ACTIVITY 2
CONTEMPLATE: Reflect on the following questions: Not less than 50 words in every question.
1. Reflect an LGBT character you have seen in national television.
- In many forms of popular entertainment, gay men are portrayed stereotypically as
promiscuous, flashy, flamboyant, and bold, while the reverse is often true of how lesbians
are portrayed. Media representations of bisexual and transgender people tend to either
completely erase them, or depict them as morally corrupt or mentally unstable. Similar to
race-, religion-, and class-based caricatures, these stereotypical stock character
representations vilify or make light of marginalized and misunderstood groups.
2. What were stereotypes portrayed by these characters?
- Gay and lesbian families are commonly misrepresented in media because society
frequently equates sexual orientation with the ability to reproduce. As well, gay and lesbian
characters are rarely the main character in movies; they frequently play the role of
stereotyped supporting characters or are portrayed as a victim or villain.
3. How can media present the LGBT in a better way?
- Media can present LGBT in a better way by letting them have their own show, allow them
to express themselves in any way possible and movies about LGBT to deepen the
knowledge about them because everyone is not the same. Some people tend to think
negatively just by knowing they are part of it and I think, it will help people to open up their
mind.
4. Is media being an effective way to influence people towards gender equity?
- Social media has proved to be a powerful vehicle for bringing women's rights issues to the
attention of a wider public, galvanising action on the streets of cities around the world and
encouraging policy makers to step up commitments to gender equality.

ACTIVITY 3
CONTEMPLATE: Reflect on the following questions: Not less than 50 words in every question.
1. Think about the terms “cry like a girl” and “iyakin, parang bakla”.
- I personally think that this is toxic masculinity, guys can cry to when they can't handle it
anymore. Being able to express yourself is not femininity, everyone's feeling are valid. In
todays world, it's really hard to cope up. You will get to the point that you'll have multiple
break down and it's okay because after all we all are just human being. Crying is for
everyone to relieve stress
2. Why would crying like a girl make a man weaker?
- It's because that's how society sees it, when guys are crying they tend to think they are
weak. guys learned what emotions are and how to express loss is being taught that crying
is not for boys.
3. Why would a boy crying be equated to being “bakla”?
- People are so use to see men in masculinity to the point that crying makes them gay,
society is taught and believe that men's are built to be tough and superior. we rarely see
them cry and express themselves because it would hurt their ego.
4. Can you give examples of heteronormativity?
- "You Don’t Have To Justify Your Identity Or The Legitimacy Of Your Orientation," no one is
going to insist that heterosexuality is just a phase. You won’t be asked to prove your
straightness by rattling off your romantic or sexual history or trace it back to a particular
moment in your childhood. You won’t be told to pick a side.
5. Do you think it is important for the youth to continuously engage in nation-building
and making reforms or changes in how things are done in our country right now? Why do
you think so?
- Yes, engaging youth as nation builders can be a key strategy whether a nation is brand-
new or hundreds or thousands of years old. Children and youth can participate in creating,
teaching, sharing and promoting flags, anthems, national days, national stadiums, national
airlines, national languages, and national myths. Young people can also be essential in
bringing different groups into a nation, whether tribes, ethnicities or races. This can all
change the world in positive ways, and young people can be essential to every part of it.
