Network software - activation
In order to set up IDEA StatiCa Network license, we need first to install the licensing software NetKey License Server 4.0 EK and
activate the license on the server and second, set up working computers in the network and download the license files into them.
Requirements: Windows server 2012 and newer
1 Server
1.1 Network License Server installation
On the server, download and unzip the licensing software package - NetKeyTools.zip. Start installation by opening Netkey
License Server 4.0.exe(you need to have the administrator rights).
InstallShield Wizard is started and we follow the installation procedure.
After the installation, we choose to launch the program and click Finish.
NKLS Installer opens and we select the option Install and run NKLS as Service.
Open windows Services, where we check if the parameter of "NetKey40EK" is set as "Automatic".
1.2 License activation
We run the file Register.exe (run as administrator) from unzipped NetKeyTools package.
Optionally allow access to Private and Public networks in any additional security alert window that would open.
Copy your Network license activation key and click Activate.
We have activated the license and just confirm OK.
1.3 Firewall settings
Now we have to add an exception rule for the Windows firewall. Open Windows firewall and go to Advanced settings.
Select Inbound Rules and add a New Rule…
Select option Program and click Next.
Select option This program path: and click Browse.
Find and open the file NKLS40EK.exe in the installation folder of previously installed Netkey License Server (by default
C:\Program Files (x86)\NetKey40EK).
Click Next, select option Allow the connection and again Next.
Select all options (Domain, Private, Public) and click Next.
Type a name of the rule (e.g. IDEA StatiCa license) and click Finish.
The process of license activation on the server is completed. Now we continue on the working computers.
2 Working computers
On the working computers we first download and install the latest IDEA StatiCa setup. Please check that there is no firewall,
antivirus, Windows user settings or network settings blocking the communication between the working computer and the server
on which the license has been activated.
Start IDEA StatiCa and open the License manager.
Select the option Network key and fill in the server name or IP address:
License server host name – the DNS name of the server on which the Network License Server has been activated.
License server address – the IP address of the server on which the Network License Server has been activated.
Then we click on Download license file… button to get the license file.
The license file has been downloaded and saved in the computer and we just confirm OK.
We repeat this process on all the working computers.
We have finished the Network software license activation and can close the License manager by clicking OK and save the
settings.
