To maintain stable both sides accuracy against a change in ambient temperature or humidity, a change of this machine
conditions, or a change of the both sides accuracy due to the paper type, perform the both sides adjustment at
periodic intervals.
After you understand the both sides adjustment flow (timing, method, and order), perform the necessary adjustment.
There are three types of both sides adjustment flows as follows.

that automation is completed, again withdraw the tray to find that the bottom plate has been elevated to
the top position.
NOTICE
- Be sure not to withdraw the tray till the motor sound stops. Otherwise, the later operation may be affected
because the bottom plate is not elevated completely to the top.
- Adjust so that the scale marks of the front side and the back side become the same value.
NOTICE
- Avoid making the space between the side guide
plates too wide or too narrow for the paper to be
seated straight.

)Scan measurement adjustment (When using PF-708 Scanner)
Adjust the magnification ratio and printing position of the back side with reference to the printing position of the front
side. The magnification ratio and printing position of the back side are automatically adjusted by using the scanner
function of this machine to measure the gap amount in printing position of the back side to the front side. You do not
need to measure the gap amount with a scale. The adjustment is available for paper of all sizes which can be used
with this machine.
Print out 1 to 20 sheets of the adjustment chart having both front and back sides printed, and scan them 4 times per
sheet. The average value of gap amounts in printing position of the back side to the front side, which can be obtained
by scanning up to 20 sheets of the adjustment chart, will be calculated in order to adjust the magnification ratio and
printing position of the back side.
NOTICE
The [Scan Meas.] adjustment provides the coordination based on the average value of gap amounts, taking into
account the gap in printing position between the first and last sheets which can be produced when multiple sheets are
output.
Performing the [Scan Meas.] adjustment may require readjustment of the "Zoom and Image Shift Adjustment"
registered in a paper profile.
The [Scan Meas.] adjustment is a simple method to adjust only the magnification ratio and image position of the back
side. To adjust both front and back sides, perform the "Front side Adjustment" (Page 2-6).

measurement results will be added up. This
operation can be repeated up to 20 times.
When the 20th scan measurement is
completed, [No] can no longer be pressed.
- Pressing [Yes] automatically calculates the
adjustment value from the added
measurement results and reflects it on Zoom
and Image Shift to be specified for [Back].
After pressing [Yes], output a sheet of the
adjustment chart to confirm the result. If
readjustment is needed, repeat steps 8 to 16.
- If the adjustment value obtained by pressing
[Yes] exceeds the available adjustment range,
a message is displayed indicating that the
available adjustment range has been
exceeded. Press [Close] to discard the
adjustment value, then retry scan
measurement from the beginning.
- Possible causes to exceed the adjustment
range may include that the chart used in the
scan measurement is incorrect (a different
chart has been used), the printing position of
the front side has been poorly adjusted, or the
adjustments of the reference positions are not
completed. Confirm these points before
restarting the scan measurement.

3 IMAGE QUALITY ADJUSTMENT
To maintain stable color quality against a change in ambient temperature or humidity, a change of this machine
conditions, or a change of the color tone due to the paper type or print mode, perform the image quality adjustment
at periodic intervals.
After you understand the image quality adjustment flow (timing, method, and order), perform a necessary adjustment.

as follows.
NOTICE
On this machine, when you configure the color density control to automatic, the regular adjustment flow (standard) is
processed automatically. Before you use the machine, check the configuration of color density control.

3.2 Image quality adjustment for Image Controller IC-308/IC-310
To maintain stable color quality against a change in ambient temperature or humidity, a change of this machine
conditions, or a change of the color tone due to the paper type or print mode, perform the image quality adjustment
at periodic intervals.
After you understand the image quality adjustment flow (timing, method, and order), perform a necessary adjustment.
When the image controller IC-308/IC-310 is installed to this machine, there are two types of image quality adjustment
flows as follows.
NOTICE
On this machine, when you configure the color density control to automatic, the regular adjustment flow (standard) is
processed automatically. Before you use the machine, check the configuration of color density control.
For details of the procedures to check the configuration, refer to P.3-63.
)Adjustment timing
For customers that require a high accuracy color reproduction, conduct the process when you activate the power
every day.
For other cases, conduct the process in the following cases.
- Before you output a job that the color is important
- When you are not satisfied with the color stability (want to improve the reproducibility)

)Maximum Density Auto Adjustment (RU)
NOTICE
To enable this function, your service representative must specify the target maximum density value (target density) in
advance. For more information, contact your service representative.
Before you carry out Maximum Density Auto Adjustment (RU), check that the configuration of Screen 1 is Dot190. If
Screen 1 is not configured to Dot190, perform "Change setting of Custom Screen" (Page 3-47), and change Screen 1
to Dot190.
Carry out Maximum Density Auto Adjustment (RU) using the paper that is used to register the target maximum density
value (target density).
4 Load the paper that has been used to register the target density into the tray.
The paper profile of the tray is automatically switched to the paper profile that has been used to register
the target density.
