BSED3: Mathematics

1. What is a theory? Explain your answer.

● The term "theory" is frequently used in ordinary speech to refer to an untested hunch
or a hypothesis without supporting proof. A theory, on the other hand, has nearly the
opposite meaning for scientists. A theory is a well-supported explanation of a natural
phenomenon that can include laws, hypotheses, and facts.

2. What is the first concept about the human mind?

● Thought, perception, emotion, volition, memory, and imagination are all
manifestations of human consciousness, which starts in the brain. The conscious and
unconscious processes that direct and impact mental and physical activity in a sentient
being.

3. How does the theory of learning relate to mental discipline of man?

● Theory of learning relate to mental discipline of man in the sense that the mind
inherently contains all attributes or faculties and that the primary task of education is
to bring exercise of acquiring knowledge.

4. Explain the S-R Bond Theory of Learning?

● This theory of learning refers to the idea that behavior emerges through the interaction
between stimuli and response. To put it another way, conduct can't exist without some
kind of stimulation, at least from this perspective.

5. What is functionalism as a theory of learning and its view/assumption of learning?

● Functionalism assumes that behaviour and mental processes are adaptive. This means
students or an individual adjust to a learning pattern to maintain balance.

6. Explain the Gestalt Theory of learning and give an example.

● Gestalt theory of learning states that every stimulus in learning is perceived by
humans in its simplest form . For example, when someone is looking at a dog, is he
just staring at the dog or does he see the legs, the head and the tail.

7. What is transfer of learning?

● Transfer of learning is the process of applying acquired knowledge to new situations.
For example, an Education student applies what they learned through practice
teaching.

8. Do you agree that learning under the control of providing reward to the learner is always
good theory of learning? Explain your answer.
● Yes, because it motivates the child or student more but there should always be a
punishment to balance their learning behavior.
9. What is motivation? Can you give an illustrative example?
● The general desire or willingness to do things, for example a poor student is driven by
its lifestyle, that's why he/she is studying hard to finish his/her course.

10. What is operant conditioning as a process of learning?

● Is a method of learning that rewards and punishment for behavior, Like giving
incentives or deducting grades
