It was four o’clock in the afternoon one Friday. The sun was shining and it was a warm afternoon.
Charlie was walking home from school. He was very happy because it was Friday and the
weekend was starting. He was walking quite slowly because he was tired after a week at school.
He went through the park and then across a busy road. He was walking along the river bank
when, suddenly, he saw a green bag on the ground. He picked it up and looked inside. There
were some papers in the bag, a mobile phone and a wallet with a lot of money inside. Charlie
didn’t know what to do. He looked in his pockets and found his mobile phone. He phoned his
father.

‘Dad’, said Charlie. ‘I was walking home from school when I found a bag. There’s some money in
the bag. What should I do?’

Charlie’s father was very surprised. ‘Quickly take it to the police station,’ he said. ‘Tell the police
you found the bag by the river’.

Charlie took the bag and started walking towards the police station. The police station was on the
busy road near the park. He went inside. A policewoman was talking to a man.

‘I lost my bag this morning,’ the man said to the policewoman. ‘I lost it somewhere near the river.
There were some very important papers inside and a mobile phone and a wallet’.

‘Excuse me,’ said Charlie. ‘I think this is your bag. I found it just now while I was walking along the
river bank’. The man was very happy. He opened the wallet and gave Charlie 50 pounds for
finding his bag.
