ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to discuss various essential, philosophical and

self-reflection questions. In the pre-pandemic period, knowing one-self and
defining life and determining reasons of living is quite hard but manageable,
but during peri-pandemic period, a lot has been questioning and had lost track
of sanity, viewed life differently and confuses sham to fact. This paper will
explain and will serve as a guide in knowing one-self and re-define life in order
to reach variety of readers that may be inspired by whether the versatility,
flexibility and adaptability of the topic and the writer.
Introduction

Every time the topic of the meaning of life comes up, people tend to pose one

of three questions such as “What are you talking about?”, “What is the meaning of

life?”, and “Is life in fact meaningful?”.

An unknown writer said that meaningful life is not being rich, not being

popular, not being highly educated, or being perfect rather it is about being real,

being humble, about being able to share ourselves and touch the lives of others and

t is only then that we could have a full, happy and contented life.

A part of philosophy of life’s meaning is consists of the systematic attempt to

identify what we have in mind when we think about the talk of life’s meaning.

This paper will be discussing the essential philosophical and self-reflection

questions that will help the readers understand more about one self. This contains

questions such as “Who am I? What is life? Why am I here? What am I living for?

What is reality? Is the universe real? What is good to do? How should I live life

meaningfully?”

It is expected that this paper will be of great help in in knowing one-self and

re-defining life and inspire them whether with the versatility, flexibility and adaptability

of the topic and the literatures used.

Discussion

There is a time in your life when you have doubts about yourself, in the extent

of asking “Who you are?”. I got to the point that I was in doubt of what purpose will

my life be, asking what will I do in this lifetime or isn’t possible that this lifetime of

mine has serve its purpose in this universe. One part of philosophy of life’s meaning

consists of the systematic attempt to identify what people have in mind when they

think about the topic or what they mean by talk of “life’s meaning.” For many in the

field, terms such as “importance” and “significance” are synonyms of

“meaningfulness” and so are insufficiently revealing, but there are those who draw a

distinction between meaningfulness and significance (Singer 1996, 112–18; Belliotti

2019, 145–50, 186).

The question which is structurally simple in a grammatical sense –“Whom am

I?” seems to generate very complex answers seen through different perspectives.

People will respond differently according to what favors them most in describing who

they really are. They can answer this through their information labeled society we

live in, their name, the place they live in, the institute of their education an such

relation to the reality of the society. A very technical person that believes only

through supported evidences can answer this scientifically; their role as one of the

living organisms in this closed ecosystem or their functions as Homo Sapiens

throughout the scientific history. If a religious person answers this question, it will be

heavily linked with the faith they have with their respective religion; they would most

likely be reflecting the religious community they are affiliated with. Personally, I like

to describe myself with all of these perspectives for the reason that nothing is greater

than the other, or it is impossible to say that science is more important than religion

or such.
From the moment I was born and was old enough to be aware of having

conscience, I have always known that my name is Edric P. Senerez, a very colorful

person, a fun to be with and a warm-hearted individual. Apart from being a lover of

good food myself, there is this feeling of satisfaction I get whenever people enjoy my

food. That is why, I really love to cook food for my friends and specially with my

family.

I also love travelling that’s why I save enough money to go visit a different city

in the Philippines. So far, I have visited Baguio, Tagaytay and Palawan. I still have a

long way to go, but I’m determined to visit at least 75% of all the tourist spot in our

country before the curtains close on me. It makes me appreciate people more,

despite their differences. I love travelling, because I’m introduced to different people

and cultures in our country and hopefully, all over the world.

Regarding my personality, I think that I am a very friendly person deducing

from how I relate to my peers, and family. Personally, I like being optimistic, and I

like talking about positive things in life since I believe that people have the capacity

to do great things as long as they believe in themselves. Among other things, I am

slow at judging people on the decisions that they make. Besides, I like treating

people equally since I believe everyone has the right to be perceived so. But still, it

this does not mean that I am a very indulgent and naive person.

My biggest weakness is that I find it hard to trust people. I don’t know if it is a

gift or not, but my first instinct about a person is always right. People tend to mask

their true intentions from me, but somehow, I just see through it all. It is easier for me

to know what a person is going through from their emotions. For instance, a person

does not need to tell me that s/he is going through some tough time. I’ll just feel it
when they are around me. So, if their actions do not correspond with the emotions

I’m getting from them, I will know they are dishonest.

What I dislike the most in life is dishonest people. With dishonest people, you

can never know what they are planning for you. Dealing with hypocrites is very

difficult, because they trick you into letting your guard down and you become very

vulnerable. They will attack when you are down or when you least expect it.

According to this version of naturalism, meaning in life varies from person to

person, depending on each one’s variable pro-attitudes. Common instances are

views that one’s life is more meaningful, the more one gets what one happens to

want strongly, achieves one’s highly ranked goals, or does what one believes to be

really important (Trisel 2002; Hooker 2008).

Though my experiences, I know I have been building my personality a strong

one. I have identified my purpose and how to live my life meaningfully. In my

childhood years, I once dream of being a very accomplished person with goals to

determine my existence in this lifetime. Being an educator is my life-long goal and

dream. I aspire to make a difference in others’ lives through education. I’m an

elementary school teacher because I believe that children can achieve so much

more if they learn early of their potential.

Education has always been my priority. My parents always stressed the

importance of obtaining an education, having missed that opportunity themselves.

My parents taught me as a child that schooling was vital to success in life. Truly, that

lesson has been the most important in my path to college. I don’t think I would’ve

made it this far had I not taken my education seriously. I want to teach others about

the importance of education so they too can prosper. Everything I’ve learned is

important for my career and, I did study hard because I was afraid that I’m failing my
future students. Every child deserves the best education available and I should strive

to be the best educator possible to provide that for them. When balancing

academics, work, and my social life, it can get challenging to keep going. But, with

the future of children’s education in my hands, I always get back on track.

That is why, staying current with professional development is our fast-moving

world is crucial. In my teaching career, I doubt that I have invented any method of

teaching reading that has not been previously used in some way by someone else,

but I have done many of the same things in reading classes that are currently being

taught to new reading teachers today. Even so, I have endeavored to learn new

techniques in my area, especially during these years of experienced. I have taken as

many in-service courses and have attended as many of the professional conferences

as I could without sacrificing the time owed my students.

Conclusion

I believe that teaching is the most important profession in the world. How else

can we continue to develop in such a technical world, or in any other way, for that

matter? Without the transfer of knowledge to young minds, we will stagnate and

wither as a world. Teaching is hope for better, more successful futures. Learning is

hope for becoming better individuals, for gaining intelligence, and for implementing

practical experiences in our future. Since we always tell our children that they should

plan for their futures and work to realize those goals, the teaching profession should

“practice what it preaches” by helping young people to reach those goals. Teaching

during these years has been rewarding beyond my imagination. I have watched non-

readers become readers, I have watched scores and student confidence improve,

and I have been part of that change. What a reward!

I also believe that teaching provides a way to give back to society and to help

improve the lives of those who come after us. Since teachers have so much potential

in the field, they should be given every opportunity possible to use it. Don’t let

yourself be left out of the perfect opportunity. Be the one to bring change and be the

one to inspire others. Become a teacher, and it will change your life.

Teaching is the profession of imparting knowledge and skills to students in a

way that will help them achieve their full potential. As such, teaching can be an

incredibly rewarding career. What’s more, teaching is one of the few professions that

allow you to work with children and then retire from the same occupation while still

young. Teaching gives you the chance to make a lasting impact on the world by

inspiring a new generation of thinkers and leaders. Teaching is also a way for people

to find meaning in their lives after struggling in other areas.

For some, the feeling that comes from helping others is a driving force that

motivates them in life. If you enjoy helping others and have a desire to make a

difference in their lives, teaching might be the right profession for you. Helping

others, seeing them achieve their goals, and seeing them grow can build a lasting

positive impact in your life. Job Security Some people worry about job security in this

day and age. Teaching, while not the most secure of professions, is at least

considered to be a stable career. There is always going to be demand for teachers

because kids need an adult in their life who is always there for them. Teachers will

always have a place in the workforce because they help children to learn.
