CITATION:
Everything is accessible by the touch of a button. The things a forty year old learnt while at twenty
five is known to a teenager. It is a serious situation that needs addressing (McAnany, 2017). The
digital age that has transformed how things take place has been blamed for this. On the other
hand, it is clear that technology cannot be stopped and it is meant to make life easier. However, on
the part of communication particularly social media, society is largely to blame for using technology
in a way that has negative effects to the society (Ahn, 2011). Indeed, the permeation of social
media to today’s teens is incomprehensible to a huge degree especially when compared to the
youth of yore. We cannot also forget to note that social media has also helped transform the lives
of the people. People are able to learn about more things, the mode of delivery is fast and efficient
and also, it is possible to easily find the accuracy of information. It, therefore, means that social
media has many positive connotations if used well and has helped make communication and
education faster and easier (Kirschner & Karpinsk, 2000).
