Project Proposal

1.1 Abstract
Here we want to create an online crime reporting system which is well accessible to the general
public and the department of local government. The traditional public in Asian country is afraid to
lodge a grievance as a result of their false worry regarding the department of local government. A
web grievance registering system can allay the fears of the general public and can conjointly
facilitate within the public serving to the department of local government in catching criminals. This
system has been taken as a protective and safety-based application for both public and government
interest. This website is easy to view. It is simply accessible to anyone who is sixteen years and
above. This website will provide user with a profile under which he/she can add things.
1.2 Introduction
Crime may be a part of outlaw activities in human life. it’s quite obvious that the speed of
crimes is increasing day by day altogether societies across the globe, however we tend to do believe
that there’s loads which may be done by each the governments and therefore the people to cut
back the crimes in communities. So, here we tend to propose a web crime reportage system that
permits the user to file misconduct reports and keep a track of it. To file complaints, the user
ought to register in to the system and supply his right credentials to file them. SQL is a back-end to
store books lists and inventory info.
Crime Reporting System has been developed to override the problems prevailing in the practicing
of the manual system. This software is supported to eliminate and, in some cases, reduce the
hardships faced by the existing system. The system, has each the user likewise, the Admin half, the
role of admin is to merely check all the modules or classes and update their standing likewise.
The main scope of this project is to develop web-based crime management and reporting system
which is easily accessible to people. This system provides proper safekeeping of data and reduces
the manual work. It also tries to eliminate or reduce difficulties up to some extent. The system is
user-friendly and the assigned staffs can easily do their jobs without time lag.
Only the authorized user can access some confidential part of the system such as editing, deleting,
updating the crime or the criminal records and has the authorization to add other users.

1.3 Problem Statement

The process of reporting crimes to security agencies still remains very difficult. The platforms are
also unidirectional in the sense that they do not have feedback for the member of the society. The
existing system do not support sharing of relevant information with other security agencies, thereby
because owners of these platforms want to take all the praise; while in actual security is being
reinforced when relevant and meaningful information is shared with the security stakeholders
towards offering an excellent service. All these make our system questionable and irresponsible.
We propose a platform that will practically address above issues among security agencies, gives
feedback and strengthen the overall security service.
1.4 Objectives
To develop a web application that demonstrates that the process of reporting, evaluating and
investigating crimes should not be torturous and that the model can be adopted for designing newer
crime reporting platforms.
Our objective is to propose a system that caters for reporting all kinds of crimes, gives feedback and
sustain the process of crime investigation and correction. The applications will be accessible over the
internet on computers and other mobile devices. No other hardware resources will be required and
the evaluation will be mainly experimental.
The system will be containing 2 major modules with their sub-modules as follows:

1. Admin:
 Login: Admin can login in his personal account using id and password
 View Complaints: Admin can view the complaints.
 Update cases: Admin can update the crime cases.

2. User:

 User Registration: User has to register to file complaints, crimes or missing report.
 User Login: User can login to system to file and check the status of his complaints or missing
reports.
 Complaints: Complaints consist of basic details the system asks and the user has to fill in
order to register a complaint and check the status of his complaints.
 Crimes: Crimes consist of all the details that the user has to fill in to register a complaint and
provide a picture, if he has one related to the crime, also can check the status of the crimes he
has filed.
 Missing Persons: The System asks the user to enter all the details of the person with a
photograph. The system also allows the user to check the status his previous filed cases.
 Without Login: The System allows the user to check for crimes against the pin code provided
by the user. The User can also check for missing people.

1.6 Proposed Methodology/System
We will start coding using HTML or JavaScript for the graphical user interface. MySQL is used in
designing a robust database and might be PHP for the application logic which enables
communication between the front-end and the back-end of the system. We will ensure synchronizing
of the software and hardware to make sure that these two components are working together. All the
units developed in the implementation phase, the entire system and the hardware will be tested for
any errors and failures.

In this system there will be two different interfaces, one is the public portal in which
registration can be done by the public sector and then comes the other portal which is the admin
portal which is controlled by government organization.
 So, if any user has to file a misconduct report then this is the best system where he/she can
file it online through the public portal, where they will first do the registration and then file
the report.
 The records are kept stored for the further welfare
 All the criminal or any types of misconduct will be stored and all the detail about the culprit
will be there.
 So in this system they can know about the criminals and local goons who are always
highlighted and be precocious about it.
 In the public portal they only provide an username so that whenever they login again they do
not have to do this again and again and their profile is created after the registration and it is
stored.
 Now, comes the admins portal this controlled by the government organization who look after
all the reports which have been submitted by the user.
 Both the government organization and the user can add any incident or accident or any
offensive attempt which is violating the law.
