1. Product Description
In recent years, with the rapid development of lithium ion battery technology which used for
Telecom application, stable and high performance battery management system(BMS) becomes
more and more important. Vision battery BMS is customized for -48V Telecom battery
application, and integrated the battery information inspection, management and
communication functions, can achieve the voltage, current, temperature protection and smart
balance, SOC, SOH, LED display, history data storage,and extra upgrading program port, make
sure the battery operate safety and high efficiency.
2. Functional Characteristics
Supports up to 15 series of lithium iron phosphate single cell management;
Charge/discharge current, cells voltage, battery voltage detecting function. The current value
is shown as a positive when changing, a negative when discharging. Current Sampling
accuracy<= 2%, Voltage Sampling accuracy<= 0.5%;
Alarm, protection and Recovery functions when over-charging or over-discharging for both
cells and battery module;
Alarm, protection and Recovery functions for over current;
Cells, PCB temperature detecting function. Alarm, protection and Recovery functions when
the temperature is higher or under the setting value. Temperature accuracy is 2℃;
SOH, SOC estimating, Estimation accuracy<= 5%;
Display of remaining capacity by 4 LED;
Smart cell balance function.
Short circuit protection;
Reverse polarity protection;
RS485(MODbus) to communicate with UPS/SMPS or PC software, support Cascade
Communications (Master-slave).

6. Function description
6.1 BMS Status
1. Stop/Transport Mode. In working mode, turn off air switch, battery will go to STOP mode with low
self-discharge. In STOP mode, charging MOS and discharging MOS are turn off, battery cannot
charge, discharge or communicate.
2. Working Mode. In STOP mode, connect the battery to SMPS, turn on switch, battery will go to
working mode. In working mode, BMS will monitor battery voltage, current, and temp, and
communication is available, charging MOS and discharging MOS are closed, Battery will operate as
the settings.
3. Sleep Mode. After turn on the battery , if the battery voltage below the low voltage protection, BMS
will go to sleep mode in 1 minute. In sleep mode, charging MOS and discharging MOS are turn
off ,BMS will check the current in every 1 min, if there is charging current connecting, battery will
turn to working mode.
4.Error Mode. In working mode, if there is: ①.Battery cells, ΔU>1V, or ②.Any cell voltage>3.9V
or <2.3V, or ③. Battery temp is <-25℃ or +75℃. BMS will go to error mode, ALM will bright
and other LED will shut down, and go to STOP mode, charging MOS and discharging MOS are turn
off.

5. Limit current charge mode.When the battery voltage is under 45V,battery will go to limit current
charge mode.In this mode,BMS will limit the charge current to 10A.If the battery voltage exceed
45V,BMS will go to normal charge circuit.

6.2 Over-charge protection and recovery
6.2.1 Over-charge protection and recovery of cells
When the highest voltage of the cells beyond the over-charge protection voltage of the cells, the system
would enter the mode of over-charge protection and turn off the charge MOS.
When all the cells’ voltage less than the over-charge recovery voltage of cells or discharge the battery, the
system would recover from the protection.
6.2.2 Over-charge protection and recovery of module
When the highest voltage of the battery group beyond the over-charge protection voltage of the battery
group, the system would enter the mode of over-charge protection and turn off the charge MOS.
When the battery group’s voltage less than the over-charge recovery voltage of battery group or discharge
the battery, the system would recover from the protection.
6.3 Over-discharge protection and recovery
6.3.1 Over-discharge protection and recovery of cells
When the lowest voltage of the cells less than the over-discharge protection voltage of cells, and last time is
more than the delay time of the over-discharge protection, the system would enter the mode of
over-discharge protection and turn off the discharge MOS.
When all the cells’ voltage raise up to the over-discharge protection recovery voltage of cells or charge the
battery, the system would recover from the protection.
6.3.2 Over-discharge protection and recovery of module
When the lowest voltage of the battery group less than the over-discharge protection voltage of battery
group, and last time is more than the delay time of the over-discharge protection, the system would enter
the mode of over-discharge protection and turn off the discharge MOS.
When the battery group’s voltage raise up to the over-discharge protection recovery voltage of battery group
or charge the battery, the system would recover from the protection.
Cautions: The system will enter sleep mode if over discharge protection hasn’t be released in 60 seconds.
6.4 Charging over-current protection and recovery
When the charging current bigger than the charging over-current protection current value and more than

the delay time of charging over-current protection, the system would enter the mode of charging
over-current protection and turn off the charging MOS.The system would recover from the protection of the
charging over-current in every 60 seconds.
6.5 Discharging over-current protection and recovery
When the discharging current beyond the charging over-current protection current and more than the delay
time of discharging over-current protection, the system would enter the mode of discharging over-current
protection and turn off the discharging MOS.
The system would recover from the protection of the discharging over-current in every 60 seconds.
6.6 Short circuit protection and recovery
When the discharging current beyond the value of short circuit protection and reaches the delay time of the
short circuit protection, the system would enter the mode of short circuit protection and turn off the
discharge MOS.
The system wouldn’t recover by itself unless remove the load or charge the battery.
6.7 Reverse polarity protection and recovery
When the battery and rectifier are in reserve connection and reaches the delay time of the reverse polarity
protection, the system would enter the mode of reverse polarity protection and turn off the discharge MOS.
The system wouldn’t recover by itself unless remove the rectifier or properly connected rectifier.
6.8 Temperature protection and recovery
6.8.1 High temperature protection and recovery of cells
When the cells’ temperature beyond the value of charging/discharging high temperature protection and the
delay time reaches the charging/discharging high temperature protection. The system would enter the mode
of cells’ high temperature protection and turn off the charge/discharge MOS.
When the cells’ temperature less than the cells’ high temperature protection of recovery, then the system
would recover from the protection.

6.8.2 Low temperature protection and recovery of cells
When the cells’ temperature less than the value of charging/discharging low temperature protection and the
delay time reaches the charging/discharging low temperature protection. The system would enter the mode
of cells’ low temperature protection and turn off the charge/discharge MOS.
When the cells’ temperature beyond the cells’ low temperature protection of recovery, then the system
would recover from the protection.
6.8.3 High temperature protection and recovery of MOSFET
When the temperature of MOSFET beyond the value of the high temperature protection and the last time
reaches the delay time, the system would enter the mode of protection and turn off the charge/discharge
MOSFET.
When the temperature of MOSFET less than the value of high temperature recovery, the system would
recover from the protection.
6.8.4 Environment temperature protection and recovery
When the environment temperature beyond the value of the high/low temperature protection and the last
time reaches the delay time, the system would enter the mode of protection and turn off the
charge/discharge MOSFET.
When the environment temperature less than the value of high/low temperature recovery, the system
would recover from the protection.
6.9 Cell Balance function
During charging, If all cell voltages are greater than 3.40V and the voltage difference between cells ΔU>
40mV, BMS will trigger the balancing process, the balance current is designed base on the capacity of battery
pack. ΔU=max. Cell voltage – min. Cell voltage
6.10 Charging current limit
During charging, if the charging current is greater than the setting value, the BMS will limit the charging
current to less than the setting value.

7. Description of communication
Integrated RS485 port BMS, communication with UPS/SMPS or PC software and Cascade communication
between the battery pack.
7.1 Monitoring Content
1. Total voltage, Cells voltage, Charging current, Discharging current, Temperature(4 for cell, 1 for temp.) etc.
2. Status of protection, Status of charging/discharging,SOC,SOH Alarms etc.
3. Status of protection, turn off alarm sound, Charge/Discharge(optional)
4. Charging/Discharging management parameters, and match the output performance of Switching power
supply system.
7.2 Communication
BMS communicate with UPS/SMPS or PC software via the RS485 port. Check the parameters of battery
including voltage, current, temperature, status, SOC, SOH etc. The default Baud rate can be adjusted from
9600 to 19200. The reading time interval is 100mS.

8. Data Logger( Option )
The BMS can store data including protection, alarm, recovery and time. Each kind of data recording the cells
voltage, total voltage, capacity, current, temp. and so on. Besides, we can also record the parameter of
battery in a certain period.
The storage data can be read and save as EXCEL document. The maximum storage capacity is 2GB SD card.
BMS will immediately store data if there is any protections, and restore after stored 2GB memory of
information.

9. Electromagnetic compatibility
9.1 Electrostatic discharge immunity
Meet the requirement of GB/T 17626.2-2006 level 4 ; The battery can work properly after the test.
9.2 Conduction disturbance limits
Meet the requirement of YD/T 983-1998 level A; The battery can work properly after the test.
9.3 Radiation disturbance limits
Meet the requirement of YD/T 983-1998 level A ; The battery can work properly after the test.
9.4 Surge (impact) Immunity
Line to line in the communication port of battery pack should meet the requirement of GB/T 17626.5-2008
level 1 , Line to ground should meet the requirement of GB/T 17626.5-2008 level 2 ; The battery can work
properly after the test.
10. Cautions
Do not make the cells touch to the BMS surface directly when assembling BMS.
Do not touch the components in the PCBA in order to prevent from destroying the board when use the wire ,
soldering iron and solder.
Pay attention to the animistic, damp proof, waterproof and so on.
To prevent from destroying the board, Please follow the design parameter and condition for usage,
Please check out the connection if there is no voltage output or battery can not charge.
When connect the battery inspection wire, follow the instructions and do not make the steps wrong, or
maybe damage the BMS.
