Practice teaching is a culmination of your professional education. This experience which is provided by your
education course in your last year of pre-service education serves as the transitional phase between your past role of full-time
student and your future role of full time teacher. During the period of practice teaching, you will be playing a dual role at the
same time that of teacher and student. You will serve as an apprentice teacher who will first observe cooperating teachers,
participate in a little in the routine teaching tasks, and eventually begin to teach on your own under the guidance of your
cooperating teacher.
During your practice teaching period, you will be exposed to various ideas, forces, and activities operating within a
school. In view of the multiplicity of experiences in total pattern of practice teaching, it may not be possible for you to
experience everything. To profit most from practice teaching, you should seek out as many experiences as possible, involving
yourself more in those areas where you feel yourself weakest and most likely to encounter difficulty as a full-time teacher
later.’
In the Philippines, teaching is considered as a profession. And like other professions, it requires an extended period
of specialized pre-service preparation and eventual licensing before the candidate is authorized to become a practitioner.
1. To provide opportunities for teachers-to-be to apply in actual situations the principles learned regarding the teaching-
learning process.

Practice teaching is generally composed of two areas of experiences-observation and participation and actual teaching on
campus and off campus. These areas of experience are design to equip you for effective teaching.
In assuming the new role of a student teacher, student teachers should have a clear picture of what they should do during
the internship period. The practice teaching program can be implemented more effectively if the student teachers know
what their responsibilities and duties are in fulfilling their role as prospective teachers and molders of young boys and
girls. It is therefore the task of the teacher training mentors to let the student teachers be aware of the responsibilities and
4. Makes content meaningful by using appropriate methods of teaching and instructional materials;
Among the objectives of the student teacher are to gain insight into teaching skills and to develop professional
integrity; it is therefore necessary that he should be aware of his responsibilities and duties. These are summarized in the
following Code for Student Teacher.
A. Responsibility to the Pupil
1. The student teacher is a professional practitioner in his relationship with his pupils. All data concerning the
school and the pupils must be kept confidential.
2. The student teacher refrains from imposing his religious or political views upon his pupils.
3. The student teacher is an example to his pupil physically, mentally, intellectually, morally, and ethically.
4. The student teacher recognizes his continuing need for understanding child growth and development.
5. The student teacher deals sympathetically with each pupil without prejudice or partiality.
1. The student teacher acts only through accepted channels of communication and
authority in the school system.
3. The student teacher assumes only the authority, which has been delegated to him. The training teacher is
legally responsible for, and in control of the class.
4. The student teacher respects the professional rights and personal dignity of the Supervising Instructor and
Cooperating teacher, as well as of the staff members, the Director of Practice Teaching, and student observers
in the classroom situation.
5. The student teacher recognizes that any misconduct is a reflection upon the teacher training institution, which
he represents. The student teacher should uphold the standards of the institution in his professional conduct.

1. The student teacher shows pride in, and considers himself a member of the profession. He acts according to
2. The student teacher maintains membership in, and otherwise supports professional organizations.
3. The student teacher is a reader. He keeps up to date on professional matters and current affairs.
4. It is the student teacher’s responsibility to be informed about the legal aspects of his professional practice
and certification.
Pre-Teaching Experiences
There are two activities that you will undergo before actual classroom teaching. These are the orientation
Observation of Classes
These are the first few days wherein you will gain your first experiences in practice teaching in the cooperating
school where you are assigned. Here you will be oriented to various activities like actual classroom observation and
gradual participation in some activities directed by the cooperating teacher. You will be oriented to your cooperating
After the first two weeks of orientation, you will be formally observing and participating in the classroom. You
have to be systematic and manifest a positive outlook in your observations to get the most from these experiences. You
will not act as critic but as student teacher who wants to learn and improve oneself.

The Sinonoc National High School was established in 1982 under the name of Sinonoc Barangay High
School through the concerted efforts of the late Vice Governor Eufracio D. Lood and the late Cesar S. Gamotin.
The mission of the School was to provide students of Sinacaban and the neighboring town with a quality,
independent education that focused on engaging and active learning, a commitment to the environment and
dedication to the school and local communities. Located 560 meters away from the National Highway, the school
opened its doors with only 2 classrooms, offering First Year only, with only 3teachers, to wit, Mrs. Valentina
Langub, Mrs. Menehaha Subrado and Mrs. Maria Corazon Jalapit, and the other year levels in the succeeding
years, with additional four teachers, namely Ms. Ione Xenos (now Mrs. Ione X. Canonigo), Ms. Elvira Lagarbe,
Mr. Diosdado Dela Cruz and Mrs. Mamier dela Cruz, and was able to produce the first batch of high School
graduates in the school year 1985-1986, Since its opening , the school’s dynamic educational environment has
continued to evolve.
Through the Republic Act No. 6655 otherwise known as the “Free Education Act of 1988”, the school
became a newly nationalized high school, thus, SINONOC NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL became its new
institutional name.
The acquisition of its current location was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the General
Parent-Teachers Association (GPTCA) officials and the late Vice Governor Eufracio D. Lood together with
counterpart Mr. Cesar S. Gamotin. In addition to the 7,538 square meter lot, additional lot was purchased by the

Before we deploy seminar was conducted about TMDI method I learned a lot from Dr. Samuel Silacan for sharing to
us this kind of method about TMDI. TMDI stands for Transactional Model and Direct Instruction) as the method in
making a lesson plan. There are four belongs of Transactional Model in Presentation are Overview, Practice,
Assessment & Evaluation and the last one is Monitoring and Feedback. Also the Direct Instruction is the use of
straightforward, explicit teaching techniques, usually to teach a specific skill. It is a teacher-directed method, meaning
that the teacher stands in front of a classroom and presents the information. It might be a lesson in which the teacher
very clearly outlines. Direct Instruction is an evidenced based teaching method. The term direct instruction refers to
instructional approaches that are structured, sequenced, and led by teachers, and/or the presentation of academic
content to students by teachers, such as in a lecture or demonstration. In other words, teachers “directing” the
. While a classroom lecture is perhaps the image most commonly associated with direct instruction, the term
encompasses a wide variety of fundamental teaching techniques and potential instructional scenario. Example,
presenting a video or film to students could be considered a form of direct instruction (even though the teacher is not
actively in structuring students, the content and presentation of material was determined by the teacher.

Ma’am Mary Jane Moralia thought us on how to use the school register and class record, she gives us also an advices
when we enter our cooperating school like we must be respectful and obedience to our cooperating teacher. When you
are going to tech act like a teacher, don’t hurt your students even if your students are hard headed you must control
emotion, extend your patience as a teacher not all students have a good attitude, help your students when he/she needs
you, do not sale foods within your classroom, always ask permission to your cooperating teacher don’t be a shame to
As we all know that practice teaching is not easy because you felt nervous in front of the class. As we can say or my
observation that student teacher is very busy for making a lesson plan, visual aids and etc. So that when you begin
teaching as student teacher you must have stock knowledge/prior knowledge to share with your students because it is
very important/imperative when you teach students if you have this knowledge.
This is my second home is the home for my improvement, wherein I could able to acquire some of the skills and ideas
about teaching so that I will exemplify the quality of an effective teacher which I could use in my teaching profession.
Engaging the teaching profession is the greatest thing for the preparation of my future. My classroom management style
I have many positive experiences to share. I would like to start satisfactory getting the students attention such as “call
their names with my modulated voice if they can hear me. It is a good thing for me I’ve a modulated voice since I have
numerous students so I made it louder. I learned how better my classroom and make my students comfortable. Teaching
is difficult. You’re going to have rough days, and you’re going to need help sometimes.
As I talked to other teachers about lessons that I was working on, they had plenty of suggestions for activities that I
could use. I loved getting ideas for tried and true activities for my students, but I also enjoyed the tips that they could
provide to help me grow as a teacher. They could also help you land a teaching job, too. Student teaching was a great
experience.

students can understand. In the 1st day I group my students into 4 groups then I give them an envelope inside the

problem is I have one student did not participate the activity but I’ll try to approach with him he said that his not

Learning Insight
When I first though about student teaching. I went through many emotions. It started with excitement because that
meant I was that much closer to graduating. I had so many questions running through my mind. What will my teachers
be like? Will the faculty be supportive? With all these questions, I started to feel intimidated by what was soon to come.
I was worried that my teachers and I would not get along. I was terrified that my students would not understand me.
