Correlation Radiometer ASIC: Technical Summary Operational Capabilities (Expected)

The document discusses the development of an ASIC chip that facilitates correlation radiometer systems for Earth observation missions. The ASIC integrates both analog and digital signal processing to reduce the size, power, cost, and complexity of radiometer systems. It is expected to sample signals at up to 20 GS/s, digitize them with 4 ADCs at 2 bits each, split the signals into 64 sub-bands using a programmable polyphase filter bank, and cross-correlate the signals within each band to extract measurement data. The ASIC aims to enable correlation radiometers to operate continuously at 100% duty cycle for space and airborne applications.
