At the end of this lesson, you will be able to;

III. Lesson content:
Maintaining the functionality of our tools is a must to prolonged the life of our electrical
tools and equipment. In this lesson, we will Identify the procedures or tips in cleaning and
maintaining our tools and equipment.
Recommended Cleaning for Hand Tools
1. Clean dirt and debris from tools after each use
2. Oil metal parts to prevent rust
3. Lightly sand rough wooden handles and apply linseed oil
4. Repair loose handles
5. Sharpen blades of cutting tools
6. Store tools in a clean dry storage area
7. Protect surfaces of cutting tools in storage
Recommended Cleaning of Power Tools
1. Follow the maintenance schedule in the owner’s manual
2. Change the oil
3. Clean the air filter
4. Lubricate moving parts
5. Replace worn blades according to the owner’s manual
6. Replace spark plugs
7. Drain oil and gasoline before long-term storage
8. Check electric cords and connections on electric powered tools
Task Sheet 1.1 - Perform Maintenance in Tools

Materials needed:
1. Tools available in your home
2. Cleaning solvents
3. Rags
4. Washing pan
5. Electric fan
6. Safety
7. Apparel
Procedure:
1. Wear protective clothing such as gloves and masks (if available).
2. Gather the tools to be cleaned in the designated area for cleaning.
3. Classify the tools to be cleaned according to how dirty they are.
4. Measure and pour enough cleaning solvent to the washing Pan.
5. Submerge the tools in the washing pan.
6. Use a paint brush to remove the dirt from the tools.
7. Get the tools from the washing pan and wipe them with rags until dry.
8. Clean and keep all materials used for cleaning.

1. With the use of camera (phone), video tape yourself doing the procedures in maintaining
tools at home
2. Save you video and upload it in google classroom.\
3. Turn in and submit your work.
4. Notify your instructor if done.
For modular learners:
1. Do the following procedures.
2. Make a narration on how did you do the maintenance of tools at home
(Example:
1. I prepare the tools and the materials needed for maintaining tools at home
2. I wear protective devices before doing the job…)
3. Write it in a piece of paper and attach/staple it in the handouts
