2-Year Path (Concept Year, Summer X-Term, Thesis Year)
The MDP selects applicants for the 2-year Path who are high level communication designers with exceptional training
and experience working in 2-, 3-, or 4-dimensions. A degree in design is preferred but not required. The condensed
2-year path is ideal for the experienced maker who wishes to expand their thinking and explore new practices within
media design.
3-Year Path (includes Development Year)
Open to all applicants–including experienced designers–the 3-year Path offers the deepest engagement with the pro-
gram. The Development Year allows students to work with Art Center’s world-renowned programs and facilities while
supplementing their education with additional MDP classes.
The review committee will take into consideration the application materials and stated degree path preference for each accepted
applicant to determine placement within the program.

Media Design Matters Track — Feb. 1, 2011 admissions cycle only
The Media Design Matters (MDM) Track officially begins Summer Term 2012.
For the Feb. 1, 2011 admissions cycle we will only be accepting MDM Track students into the 3-Year
Path. Those who are interested in the 2-Year MDM Track should apply in the Fall of 2011.
