Project Description
Bayawan City also called the “Agricultural Capital of Negros Oriental” is situated in the
South West of Negros Oriental. Bayawan is a coastal city, opening onto the Sulu Sea to the
South. It lies about 100 kilometers southwest of Dumaguete City, the provincial capital of the
Negros Oriental province. Sports programs and different tournaments are one of the major
projects pushed by our Mayor Pryde Henry Teves especially for the young ones and teenagers to
promote proper physical & mental health and unite the community through sportsmanship.
Participating in sports not only showcase the talents in the field of sports but also to inspire other
citizens to engage in different types of physical activities.
These sports programs and physical activities stopped because of the deadly virus that
spread not just in our country but also worldwide which killed massive numbers of people. This
virus became a hindrance in doing physical activities that has physical contact. Majority of the
sports and physical activities are done through physical contact and that is the reason why these
are prohibited in the midst of the pandemic. Strict safety protocols have to be done and everyone
should stay at home.
Nowadays, vaccines are already produced and majority of the people in Bayawan City
are already vaccinated which is good news not just in sports programs but in every aspect that
people do in their every day life. This will be a great opening in bringing back the missing piece
that the Bayawanons seeks.

This men’s volleyball open tournament is created with an intent to bring back the resting
talents that the bayawanons cannot showcase because of the pandemic. Showcasing the athletic
abilities of the people in the city that the athletes cannot express because of the ban in physical
contact activities and sports. Through reliving the sports programs, young ones and teenagers
will be able to divert their attention from esports games to physically healthy sports which is
needed for everyone’s health.
Furthermore, all the people in Bayawan City can be able to create their own team the
desired players with no age limit. This tournament will be an opening in encouraging other
people to comeback in physical activities sports programs which also promote healthy lifestyle,
uniting the people of Bayawan, and promoting sportsmanship.
This project will be engaging in actual sports which will be volleyball. Though it is still
in the midst of pandemic but by following proper covid-19 safety protocols in the venue from the
players, coaches, staff, to the audience. Everyone will required to strictly follow the safety
protocols.
