What’s the difference between
first conditional and second conditional?

● We use first conditional sentences to talk about a possible future situation


and its consequence.
○ possible / likely to happen = more than 50% sure that it is true.

● If + simple present, will / won’t + base form = first conditional

● if + simple past and would / wouldn’t + base form = second conditional

● When you report a question, the tenses change as in reported statements.
● When a question doesn’t begin with a question word, add if (or whether).
● You also have to change the word order to subject + verb, and do not use
do / did.
