SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
• When lifting parts or assemblies, make sure all slings, chains, or cables are correctly fastened, and
that the load being lifted is balanced. Make sure the crane, cables, and chains have the capacity to
support the weight of the load.

• Do not lift heavy parts by hand, use a lifting mechanism.

• Wear safety glasses.

• DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CONNECTOR before doing any maintenance or repair on electric lift
trucks. Disconnect the battery ground cable on internal combustion lift trucks.

• Always use correct blocks to prevent the unit from rolling or falling. See HOW TO PUT THE LIFT
TRUCK ON BLOCKS in the Operating Manual or the Periodic Maintenance section.

• Keep the unit clean and the working area clean and orderly.

• Use the correct tools for the job.

• Keep the tools clean and in good condition.

• Always use YALE APPROVED parts when making repairs. Replacement parts must meet or exceed
the specifications of the original equipment manufacturer.

• Make sure all nuts, bolts, snap rings, and other fastening devices are removed before using force to
remove parts.

• Always fasten a DO NOT OPERATE tag to the controls of the unit when making repairs, or if the unit
needs repairs.

• Be sure to follow the WARNING and CAUTION notes in the instructions.

• Gasoline, Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and Diesel fuel are
flammable. Be sure to follow the necessary safety precautions when handling these fuels and when
working on these fuel systems.

• Batteries generate flammable gas when they are being charged. Keep fire and sparks away from the
area. Make sure the area is well ventilated.

NOTE: The following symbols and words indicate safety information in this manual:

WARNING
Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or
serious injury.

CAUTION
Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in minor
or moderate injury and property damage.

On the lift truck, the WARNING symbol and word are on orange background.
The CAUTION symbol and word are on yellow background.

the lift truck when the high speed button is activated
with forks leading. Increasing the setting increases the
speed. Decreasing the setting reduces the speed. See
Figure 27.

High Speed (FWD)

This parameter sets the maximum forward speed of
the lift truck when the high speed button is activated
with forks trailing. Increasing the setting increases the
speed. Decreasing the setting reduces the speed. The
parameter value reflects the actual speed in MPH (a
value of 0038 is equal to 3.8 MPH). See Figure 26.

Minimum Acceleration
This parameter sets the acceleration rate when the dif-
ference between the actual speed and the requested
speed is very small. Setting this parameter significantly
lower than maximum acceleration will make it easier for
the operator to obtain an appropriate speed when ma-
neuvering the truck at slower speeds. See Figure 28.

Figure 29. Maximum Acceleration Screen

Plugging
This parameter controls the maximum rate of decelera-
tion when the speed control is fully moved to the oppo-
site direction from the direction of travel while the truck
is moving. Increasing the setting will increase the rate
of deceleration. Decreasing the setting will reduce the
Figure 28. Minimum Acceleration Screen rate of deceleration. See Figure 30.

Maximum Acceleration
This parameter sets the acceleration rate when the dif-
ference between the actual speed and the requested
speed is the maximum possible. Increasing this setting
increases the rate of acceleration when a large increase
in speed is requested. See Figure 29.

ADS-Neutral
This parameter controls the lift truck’s rate of decelera-
tion when the speed control is released and returns to
the neutral position. Increasing the value increases the
rate of deceleration. Decreasing the value reduces the
rate of deceleration. See Figure 31.

Figure 32. ADS-Throttle Screen

Pick Acceleration
This parameter controls the rate of acceleration when
the lift truck is in the PICK mode. Increasing the set-
ting will increase the rate of acceleration. Decreasing
the setting will reduce the rate of acceleration. See Fig-
Figure 31. Auto Decel (Run Mode) Neutral Screen ure 33.

ADS-Throttle
The ADS-Throttle parameter controls the maximum rate
of deceleration when the speed control is partially re-
leased, but is still commanding traction in the same di-
rection. Increasing the setting will increase the rate of
deceleration. Decreasing the setting will reduce the rate
of deceleration. See Figure 32.

Pick Deceleration
This parameter controls the rate of deceleration when
the pick switch or the throttle is released and the truck is
in the PICK mode. Increasing the setting will increase
the rate of deceleration. Decreasing the setting will re-
duce the rate of deceleration. See Figure 34.

Lift Interrupt
This is the battery voltage in volts at which the battery is
considered 80% discharged. When the battery is 80%
discharged, traction is allowed but lift functions are sus-
pended. Increasing the setting increases the voltage.

Battery Full
This is the battery voltage in volts at which the battery

creases the voltage. Decreasing the setting reduces
the voltage. See Figure 35.

Min Steer Assist FWD (Power Steering

Assist Only)
This parameter sets the minimum steer assist provided
by the steering motor when the lift truck is traveling at a
high rate of speed in the forward direction. Increasing
the parameter setting will increase the amount of assist.
Decreasing the setting will reduce the amount of assist.
See Figure 37.

A/V Alarm (Audible/Visual)

This menu will allow you to program the operation of the
motion alarm. The menu also has an Off setting which
will allow you to turn off the Motion Alarm feature. See
Figure 43. There are three modes of operation:
Forward Operation – the alarm will activate only
when the lift truck is traveling in the forward direc-
tion.
Reverse Operation – the alarm will activate only
when the lift truck is traveling in the reverse direc-
tion.
Continuous With Key ON – the alarm will activate any
time the lift truck key is in the ON position.
Select A/V Alarm parameter using the RH LOWER
[#4] switch and scroll through the choices using the
LH LOWER [#1] or LH LIFT [#2] switches. Select the
desired mode of operation and press the RH LIFT [#3]
