Principal Responsibilities

Key Result #1: Take a lead in Managing FH Ethiopia Climate Resilience Program

Assosa and Bambasi districts of Benishangul Gumuz Regional State and elsewhere in the future.

2.    Provide technical support to the country office NHP Program strategy development.

3.    Work closely with the NHP director to implement and review the department strategy in order to ensure its
contribution and adherence to country & global strategies.

4.    Liaise with global & regional office climate advisors and donors (MCC, Packard Foundation, CFGB/GAC, and o
as required to develop and expand the program scope and resources. 

5.    Keep updated on potential emergency and long term Climate Resilience funding opportunities.

Key Result #2: Program Management (study, designing, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and funding)  

1.    The position holder is the contact person for MCC and Packard funded CA project in Benshangul region with
responsibilities of project management.

2.    Lead in writing up of CR proposals and concept notes (for on-going and new projects) in accordance with FH
donor standards and principles, ensure that cross cutting issues such as accountably, gender, conflict sensitivity
environment are considered in planning, implementation and monitoring of projects.

3.    Facilitate project agreements, and fund transfer processes as per FH and donors’ procedure.

4.    Develop a grant management plan (work plan, spending plan, and targets) soon after grants are approved; a
review burn rates on a regular basis.

5.    Based on the approved project documents, guide project staff in the preparation of activity, procurement, a
budget operation plan within the first month of the fiscal year and make revision as needed so that accomplishm
be tracked on monthly basis;

6.    Work closely with the finance, HR, M&E, Communication Manager, Knowledge & Learning Advisor and other
and department staff to ensure proper financial and grants management of the program.

7.    Prepare and compile periodic reports to be submitted to donors and government as per the recommended
to notify project progress and impacts to all concerned bodies. 

Key Result #3: Networking, Coordination and Projects Management 

1.    Proactively represent FHE in MCC CA project partners, climate coordination & taskforce forums.

2.    Ensure coordination, integration and programmatic linkages with other programs of FHE Ethiopia at program
design, monitoring and implementation stage.

3.    Coordinate with HR, logistics, procurement, IT, finance to facilitate effective and efficient support of ongoing
new projects.

4.    Provide organizational support for better coordination and liaising with local authorities and other agencies

5.    Ensure project offices are actively engaged in local level fora, and proactive to cooperate with local level gov
and civil society actors, for better coordination, experience sharing and visibility.

6.    Identify and assess capacity needs of project office staff, and build their capacity.

Key Result #4 Staff and Resource management 

1.    Gives overall guidance, manages and coaches to project manager and subordinate staff;

2.    Ensures that performance evaluation forms for all employees are completed and submitted to the  FHE Hea
timely;

3.    Ensure that project vehicles, motor bikes, cycles and other organizational properties are properly managed
vehicles and resource management guideline of FHE;

4.    Ensures that human, financial and other materials are adequately available and properly utilized;

Safety & Security Responsibility

⮚       Ensures that safety and security costs are included in all program budgets.  These include, but not limited
training on safety and security, site enhancements for safety and security, human resources (security officers),
purchase/ maintenance of basic safety and security resources & tools and budgets for safety and security asses

⮚       Communicating with staffs in Field Offices and operational areas periodically and making sure that all staf
members are aware of the safety and security procedures;

⮚       Facilitating implementation and revision of Country Office procedures when required.  This includes ident
potentially risky situations and suggesting corrective measures; Encourages compliance of Safety and Security p
and policies of the organization by all staffs;

⮚       Takes the leadership in the management of Safety and Security in the Head Office and Projects.  This inclu
identifying factors that increase risk, finding ways to reduce risk and planning ahead;

Ensuring that all employees, local/foreign interns, as well as external consultants submit an updated Record of
Emergency Data to their travels out of their base stations to accomplish FHE’s mission.
