Curtain Wall Types, and Instance Parameters

Exercise_01
1. Start Revit 2020

2. Open the file Exercise_01.rvt

3. You are at South elevation view

4. You have three walls, each representing a type of the curtain wall in Revit

5. Select Curtain Wall, using Properties, you can’t change Vertical and
Horizontal Grid, because there are none. But you can see the Length and
the Area

6. Select Exterior Glazing, using Properties, what is the number of Vertical


Grid? __________, count the vertical lines, you will discover that the number
mentioned doesn’t cover the two edges.

7. Under Vertical Grid, change Justification to be End, what happened?

9. Under Horizontal Grid, change Offset to be 1000mm, what happened?

Layout Types

Exercise_02
1. Start Revit 2020

2. Open the file Exercise_02.rvt

3. You are at South elevation view. You will see four storefront walls, each has
different layout setup

4. Zoom to the first one at the left, which was set for Fixed Distance layout.
From Properties, click Edit Type button, under Construction try the four types
of Join Condition

5. Under Vertical Grid, change to 1500mm, accordingly, number of panel


increased. Close the Edit Type dialog box

6. Select the second one from the left which is set for Fixed Number layout.
From Properties, click Edit Type button, you can’t set the number from Type
Parameters, you need to set it from Instance Parameters. Close the Edit
Type dialog box

7. Count the number of gridlines vertically, you will find them four. From
Properties, under Vertical Grid, set the Number to be 5. A new line was
introduced and Distance changed to 1667mm instead of 2000mm

8. Select the third one from the left which was set for Maximum Spacing layout.
Change the overall dimension from 10000mm to 11000mm, what happened
to the wall? ___________________________________________________

9. Add dimensions to the panels (Hint: use [Tab])

10. Select the wall, click Edit Type, under Vertical Grid, click Adjust for Mullion
Size checkbox on, click OK.

11. What is the new width of the panel? ____________________

12. Add aligned dimension for the width of all panels. All of them are equal
except the left one and the right one

13. Select the wall, click Edit Type, under Vertical Grid, switch on the checkbox
Adjust for Mullion Size. What happened? _________________________

14. Close the Edit Type dialog box


15. Select the last wall at the right, which was set for Minimum Spacing layout.
Change the overall dimension from 10000mm to 9000mm, what happened to
the wall? ___________________________________________________

16. Save and close the file


Curtain Grid

Exercise_03
1. Start Revit 2020

2. Open the file Exercise_03.rvt

3. You are at South elevation view

4. Using the left Curtain Wall, and using Curtain Grid command, add the
following Curtain Grids:

5. Using the Exterior Glazing, Using Edit Type dialog box, change the vertical
Grid to Fixed Distance = 2000mm
6. Using Unpin, and Add/Remove Segments command, do the necessary to
make the following shape:

7. Using Curtain Grid command, add grid lines so the Exterior Glazing will look
like the following:

8. Save and close the file


Our Project

Exercise_04
1. Start Revit 2020

2. Open the file Exercise_04.rvt

3. This is our project

4. Go to Level 1 floor plan view, as you can see, Underlay is set to see the
Roof level

5. For the South part of the building, start Wall command, and select Exterior
Glazing type. Set the Base Constraint = Level 1 with no base offset, and set
the Top Constraint = Roof. Draw an arc starting from left to right using the
arc wall

6. For the East part of the building, start Wall command, and select Storefront
type. Set the Base Constraint = Level 1 with no base offset, and set the Top
Constraint = Roof. Draw the wall using the existing wall

7. Start Wall command, and select Storefront. Click Edit Type, click Duplicate,
and name the new type Storefront2, click OK

8. For the North part of the building, start Wall command, and select
Storefront2 type. Set the Base Constraint = Level 1 with no base offset, and
set the Top Constraint = Level 3. Draw the wall using the lines of floor

9. For Exterior Glazing, Storefront, and Storefront2, set the Vertical, and
Horizontal Grid to be Fixed Distance with 2000mm

10. Save and close the file


Mullions

Exercise_05
1. Start Revit 2020

2. Open the file Exercise_05.rvt

3. Go to South elevation view

4. Start Mullion command, select Circular Mullion 50mm Radius, in the context
tab, select All Grid Lines, and select the semi-circular exterior glazing curtain
wall. Look at it in 3D view

5. Select the whole semi-circular exterior glazing curtain wall, click Edit Type
button, under Vertical Mullion, set Border 1 Type, and Border 2 Type to be
Quad Corner Mullion : Quad Mullion 1

6. A warning will come up, read it, and click OK

7. Start Mullion command, select Quad Corner Mullion – Quad Corner 1. Click
Edit Type, Duplicate, accept the new name (Quad Corner 2), and change
Depth 1, and Depth 2 to be 200mm. Click OK to end the command

8. Let’s fix the corner mullion of the East Storefront. While in 3D view zoom to
one of the corners of the east storefront.

9. Select the mullion at the bottom, right-click, choose Select Mullions, then
select On Gridline option, unpin them, then delete them

10. Back to the same corner, select the mullion at the bottom, right-click, choose
Select Mullions, then select On Gridline option, unpin them, from Properties,
change the type to Quad Corner 2

11. Do the same procedure to other corner

12. For the north storefront, do the same procedure but use V Corner Mullion

13. Go to Level 2, and check the shape of the mullion in 2D

14. Save and close the file


Adding Doors, Windows, and changing the panel
material

Exercise_06
1. Start Revit 2020

2. Open the file Exercise_06.rvt

3. Go to North elevation view

4. Go to Insert tab, and locate Load from Library panel, and click Load Family
button, from US Metric folder, locate Doors, and load the following family:
M_Door-Curtain-Wall-Double-Storefront.rfa, click Open to finish the
process of the loading

5. Select the bottom rightmost panel

6. From Type selector, you will find the door you just loaded. Select it and it will
replace the panel

7. Repeat the same process for the bottom third panel from the right, you
should get the following result:

8. Pick the mullion at the bottom of each door, and delete it

9. Select one of the curtain gridline at the left of the second door at the left, and
move it to the right, what happened to the size of the door? _____________

10. Undo the last step


11. Go to East elevation view

12. Go to Insert tab, and locate Load from Library panel, and click Load Family
button, from US Metric folder, locate Windows, and load the following family:
M_Curtain Wall Awning.rfa, click Open to finish the process of the loading

13. Select the whole wall, from Properties, click Edit Type, change the Vertical
Grid to Minimum Spacing and set the Spacing to 3000mm, press [Esc]

14. Select the top middle panel, and right-click, choose Select Panels, then
Along Vertical Grid

15. Unpin the selected panels

16. From Type selector, you will find the window you just loaded. Select it and it
will replace the panels

17. Go to North

18. Select one of the panels (unpin it if necessary), click Edit Type, click
Duplicate, and name the new panel My Panel

19. In the dialog box, locate Material (which will be Glass) and click the small
button at the right with three dots inside it.

20. Right-click Glass material, and Duplicate it and call it Glass Colored

21. At the right pane, right-click Appearance tab, and select Duplicate. Under
Information call it Green. Under Glazing select Color = Green, click OK twice
to end the command

22. Assign randomly few panels to hold My Panel for the panel family

23. In order to see the effect of what you did, change the Visual Style = Realistic

24. Save and close the file


Creating Curved and Angled Mullions

Exercise_07
1. Start Revit 2020

2. Open the file Exercise_07.rvt

3. You are at West elevation view

4. Go to Level 1 floor plan view

5. Zoom to the wall covering the staircase, start Storefront wall, and draw a wall
2000mm in length, from Level 1 to Roof minus 1000mm. Make sure that the
wall is at the middle of the basic wall using dimensions

6. Go to West elevation view, select the whole wall you just create, from
context tab, click Edit Profile, delete the top horizontal line, and add Start-
End-Radius arc using the two ends of vertical lines and radius = 1000mm,
click () to end the command. When the error message comes up click
Delete Elements button

7. Using Curtain Grid command, add two vertical gridlines 500mm from each
edge

8. Using Detail Line command, draw a horizontal line from end of the two
vertical mullions. Then draw an arc using Start-End-Radius arc with
radius = 500mm, just the like the following:

9. Delete the two vertical top mullions, and remove the segment gridline behind
them (segment – not the whole gridline)

10. Select the whole wall, and click Edit Profile, change the profile according to
inner vertical mullions, and the arc you just draw
11. That is the shape you should get:

12. Delete the two vertical top mullions, and remove the segment gridline behind
them (segment – not the whole gridline)

13. Go to Level 1 floor plan view

14. Start Wall – Storefront, from Level 1 to Level 5, and draw it between the two
separated storefronts

15. Go to West elevation view, select the new created storefront, and Edit the
profile, to fit into the void

16. Using Curtain Grid add a gridline above the newly created arc mullion

17. Remove the redundant mullions, and delete Detail Lines

18. Create a Reference Plane at the center of glass of the storefront, and call it
Center_of_Glass, just like below:
19. Go to 3D view

20. Select the following panel:

21. Unpin it, and at the context tab, click edit In-Place button

22. At Create tab, locate Workplane panel, and click Set button, from Name
option, select Center_of_Glass reference plane

23. Start Sweep command, click Sketch Path, locate the center of the arc, move
to the right (make sure you are seeing 135 o as angle) and draw 950mm
length

24. Start Trim/Extend Single Elements, select the top of the arced mullion, then
the part of the path which will stay, click () to end the creation of the path.

25. Click Edit Profile button, using Line draw a rectangle of 50 x 150 mm at the
center of the red dot, click () to end the creation of the profile, then click ()
to end the creation of the sweep.

26. While the new mullion is still selected, from Properties, click Material button,
and assign Aluminum

27. Click () to end the creation of the In-Place model

28. Do the same procedure for the left part

29. Add two horizontal Curtain Grid to get this final product:

30. Save and close the file


Creating Louvre

Exercise_08
1. Start Revit 2020

2. Open the file Exercise_08.rvt

3. Go to Level 1

4. Zoom to the straight west wall

5. Start Reference Plane command, and draw one at the middle of the wall. Still
in the same command, create another two each is 1500mm from each side.
This what you should get:

6. Start Wall command, and pick Curtain wall, Edit Type, Duplicate, and call it
Special Curtain Wall. Turn on Automatically Embed checkbox, and click OK
to end the command. Set Base Constraint = Level 1, with 2000mm offset,
and Top Constraint to be Roof, then draw the 3000mm between the two
reference planes

7. Go to Level 2 floor plan view, create a section like the following:


8. Double-click the head of the section to go to the section view

9. Use [Tab] key to panel of the special curtain wall, click Edit Type, Duplicate,
call the new panel, Special Panel then set offset to be 75mm

10. Go to Level 2 floor plan view

11. Start wall command, and select Curtain Wall, Edit Type, Duplicate, and call it
Special Decorative Wall, for Horizontal Grid set Layout to Fixed Distance and
set spacing to 2000mm, with Adjust to Mullions is off. Click OK

12. Set Base Constraint = Level 1, with 2000mm offset, and Top Constraint to be
Roof, then draw the 3000mm between the two reference planes in front of
the old one

13. Go to 3D view

14. Start Mullion command, and select Rectangular Mullion 50 x 150mm, and
select the four edges of the new wall

15. Create a new Rectangular Mullion call it 30 x 110mm, change Thickness to


be 110mm, and Width on Side 1 = Width on Side 2 = 15mm, and apply it to
the horizontal grid

16. Create a new Rectangular Mullion call it 10 x 90mm, Set Angle = 10,
Thickness to be 90mm, and Width on Side 1 = Width on Side 2 = 5mm, click
OK to end the command, press [Esc] twice

17. Select one of the panels (use [Tab] key), from Type selector select Curtain
Wall, then Edit Type, Duplicate, and call it Horizontal Louvre

18. For Curtain Panel select Empty System Panel: Empty

19. For Horizontal Grid set Fixed Distance, and Spacing = 250mm, with Adjust to
Mullions is off

20. For Horizontal Mullions Interior = Rectangular Mullion 10 x 90mm, click OK


to end the command

21. Select another panel, then right-click, and choose Select Panels / Panel on
Host, then from Type selector select Horizontal Louvre

22. Move the whole wall and fix it in the same in front of the Special Curtain Wall
(Hint: Use the section view to help you fix it in the right place)

23. Save and close the file


Creating your own Mullion Profile

Exercise_09
1. Start Revit 2020

2. Open the file Exercise_09.rvt

3. Start a new family based on Metric Profile.rft

4. Start Family Category and Parameters, under Profile Usage select Mullion and
click OK

5. Create the following profile, using reference planes, detail lines, dimension,
and label dimensions to create parameters:

6. Use Align command, to constraint the two horizontal and vertical reference
planes with the end of the four lines

7. Go to Family Types dialog box, and create two sizes 250 x 30mm, and
300 x 40mm

8. Save the family as Louvre_Type1.rfa, and Load it into Project


9. Start a new family file and call it Louvre_Type2.rfa based on the same family
template. Do the following:

10. Set one size only 300 x 40mm

11. Save and load it into the project

12. Go to Exercise_09.rvt

13. Start Mullion command, click Edit Type, Duplicate and call it Louvre_Type1

14. For Profile, select Louvre_Type1 : 300 x 40mm

15. Duplicate again, and call it Louvre_Type2

16. For Profile select Louvre_Type2 : 150 x 40mm

17. Click OK, and press [Esc] twice

18. Go to 3D view, and zoom to the louvre you made in the previous exercise

19. Select the panel which you called it Horizontal Louvre, click Edit Type, and
scroll to the Horizontal Mullions – Interior Type and select Louvre_Type1, and
click OK

20. While you are at 3D view, zoom to East elevation

21. Select one of the horizontal mullions, right-click, choose Select Mullions / On
Horizontal Grid, from Type selector select Louvre_Type2

22. Select the whole wall, Edit Type, for Join Condition, select Horizontal Grid
Continuous.
23. Do the same for the other wall in East elevation

24. This is the first result:

26. Save and close the file


Creating Custom Curtain Wall Panel

Exercise_10
1. Start Revit 2020

2. Open the file Exercise_10.rvt

3. Go to File / Open / Family, go to Curtain Wall Panels folder, and open


M_Glazed Panel.rfa

4. Save As the family Decorative_Panel.rfa

5. Go to Floor Plans, double-click on Base Line view

6. Create a reference plane just like the following:

7. Call the reference plane My_Plane

8. Go to Exterior view

9. Go to Create tab, locate Workplane panel, click Set, and from Name list,
select My_Plane reference plane

10. Draw four reference planes 200mm to the inside from each edge:
11. Dimension the four edges to 200mm, and lock them all

12. Using Model Line draw a diagonal line connecting left upper corner with the
right lower corner

13. Using Model Line, and Pick Lines using 50mm offset value, click the
diagonal line twice one up and one down. Delete the original diagonal line

14. Start Extrusion command, set Depth = -5mm. Draw two trinalges, and click
() to end the command. You will get the following shape:

15. Delete the two Model Lines (Hint: use [Tab] key to select)

16. Select the two triangles, from Properties, click inside Material field so you
can see the small button with three dots, then click it, you will see the
Material Browser, select Glass, and Duplicate it, call it Glass Yellow.

17. Click Appearance tab from the right, right-click it, Duplicate it, under
Information, change the name to Glass Yellow. Under Glazing, Color, click
the list, and select Custom, click Custom Color set the color to be: Red 204,
Green 204, Blue 0. Click OK twice

18. Load into Project. Using 3D view, change the panel as shown below to the
new panel:
19. Save and close the two files
Creating Slanted Curtain Wall

Exercise_11
1. Start Revit 2020

2. Open the file Exercise_11.rvt

3. Start Model In-Place command, and select Mass. It will show you a message
stating it will enable the Show Mass Mode, click Close, and call the new
mass First_Option

4. Start Model Line and draw a line (Placement Plane = Level 1) following the
existing line at the left. Copy the Model Line to Level 4. Go to Level 4 floor
plan view, and move the line downwards by 4500mm

5. Go to 3D view, select the two lines, and click Create Form. From the three
options, select the plane, and click Finish Mass

6. Read and close the warning message. Start Curtain System command, click
Edit Type, Duplicate and call the new system 1500 x 1500mm, change Grid
1, and Grid 2 to be Maximum Spacing, with Spacing = 1500mm, select the
plane you just created, from context tab click Create System. Delete the
mass

7. Go to Level 1, start Wall Architecture select CW 102-85-100p wall family, set


Base = Level 1, and Top = Level 4, change Location Line = Finish Face
Interior, start from left to right, and draw 10000mm from the three sides

8. Look at the model in 3D view, and change the wall profile of the two walls
attached to the curtain system

9. Go to Level 1, and start Model In-Place command, and select Mass. Call the
new mass Second_Option

10. Start Model Line and draw a rectangle (Placement Plane = Level 1) following
the existing rectangle at the middle. Copy the rectangle to Level 4. Go to
Level 4 floor plan view, and move the front horizontal line downwards by
4500mm

11. Go to 3D view, select the two rectangles, and click Create Form. Click Finish
Mass

12. Start command Wall by Face, select CW 102-85-100p wall family (if it is not
selected), and select the two sides, and the back. For the front use Curtain
System 1500 x 1500mm. Delete the mass
13. Go to Level 1, and start Model In-Place command, and select Mass. Call the
new mass Third_Option

14. Start Model Line and draw a rectangle (Placement Plane = Level 1) following
the existing rectangle at the right. Copy the rectangle to Level 4. Go to Level
4 floor plan view, and move the front horizontal line downwards by 4500mm

15. Go to 3D view, select the two rectangles, and click Create Form. Click Finish
Mass

16. Start command Wall by Face, select CW 102-85-100p wall family (if it is not
selected), and select all sides

17. Select the mass, using context tab, click Edit In-Place button

18. Go to Modify tab, locate Work Plane panel click Set button, and click the
outside face of the slanted wall, then click Show button to make sure you did
the right step

19. Draw a model line from the middle of the top edge to the middle of the
bottom edge. Using Pick Lines tool, set Offset value = 2500mm, and offset
the line to the right and left. Delete the middle line and link the two vertical
lines with two horizontal line to form a rectangle

20. Select the four lines, and click Void Form, click Finish Mass

21. Select the slanted face, from context tab, click Update to Face button

22. Delet the mass

23. Go to Level 1 floor plan, and start Model In-Place command, and select
Mass. Call the new mass Partial

24. Draw a rectangle just like the following:


25. Copy the rectangle to Level 4. Go to Level 4 floor plan view, and move the
front horizontal line downwards by 4500mm

26. Go to 3D view, select the two rectangles, and click Create Form. Click Finish
Mass

27. Start command Wall by Face, for the slanted face select Curtain System
1500 x 1500mm. Delete the mass

28. Save and close the file


Create Adaptive Curtain Wall – Part I

Exercise_12
1. Start Revit 2020

2. Open the file Exercise_12.rvt

3. Go to Level 1 floor plan view

4. Delete the existing curved curtain wall

5. Start Mass In-Place, and select Mass, click OK, accept the default name

6. Draw an arc in the place of the deleted curtain wall, and align it with the
center of the parapet in the roof level

7. Copy it to the Roof level

8. Select the two arcs, and Create Form

9. Select the newly created mass, from context tab, click Divide Surface button

10. From Properties, select Rectangle pattern, in Options bar, set Distance in
horizontal and vertical to be 2000mm

11. Click Finish Mass (), read the warning the close it

12. Go to File tab, start a new family based on: Metric Curtain Panel Pattern
Based.rft

13. Selec the blaue frame, and from Properties, set the Horizontal and Vertical
spacing = 2000mm
14. Draw a vertical line from the mid of the upper line to the mid of the lower line,
then draw a circle R = 500mm and mid of the vertical line

15. Delete the vertical line

16. Draw four diagonal lines from the four corners using angle 45o touching the
circle as following:

17. Insert Point Element on the circle and the four diagonal along with the right,
and bottom lines, just like the following:
18. Using each point, make it plane to draw on it, and draw 6-side Inscribed
Polygon with R =40mm

19. Select the four edges of the shape, and create a form (that sould represent
the flat glass)

20. Select each line with the corresponding polygon to create the shapes, you
will end with the following shape:

21. Assign Glass material to the flat shape, and Aluminum to the other elements

22. Save As the family as My_First_Pattern.rfa

23. Load into Project

24. Select the curved mass, Edit In-Place, select the mass again, from
Properties, select My_First_Pattern
25. You should get something like the following:

26. Save and close the file


Create Adaptive Curtain Wall – Part II

Exercise_13
1. Start Revit 2020

2. Open the file Exercise_13.rvt

3. Go to Mass & Site tab, and click Show Mass Form & Floors

4. Go to File tab, start a new family based on: Metric Curtain Panel Pattern
Based.rft

5. From Properties select Rectangle pattern (if it was not selected)

6. Selec the blue frame, from Properties, set the Horizontal and Vertical
spacing = 2000mm

7. Using Model Line, draw a scratch line from the midpoint of the top line, to the
midpoint of the bottom line, then add a Point Element to the mid of the newly
created line

8. Delete the scracth line, click the point, from Properties set Offset = 750mm

9. Select the new point, and select one of the corner points (Hold [Ctrl] while
selecting the second point), from Draw panel, click Spline Through Points, a
line will connect the two points. Repeat the process with the other three
corner points (ignore all warning messages). This is the result:
10. Using ViewCube click Home

11. In the horizontal plane draw an arc Start-End-Radius (R=3750mm) between


the lower two corners

12. Do the same thing for the upper two corners. This is the result:

13. Select three edges in each side to create four planes

14. Assign Glass material to all four planes. This is the result:

15. For the two sides with arcs, select the line first, then the arc, create plane.
Assign Aluminum to these two planes.

16. Save the family as My_Secoond_Pattern.rfa

17. Load into Project

18. Go to Exercise_13.rvt, and select the mass, Edit In-Place, select it again, and
from Properties select Rectangle - My_Secoond_Pattern. While selected, from
Properties, under U Grid, and V Grid set Justification to Beginning. Click Finish
Mass ()

19. Go to Level 2, you will notice, that we need to rotate the wall by 180 o. Rotate,
then allign to the edge of the floor, and one of the walls

20. Save and close the two files


Artistic Wall

Exercise_14
1. Start Revit 2020

2. Open the file Exercise_14.rvt

3. Go to elevation view called Special_Wall

4. Go to Insert tab, locate Import panel, click Import CAD, and import
Artistic.dwg, making sure that Import units = millimeter, and Positioning =
Manual – Origin, Current view only is turned on. Click Open, then insert it at
the lower left corner of the wall

5. Using Crossing, select from the top, click Filter, click Check None, and select
Artistic.dwg. From Options bar, change Background to Foreground. You will
see now the AutoCAD file

6. Click the Curtain Wall, and click Edit Profile

7. Delete the four lines of the profile, then using Pick Lines tool, select all the
curves in the AutoCAD file

8. Click () to end the command

9. Now you have a basic wall with glass opening

10. Go to 3D view, and change Visual Style = Realistic

11. Save and close the file


Real Curved Curtain Wall

Exercise_15
1. Start Revit 2020

2. Open the file Exercise_15.rvt

3. Go to Level 1 floor plan view

4. Start Wall: Architectural command

5. From Type selector, select Generic - 200mm, Edit Type, Duplicate, call the
new type Special_Glass

6. Locate Structure parameter, and click Edit. You have one layer only. Change
the material to Glass, and set Thickness = 25mm

7. Click the button Preview, and change the View to Section: Modify type

8. Click Sweeps, Add the default profile, and change the material to Aluminium,
click OK two times to close all opened dialog boxes

9. Still in the Wall: Architectural command, select Curtain Wall type, Edit Type,
Duplicate and call the new type: Special_Curtain_Wall
10. Do the following changes as below:

11. While you are at Level 1 floor plan view, draw a curve curtain wall in the void
according to the parapet above

12. You can add vertical mullions manually or using the above dialog box,
choose Rectangular Mullion 50 x 150mm

13. Look at 3D view, you will notice the vertical mullions are outside. Select one
of them (unpin it if needed), click Edit Type, and set Offset value = 75 mm.
Everything seems in place

14. Save and close the file


Roof Glazing

Exercise_16
1. Start Revit 2020

2. Open the file Exercise_16.rvt

3. Go to Roof floor plan view

4. Zoom to the building to the right

5. Start Roof by Footprint command, from Type selector, select Sloped Glazing
type. In Options bar, turn on Define slope checkbox

6. Using Pick Lines, pick the four lines of opening inside the roof, click () to end
the command

7. Go to 3D view, select the sloped glazing you just created, from Properties,
change the value of Base Offset From Level to be 333mm (the thickness of
the roof slab). If you go to Edit Type, you will find the same parameters you
found in Curtain Walls. Change Grid 1 Layout to be Minimum Spacing with
spacing 1500mm

8. Start Curtain Grid command, and using the long side of the sloped glazing,
add a line in the middle panel just like the following (don’t worry about the
dimension):
9. In the new mullions add a window (curtain wall window)

10. Go to Roof floor plan view

11. Zoom to the building at the middle

12. Go to Massing & Site tab, locate Conceptual Mass panel, click Place Mass
command. On the message which tells you that there are no loaded families
of masses, click Yes, go to Mass folder, and search for M_Dome.rfa and
load it

13. In the Options bar, check if Placement Plane is Level: Roof. Using Object
Snap locate the center of the existing circular opening (you can type SC)

14. Go to 3D, you will not see the dome you created. Go to Massing & Site tab,
locate Conceptual Mass panel, click Show Mass Form and Floors button

15. Click on the created dome, in Properties, you will find that Radius = 4250mm
and Height = 4750mm. Keep these values without change

16. Start Curtain System command, click Edit Type, Duplicate, and call the new
system 1500 x 1500 mm. Make the following changes:
17. Go to Roof floor plan view

18. Zoom to the building at the left

19. Start Model In-Place command, select Mass, and accept the default name

20. Using Draw Line, and Pick Line, do as below:

21. Draw another line over the vertical line to represent the revolve axis (ignore
the warning). Select the closed shape and the line, and click Create Form.
Go to 3D and select the three parts created, from Porperties change the End
Angle to 180o. Click Finish Mass button

22. Start Curtain System command, click Edit Type, Duplicate, and call the new
system Equal 6 x 4 Nos. Make the following changes:
23. Click OK, and select the three part of mass

24. While the curtain system is selected, and using Properties, do the following
changes:

25. You may need to add some mullions manually

26. Save and close
