The first thing I noticed about the avocado video was how Ms. Keesha was explaining
everything that was happening to the children. She starts to encourage Andrew and tells him he
almost has it. Everything that the children did, Ms. Keesha was right there talking them through
every move. For example, Mia got ahold of Andrews avocado and she says it out loud for
everyone to see what happened. This helps the child to better understand what is happening with
the avocados. Ms. Keesha is guiding the children to share and play with others instead of
snatching the avocado from someone else. She is also guiding the children to roll the avocado
and she explains that what they are doing is called rolling. Keesha explains that the avocado is
different from the inside being green and the outside being black. She demonstrates that in the
video. Guiding principles uses social, cognitive and emotional skills. Environment and materials
are being used by Keesha giving the child a spoon in order to scoop the avocado up. This teaches
children how to use their fine motor skills by using manipulations such as a spoon to use for the
avocado. I believe that Keesha put the children close together in order to show the children they
each have their own avocados and there’s no need to take from another child. Keesha is always
talking with the children at the table. She tells them about the avocado and how it’s round and
you could roll it. She asked Mia how the avocado tastes and how good it smells. The interaction
that she is displaying with the children is helping them understand what an avocado is and feels
like. She also mentions how slippery and smooth it is and proceeds to let the child feel the
avocado themselves. I believe this video showed a lot of how children should be taught, even at a
young age. Though children may not understand completely, allowing them to learn what an
avocado tastes, smells, and feels like will allow them to better understand in the future. Every

language skills. In both videos, it shows both teachers continuing to talk with children and
explaining to the child what is going in. There’s a scene in the video where an older man is
reading a story to a little boy and they are reading a story about boats. The man is making boat
noises and the child mimics the noises he makes. This teaches the child about the noises a boat
makes and with them continuing to read the book, the child will start to remember that specific
