Daily Bread
These morsels of sacred bread have been gleaned from lavish feasts
served to the Temple of the People over many years.
It is hoped that the reader will find herein nourishment for body, mind
and spirit.

ASK EACH DAY
Thou who knowest that all life is ever ceaseless pulsing motion!
Thou who knowest that the sun must riser and set each day, and that
every heart is in perfect time and rhythm!
Thou who knowest that the food of yesterday will not sustain thy
body for the morrow’s toil!
Thinkest thou the cyclic law, immutable, will be repealed for thee,
in that each day will bring thee nourishment for soul, unasked for and
unsought by thee, or asked amiss?
Ah, No! A full supply of Christly bread awaits thine asking, but
thou must ask each day, and ask in faith, or suffer, in the Soul as now
thy body suffers from the lack of food when thou dost not provide..

FOREWORD
From The beginning to its end the manifestation of the Christ Life
in form (the Universal Soul) is a perpetual sacrifice, as is the life of all in
whom that principle is most active. It is born of its Mother-Love and
with her holds the scale of justice in the light of self-sacrifice.

LOVE
1. The Light of the Heart – Love- forges a Magic Key which opens the
Gates of all the Mysteries of Being, but Wisdom alone has power to use
that Key.
O.B. 2nd S., 1
2. The Heart is the real Center of life, light and love – God..
O.B. 1st S., 76
3. Being made in the image of God, each part and organ of man
expresses or represents some character or quality of God – or Primordial
Light, Life or Love.
O.B. 1st S., 67
5. Aspiration is true worship, the opening of the soul that the love of the
Infinite may flow in.
T.T. 1st S., 88
6. One never finds outside himself what is not within, and as long as
there is a wrong to be righted, a sufferer to be healed and comforted, a
child to be taught, or in wider terms, any string of the harp of brotherly
love to be attuned to the vibration of Universal Love, lying right at your
door, in the midst of your own family or your own social circle, your
individual duty is right there.
B.T. 67
7. Search for hidden causes in the hearts of people and things. Stand
on your own mental and soul feet and realize that no other can grow for
you, no other can live for you, no other can eat for you.
The Temple Light, W.H.D.

10. Power without Love engenders pride, and pride yet hurls to the
depths of hell the angel that would pit its puny strength against
Omnipotent Love.
T.T. 2nd S., 58
11. No human being, no angel, no god, can open your blinded eyes to
the glories of that heaven, the gate of which lies hidden in your own
heart, so long as a shred of unbelief, distrust, or doubt of the Love which
has created and which sustains the universe, holds you in bondage; for
just so long must you remain a wanderer on the outskirts of the White
City of your own Divinity.
T.T. 2nd S., 58
13. Love is the only medium through which our eyes may see clearly,
unmistakably.
T.T. 38

Theo. St. VI, Sl 2, Com.2

fields of sacrifice.
Greater Love, H

thine heart and leave behind full measure of the precious things which
lie within that ocean’s depths.

its temporary aspect.
T.T. I, 349
2. As the rose attracts, holds, and then gives forth its life in terms of
fragrance and beauty, so does the aroma of every true, unselfish act
ascend as sweet incense to the footstool of the Gods – to return with
added power as blessings for humanity.
M.T. I, 36
3. The Self of Spirit and the Self of Matter can never meet. It is the Law.
Know well which you would serve and obey the Call.
R.F. II

good of all.
T.T. I, 109
6. Through all the kingdoms of life, Divinity molds, shapes and guides
man’s destiny, and as life moves on from the lowest to the highest, cyclic
law provides a vehicle whereby form and substance are evolved and
through which the Law of Service can manifest.
Service, P.F.D.
7. True service springs from the heart – that inner desire to help one’s
fellow-man, and thus fulfill this law in myriad ways: to one’s country,

1. Would you see and know the Light? Would you find and hold the
Path? Then seek within.
R.F. 3, (8). Morya
2. To the pure heart, all things in heaven and earth are pure; and if
thine heart be pure, the cup of wine will overflow and turn to streams of
light while still within thy grasp, carrying life and healing on their waves
far down the distant centuries of time.
M.T. I , 42
3. Only when thou hast gained the guerdon of true humility canst thou
stand erect in safety – for then only hast thou power to don the Armor of
self protection – the Armor of Compassion.
M.T. I , 42
5. The Chela must rise or fall with his Master, and the first great reality
that dawns upon his awakening consciousness is recognition of his
kinship to – his oneness with – that Master; and having once recognized,
he cannot repudiate Him; his duty, his pleasure, his very life, is bound
up with that of the Master.
7. The first lesson as well as the last, the Alpha and Omega of
Occultism, is Selflessness; and exoteric Selfishness – its opposite – is the
fundamental cause of your non-attainment of power, and inability to
exercise such necessary qualifications of Selflessness as helpfulness and
sympathy, where your younger Brother’s development and interests are
concerned.
T.T. I, 57
8. Man cannot outstrip the laws of his being, and every effort at so doing
causes him to retrace his steps, and as it were, to stop and pick up those
stitches in his part of the web of life that he had inadvertently dropped.
T.T. I, 243

10. One of the basic laws of spirit as well as of matter decrees that like

this law.
T.T. I, 309
11. Universal Law cannot be broken or ignored without bringing
corresponding suffering upon the breaker of those Laws.
T.T.I, 299
13. Law and Love are synonymous terms; therefore in obedience, Love
fulfills all Law.
T.T. I, 75
14. God cannot be safely mocked or set at aught, for God is Love.
16. The highest power is only won by renunciation. Renounce with thy
whole heart – love with thy whole heart - work with thy whole heart, and
all things in heaven and earth are thine.
T.T. I, 52
17. Until man can learn to dwell with his brothers in peace and unity
upon earth, it is absolutely impossible for him to dwell with God in that
conscious at-one-ment which constitutes perfection.

21. The first effort of a true disciple should be directed to the task of
purifying and making of his human nature a perfect mirror, wherein may
be reflected the Divine Light of the triune God; and this process can only
be completed by one analogous to that of the making of a material
mirror.
T.T.II, 34
22. As the heart is the center of life in the man, it follows that the whole
man must be pure if the heart is pure.
T.T.II, 21
24. When a man is in universal sympathy with the world, he can enter
into the life and condition of every plant, animal and human creature
ascending and descending along the scale of being; he loses to a great
extent his feeling of personality, and begins to live in reality and to know
what true Liberty is.

26. There are sterile bits of bleak wilderness in almost all lives.
Sometimes we pass them in youth, sometimes later in life, but pass them
at one time or another we all must, and with parched lips and weary
limbs. But thanks be to God for the oasis on the other side of each
barren stretch, and for the waters of life that renew our strength for
another trial.
B.F. 34
27. “Man must make his Heaven, if he would dwell therein; and he can
only make it as he worketh day by day with Me, apart from all, yet one
with all.” Thus spoke the Christ.

M.T. I, 171
17. Nature does not work by tremendous jumps from one state of life to

manifestation by and through eternal Law that is unworthy the serious,
reverent consideration of the mind of man; and when it comes to the

He who would tell thee that the Christ doth speak to him in words
deceives himself and thee. By deeds of Love and Justice the Christ must

SEPTEMBER
TRUTH
1. Would you not climb the Heights and be partaker of their nobility and
grandeur, their power, might, and soothing balm: Unto the hills lift your
eyes, and there you shall find the Help for which you seek and crave. To
the Hills! To the Heights within Yourselves!
R.F. 25 (53)
3. Let thy heart sing! O my Soul. For it sings of God – and of Angel’s
wings.
Mt.T. II, 196
5. The Heart of God is the container of the Divine in all things and
creatures, and therefore of the Divine in thee.
Mt.T. I, 185
7. Love more, and the love ye bestow will break through the shadows, as
the sun breaks through the clouds, and its light will shine forever and a
day on the finished work of God – His own Diviner Self – God-made man
and man–made God in One.

12. The great ideals of the Gods of men, alone are eternal, all else is
change, all else is sacrificial; so “be not attached to the fruits of action.”
T.T. I, 347
14. The great plan of the Lodge for the development of the human race is
so superhumanly grand and perfect in its entirety as well as in its
minutiae, that it would be useless to attempt to make it intelligible to the
masses of the present age.
T.T. I, 65
16. Truly is the human heart the holiest of holy shrines, when once
unselfish, sacrificial Love hath entered it, and throned itself before the
Altar Stone therein – a shrine at which the proudest knee may well bow
low, the humblest soul prostrate itself when once the faintest recognition
of the great reality behind all earthly seeming dawns upon the
consciousness.

T.T. I, 305
19. Man has never accepted, will never accept the highest ideal of his
fellowman – the Brotherhood of Man – as worthy of his devotion, until
selfishness, poverty and suffering have driven him to it; at least to the
extent of acknowledging its worth and generously placing himself and his
substance at the service of the other, to aid in its materialization.
20. Reincarnation and Karma – hope and responsibility – are simply two

17. Until we are able to perceive the truth intuitively from a higher

NOVEMBER
HONESTY
The simple things, the simple words, the simple deeds of daily, hourly

4. The Winds of Life sweep at certain periodical intervals for the same

November-cont.
11. The action of Karmic Law in the affairs of nations and men, as in the
Cosmos, is of all things most interesting, though too often
incomprehensible to the average student. In the depths of every living
soul there resides a sense of abstract justice and a feeling of abhorrence
toward its opposite, or what is commonly termed injustice, due to the
operation of two poles of one inherent quality or state of substance which
manifests as wisdom.
T.T. I. 66
13. No Avatar, no great leader of His people ever came to earth with an
olive branch in His hand.
T.T. I, 267
14. That “Brotherhood” means literally all that is implied by the words,
“Do unto others as you would that they should do unto you,” is beyond
controversy, and no one of you is so situated as to be unable to keep this
Law; for it is a Universal Law and whoever violates it brings upon himself
or herself the karmic action of that Law.
T.T. I, 20
15. Like not only seeks, but it finds like.
T.T. I, 306
16. The Law of compensation is exact; what we sow, that we must also

T.T. I, 91
17. Man pays in full for every opportunity Life offers him – not a jot or
tittle less than the ultimate value of the opportunity.
T.T. I, 167
18. You must cleanse your own mind and make sure the reflections
cast upon it by Divine Love are not intercepted by shadows of your own
making, before you presume to judge your brother or sister, if so be you
would become a true reflector of the Deific vibrations.

Word made flesh on this plane of matter.
O.B. 2nd Series VIII
27. Do not look too far for the thing you are seeking most earnestly. You

28. The middle path is the path of the Christ, the path of reconstruction.
Standing firmly on this middle path, we have the power to draw on the
extremes and use them intelligently and wisely and not be used by them.
