MPI UK & Ireland (Meeting Professionals International) will also be attending
the event to promote the 2011 Young Achievers Award to students. The
award was created by MPI with the purpose of discovering and recognising
new talent within the UK’s meetings industry.
