Chap 3 PPT Content

The study will use a descriptive correlational research design and quantitative questionnaire to determine the relationship between stress prevalence factors and academic performance of students. The population is students from Bulacan State University in the years 2022. The sample will be selected through random sampling of social studies majors from year 1 to 4. Data will be collected through an online questionnaire containing demographic questions, stress factors, and a perceived stress scale. Data will be analyzed using weighted means, Pearson correlation, tables, and Likert scales.

CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY OF THE STUDY

Research Design
 The descriptive correlational method of research will be employed to determine
the relationship between the variables.
 The researchers will use the quantitative approach and a questionnaire in terms
of collecting data from the respondents.

Population and Sample of the Study

 The population of the study is composed of students in the School Community of
Bulacan State University Year 2022
 The participants will be selected through random sampling
 Respondents from 1st year to 4th year Social Studies major students in College
of Education at Bulacan State University City of Malolos, Bulacan

Research Instruments

 The questionnaire that will be used in the study is designed to determine which
prevalence factors of stress affect students' academic performance. The
questionnaire consists of three parts:
Part I - information on the demographic details of the respondents.
Part II - the Stress factor questionnaire will be used to determine the common
factors of stress of the respondents.
Part III - the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) originally developed in 1983 used by
Womble (n.d.) will be adopted in this study.

Data Gathering Procedure

The following procedures will used by the researchers in order to collect and gather
data needed for the study:
1. The letter of permission will be sought for the approval of Dean of the College of
Education to conduct the study.
2. On the scheduled date, the researchers will check the number of respondents from
1st year to 4th year Social Studies major students.
3. The questionnaire will be distributed through online since face-to-face class is not yet
allowed.
4. Before the respondents will answer the questionnaire, the researchers will explain the
directions clearly and elaborate some terms that need to be clarify. Also, the proper
explanation of the purpose of the study will explain to the respondents.
5. Instruments will be checked for the tabulation, analysis and interpretation of data to
answer the problems raised in the first chapter of the study.
6. Presentation of the finding follows.

Data Processing and Statistical Treatment of Data

The researchers will use the following statistical treatment to process the data:

 Weighted mean refers to the set of data taken from the average of the population
(Broto, 2006)
 Pearson-r coefficient of correlation to measure the correlation between the
factors of stress and academic performance by analyzing the degree of extent
 The tables to visually show the results of the questionnaires
 Likert scale to indicate the scale of the respondents on the level of agreement in
the common factors stress
