Welcome to the EHS Theatre Department
Scott Wright is heading into his 12th year as part of the Performing Arts Department at EHS.
He is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado Theatre and Dance Program where
he ultimately received his BA in Theatre Education. Prior to EHS, he spent the past 20 plus
years crossing the country as a dancer, actor, singer, and choreographer/director in regional
theater productions, summer stocks, dinner theater productions, and the cruise line industry.
Scott has received regional acclaim and honors for his work as a director and choreographer
in many award winning Colorado productions: Altar Boyz (2007 Denver Post Ovation
Nomination Best Choreography), Cats (Director/Choreographer - 2008 Denver Post Ovation
Nomination Best Revival of a Musical), My Fair Lady (2010 Denver Post Ovation Nomination
Best Choreography), FOREVER PLAID (2009 Best Director Nomination Greeley Tribune),
SWING (2008 Best Choreography Award Greeley Tribune), Oliver (2010 Best Choreographer
Award Greeley Tribune), and Cats (2004 Denver Post Ovation Winner Best Choreography).
Scott has appeared as a guest director and choreographer with Little Theatre of the Rockies,
Colorado State University Department of Theater and Dance, Carousel Dinner Theater, Candlelight Dinner Playhouse, The Denver Vic,
Cabaret Dinner Theater, Union Colony Dinner Theatre, Fort Collins Children's Theatre, and as a choreographer for PGT Entertainment -a
leading producer of musical reviews and theatrical entertainment for the cruise line industry. Favorite onstage roles include: Hello Dolly
(Barnaby Tucker), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Hysterium), You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (Linus), Cats
(Skimbleshanks), and one of his all time favorites, Clue the Musical (Mrs. White). Scott was part of the School of Theatre Arts And Dance
Faculty at the University of Northern Colorado for three years teaching the senior level one-act directing class. In addition to his faculty
responsibilities, he received his Masters degree in Theatre Education in 2016.

EHS Theatre Department Intro Classes
Stage
Drama 2 - No prior experience is needed to enroll in Tech
Improv our Drama 1 - Beg Acting, Drama 2 - Improv,
Production Theatre, Small Ensembles,
Theatre Basics, and Stage Tech classes.

These classes are open to all incoming


freshmen as well as current students in
Drama 1 -
9th-12th grade. Beginning
Theatre Basics is an exploratory class where Acting
students will learn about Musical Theatre.
Mr. Wright will bring his almost 20 years of Small
professional theatre work to the class Ensembles
sharing his stories, his approach to
Production directing/choreography, and general ways to
Theatre - be successful in musical theatre. A GREAT

Acting & class for those interested in ever auditioning
for our main stage musicals at EHS. Basics
Directing
for Film REQUIRED if you are planning on auditioning
for the spring musical.
EHS Theatre Department Advanced Level Classes

Advanced Requested Prerequisite for Advanced Drama


Drama is Drama 1. Drama 1 will give you a
foundation for theatre at EHS. Those who
are approved to go directly into Adv. Drama Drama 1 -
do struggle for a month or so until they Beginning

individually catch up to the rest of the class. Stage
Acting
Tech
Those students who have taken beginning
stage tech are able to continue their stage
tech exploration by signing up for beginning
stage tech again but will have alternate
assignments throughout the semester.
EHS Theatre Department Auditioned Classes
Music & Drama and Musical Theatre are our
two auditioned theatre classes at EHS.

M & D is a year long class geared to those


students potentially heading into the
performing arts. Performers will work on
audition repertoire and tech students will
develop their portfolios. The second
semester culminates with a full scale main HTML,
stage production for EHS Theatre.
Music & CSS,JS
Drama MT is a required class for those who are cast
in our spring musical. If you are planning on
auditioning for the spring musical you need
to register for the theatre basics class. Musical
Theatre
Unlike other classes at Erie High School, ALL classes in the EHS Theatre Department are built so
an individual could (if wanted to) take every semester it is offered. Each semester you repeat a
class, you gain NEW insight into the craft, continuing to build upon what you learned the previous
semester. All script studies, productions, etc DO NOT repeat so each semester is a NEW class.
Take a class as many times as you would like to.
It is possible to take drama classes at the same time you are taking choir
and/or band and orchestra classes.
