What I Need to Know

In most stories that you read, the writer seeks to convince his
reader to be part of it. When you read a story, you soon find out
that the character in the story has a problem. Something has
happened that needs to be fixed. At the end of the story, you are
to provide a solution to the problem as a reader. For example, the
story's problem is when Ana needs to use a pencil, and she
accidentally lost it. What is the solution to the problem? Yes, Ana
can buy a new pencil, or she can borrow a pencil from her friend.
In this module, you are expected to:
a. answer the wh-question based on a story heard; and
b. tell the possible solution to the problem given.

Finding the solution in a story can help you be a better reader.
Good readers know the problem and the solution to a story.
A problem is a challenge that the characters solve at

To help you better understand the story, you should also know
how to identify and answer the Wh-questions. Let us take a look at
the table below.

What Is It
Problem and solution must fit together like a puzzle. A solution
answers the question, "What can we do about it?" As a reader, we
need to figure out a clever way for the character to solve the
problem in the story. We can somehow relate the problems
encountered in the story to our real-life situation. From here, we can
give more accurate solutions to it.

THE WAY WITH MEASLES

But when mother was busy in the kitchen, Jane's brother and
