Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Program:

Role – Graduate Engineer Trainee

Candidate Profile –

 BE/ B Tech from recognized engineering institutions (2019 & 2020)


 Consistent strong academics (10th, 12th, Graduation)
 Good communication skills
 Strong analytical skills
 Applied thinking
 High energy and drive

Experience – 0 to 1 year

Program Outline:

 After on-boarding, Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs) are taken through a structured classroom
training on the requisite technical and behavioral skills for first two months of their tenure
 Post the formal training completion, GETs are placed in service lines within the Technology Shared
Services organization, where they start undergoing on the job training before subsequently getting
absorbed in live project roles
 Project allocation is done primarily based on the business requirements (which also drive the type of
technology training provided), and individual trainees’ aptitude as well as performance during formal
training
 Broadly speaking, the roles that GETs get to play on live projects could be in any of the following
areas – Application Operations, Application Development, Testing, Infrastructure Management,
Security Operations, etc.
 At the end of one year completion, based on anniversary performance review, GETs are confirmed as
Sr. Executive (I band) in the organization

Depending upon the nature of roles to which GETs are allocated, following are the indicative
responsibilities:

Application Operations:

 Monitoring processes, raising incidents


 First time resolution of tickets as per standard operating procedure (SOP)
 Troubleshooting & resolving incidents, creating problem trouble tickets assigned as per agreed
SOPs
 Service request fulfillment
 Creating and maintaining knowledge articles like SOP’s, KEDB, etc
 Handling simple to complex operational tasks over a period of time (like release and
deployment activities, project support, problem management, etc.)
 System health checks and initiating pro-active preventive actions
 Using ITIL processes for day 2 day operations
 Identifying opportunities for automation / process improvement / service improvement
 Writing simple to complex unix scripts, db scripts, etc for day to day operations over a period of
time
 Cross skilling / up skilling of technical skills to support multiple technologies / applications
 Develop strong understanding of telecom domain over a period of time

C2 General
Application Development:

 Requirement analysis
 New development, maintenance, customization and unit testing with provided framework and
tools – within timelines and adhering to expected quality standards
 Adherence to Technical constraints and coding standards laid out by architecture design
 Work in Agile project teams, be part of industry favorite DevOps model
 Keeps up-to-date with industry developments, ensuring that best practice is adopted and seeks
to increase efficiency and effectiveness
 Support test teams (integration and UAT) for defect fixes

Testing:

 Understand requirements, prepare test cases and  conduct test execution


 Understand test strategy, test plan and contribute in executing the test strategy, plan
 Create traceability matrix between requirements and testing artefacts and ensure optimum test
coverage
 Support in preparing test data
 Identify,  log defects and retest the defects
 Support in peer reviews

Infrastructure Management

 Monitoring , Administration , Troubleshooting of critical underlying IT Infrastructure such as


servers, Storage, Database
 Configuration, Fine-tuning of IT systems
 Coordinate and implement Changes in the technology environment including Datacenters
 Performing Backup and Restoration of critical data in complex environment
 Schedule and monitor Services / Jobs

Security Management:

 Security Incident & Event Management


 Investigation of Security Incident
 Threat & Vulnerability management
 Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
 Customer Troubleshooting Conference Calls
 On Call Support (High Severity Incidents)
 Preventive Audits
