ePMP/PTP550/E Release 4.5 Information
Introduction
This document provides information about the newly added features, additional enhancements,
bug fixes, and known issues in system release 4.5.
Features Description
The features introduced in System Release 4.5 are as follows:
Dynamic Channel Selection
The Dynamic Channel Selection feature monitors channel traffic and noise levels for interference. If
the current channel(s) quality degrades, DCS automatically switches to the better-quality channel.
This feature is supported in PTP 550/E devices.
Automatic Channel Selection
The Advanced Channel Selection feature automatically selects the best available channel based on
noise floor. This is good for isolated sectors, Omnis, or isolated PTP links.
Support for Dual-Horn, Omnidirectional, and Split-Sector Antennas
This release now supports Dual-Horn and Omnidirectional, and Split-sector Antennas with non-
overlapping sectors.
Smart Antenna support for ePMP 3000
The ePMP 3000 now supports Smart beamforming technology. This powerful addition to your
network creates narrow, targeted beams to each subscriber, rather than relying on a traditional wide
beam, blocking out multiple sources of interference to keep performance high.
Support for Reliable Multicast feature
The Reliable Multicast feature allows ePMP APs to support IGMP capable devices. Once a multicast
group is identified, the AP allows multicast traffic to be sent only to the SMs within the multicast
group.
Support for ePMP MP3000 MicroPOP
This release supports the ePMP MP3000 MicroPop Access Point.
PPPoE Intermediate Agent
The PPPoE Intermediate Agent mechanism helps the service provider to distinguish between the end
hosts connected via Ethernet as an access device (typically, home routers situated below an ePMP
subscriber device).
