Principle :
• Detecting Flaw/Discontinuity using magnetic field applied to the tested
surface of material, then examining flux leakage due to discontinued area
(surface & subsurface) using magnetic particle.
 Maximum possible testing subsurface discontinuity (<3 mm below
surface).
 Applied to ferromagnetic specimen (do not use in Stainless
Steel/Duplex/diamagnetic alloy)

4. Dye Penetrant Test
Principle :
• Detecting Surface Flaw/Discontinuity using apllying dye penetrant at
surface of specimen, hold until penetrant enter discontinuity (open
(open to
surface) by capilarity force, cleaning penetrant at surface (that not enter
discontinuity), then force back penetrant to the surface by apply spraying
developer to the surface tested. Examining visually penetrant that appear
at the surface
• PossibleTesting for Surface Discontinuity for metal,plastic, ceramic
etc.
• Cannot do in “sponge like” material (high capilarity mat’l )

5. Positive Material Identification
Principle :
• Detecting chemical/elements composition of metal using portable
XRF (X-
(X-Ray Fluoresence) ,
 Physic Principle : Appliying low energy X-Ray radiation to the surface
specimen, outer shell electron of specimen will absorp (all or partially) X-ray
energy, if bonding energy between electron and nucleus, lower than X-Ray
energy, electron will excite(aside) from atom. Electron is being in unstable
state. Then electron will enter atom shell as excite energy as Secondary X-Ray.
Then XRF Detector analyse those secondary X-Ray to detect element of atom
specimen. Due to every specimen have particular/individual energy spectrum
of secondary X-Ray.
