B. Writing laboratory work report on chemistry in English
3. Once you have completed an experiment and have collected all of necessary
information in your lab notebook and any supplementary data from analytical
instruments, you need to write up your results in a lab report. The purpose of writing
reports you’ve performed is to communicate exactly what occurred in an experiment
or observation and to clearly discuss the results. Briefly explain what needs to be in
this part of the lab report!

C. Writing mini research proposal in English
4. In a mini research proposal, research questions that are too broad are not suitable to be
addressed in a single study. One reason for this can be if there are many factors or
variables to consider. In addition, a sample data set that is too large or an experimental
timeline that is too long may suggest that the research question is not focused enough.
Write possible research questions in the research proposal! For example, the topics
are about (choose the one you interest from these two topics):
1) Qualitative analysis of food coloring 2) Analysis of student learning outcomes by

D. Read paragraph below
1. Molecular surgery provides the opportunity to study relatively large molecules
encapsulated within a fullerene cage. Here we determine the location of an H2O
molecule isolated within an adsorbed buckminsterfullerene cage, and compare this to
the intra-fullerene position of HF. Using normal incidence X-ray standing wave
(NIXSW) analysis, coupled with density functional theory and molecular dynamics
simulations, we show that both H2O and HF are located at an off-center position
within the fullerene cage, caused by substantial intra-cage electrostatic fields generate
by surface adsorption of the fullerene. The atomistic and electronic structure
simulations also reveal significant internal rotational motion consistent with the
NIXSW data. Despite this substantial intra-cage interaction, we find that neither HF or
H2O contribute to the endofullerene frontier orbitals, confirming the chemical isolation
of the encapsulated molecules. We also show that our experimental NIXSW
measurements and theoretical data are best described by a mixed adsorption site model.
Define the meaning of the word below in English and write down the synonim for all
5 words:
A. Encapsulated
B. Coupled
C. Simulations
D. Off-center
E. Adsorption

2. Below is the American Chemical Society’s president comments on award of 2021
Nobel Prize in Chemistry
WASHINGTON, Oct. 6, 2021 — On behalf of the American Chemical Society (ACS),
President H. N. Cheng, Ph.D., congratulates today’s winners of the Nobel Prize in
Chemistry: Benjamin List, Ph.D., Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlen for schung
(Germany) and David W.C. MacMillan, Ph.D., Princeton University. The Royal
Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the prize “for the development of asymmetric
organo-catalysis.” “Asymmetric organo-catalysis offers a new way of thinking and a
more sustainable way of carrying out crucial chemical reactions,” says Cheng. “In the
big picture, the ability to create new compounds to address human problems is the
strength of chemistry. Chemists are like magicians, and with asymmetric organo-
catalysis, we have a new magic wand for making important drugs.” List has been a
member of ACS for 21 years. He is the winner of the Herbert C. Brown Award for
Creative Research in Synthetic Methods for 2022, which is sponsored by the Purdue
Borane Research Fund and the Herbert C. Brown Award Endowment. In addition, he
won the Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award in 2014, which is currently sponsored by the
Arthur C. Cope Fund. MacMillan has been a member of ACS for 26 years. He won the
ACS Award for Creative Work in Synthetic Organic Chemistry in 2011, which is
currently sponsored by Millipore Sigma; the Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award in 2007,
which is currently sponsored by the Arthur C. Cope Fund; the Elias J. Corey Award for
Outstanding Original Contribution in Organic Synthesis by a Young Investigator in
2005, which is currently sponsored by the Pfizer Endowment Fund; and the Gabor A.
Somorjai Award for Creative Research in Catalysis in 2018, which is currently
sponsored by the Gabor A. and Judith K. Somorjai Endowment Fund. Both winners
have published articles in some of ACS’ more than 65 peer-reviewed journals.
Carefully read the article above. Explain the meaning of 4 sentences below in english.
Emphasize on the bold and underline words.
A. “Asymmetric organo-catalysis offers a new way of thinking and a more
sustainable way of carrying out crucial chemical reactions,” says Cheng.
B. “In the big picture, the ability to create new compounds to address human
problems is the strength of chemistry.
C. Chemists are like magicians, and with asymmetric organo-catalysis, we have a
