Basic Radio Orientation: Steps Needed for VFO and Memory Usage and Repeater Operation
3 Bands 6-2-440 Menu FW + BAND Memories 220 Wide Receive .5 – 16; 48 - 999
Power 5 watts Lock FW + TX-PO Rev Shift HM/RV Dual Receive N/A
1. On/Off Dedicated button front, upper (toggle: on/off)
2. Shift Key FW use with another key for an alternate function
3. Squelch Press MONI key (below PTT) to break squelch
Press FW key then 0-SQ/WX key to change value
Turn DIAL to raise or lower value 0 - 15
PTT to resume normal operation
4. VFO/Memory Toggle VFO button at lower right for VFO-a or VFO-b
Toggle MR button for Memory Recall MR or Memory
Tune (MT)
5. Frequency Touch VFO key to go to VFO mode (a or b)
Navigation Press BAND to go up, one band per press
Input desired frequency via key pad
Be sure to zero fill first three for LF
Radio will often complete last digit for UHF
Rotate DIAL to change frequency
Press FW and rotate DIAL to change by mHz.
6. Menu Access Press FW then BAND–SET/AR button just below
Rotate DIAL to select Menu #
Press BAND–SET/AR to enter menu choice
Rotate DIAL to desired setting
PTT to confirm and resume normal operation
7. Enable CTCSS / DCS a. FW then 1-TN/FRQ for Menu 29, SQL Type a. FW then 2-CD/TAG for Menu 30, Tone Set
And Select Tone b. Rotate Dial to desired setting, example: Tone b. Rotate Dial to desired setting, example: 77
c. Press PTT to confirm c. Press 2-CD/TAG to accept and exit
8. Repeater Shift and Yes; Menu #6 to turn on/off. Menu #7 to override;
Offset Direction Go to Menu #8 to set shift amount
9. Operating Mode Automatic selects NFM, or WFM or AM on listening frequencies
10. Memory Storage Press + Hold FW key;
Rotate dial to desired memory location number
Press FW key again to lock in memory
11. Memory Labels a. Press FW then BAND–SET/AR button e. Press BAND again to next space; repeat
b. Rotate DIAL to select Menu #03 Name Set f. Press PTT to accept and exit

Press and hold 2-CD/TAG to toggle label on or off.
d. Rotate DIAL for desired alpha/numeric
12. Memory Navigation Press MR-SKP/SC to enter Memory mode (Display = MR)
Rotate DIAL to memory location or enter memory number and press MR
Press MR-SKP/SC again to enter Memory Turn mode (Display = MT)
Rotate DIAL to desired frequency or use key pad to enter frequency
14. Keyboard Lock Press FW then BAND–SET/AR button and Rotate to Menu #37
Press BAND–SET/AR to enter LOCK menu; Rotate to desired setting, example KEY+DIAL
Hold FW then TX-PO-Lock key; Toggles on/off; Display show “L” when LOCK is active
15. Reverse Input Toggle the HM/RV key to listen to the input frequency of a repeater
16. Power Setting Press the TX-PO/LOCK button once for each setting change: LI =.3W, LIII = 2.5W, None = 5W
1. Toggle VFO button at lower right to go to VFO mode VFOa or VFOb (see #4 above)
Programming for a 2. Select repeater output frequency (see Frequency Navigation #5 above)
Repeater 3. Repeater offset (shift) is set automatically. To change default, go to menu #6. (See #8 above)

L: Key Lock is ON; F: Alternate Frequency Bell: Bell alarm is enabled
Functions Active; S: Set, W, Memory Write Phone: Auto-dialer Active; Toggle FW + 3-DT/VLT
Negative (-), Positive (+): Repeater offset to turn off/on; note DTMF off when active
Important LCD Display T: CTCSS Encoder is active S: Battery saver is enabled
Icons SQ: CTCSS Decoder is active Battery: bars inside Image of battery denote
Clock: Auto power off is enabled battery life. No bars means depleted.
