DAILY BREAD

These morsels of sacred bread have been gleaned from lavish feasts
served to the Temple of the People over many years.

It is hoped that the reader will find herein nourishment for body, mind
and spirit.

1
ASK EACH DAY

Thou who knowest that all life is ever ceaseless pulsing motion!

Thou who knowest that the sun must riser and set each day, and that
every heart is in perfect time and rhythm!

Thou who knowest that the food of yesterday will not sustain thy
body for the morrow’s toil!

Thinkest thou the cyclic law, immutable, will be repealed for thee,
in that each day will bring thee nourishment for soul, unasked for and
unsought by thee, or asked amiss?

Ah, No! A full supply of Christly bread awaits thine asking, but
thou must ask each day, and ask in faith, or suffer, in the Soul as now
thy body suffers from the lack of food when thou dost not provide..

2
FOREWORD

From The beginning to its end the manifestation of the Christ Life
in form (the Universal Soul) is a perpetual sacrifice, as is the life of all in
whom that principle is most active. It is born of its Mother-Love and
with her holds the scale of justice in the light of self-sacrifice.

love to be attuned to the vibration of Universal Love, lying right at your
door, in the midst of your own family or your own social circle, your
individual duty is right there.
B.T. 67

Omnipotent Love.
T.T. 2nd S., 58

11. No human being, no angel, no god, can open your blinded eyes to
the glories of that heaven, the gate of which lies hidden in your own

just so long must you remain a wanderer on the outskirts of the White
City of your own Divinity.

MARCH

WISDOM

In the depths of every living soul there resides a sense of abstract

justice and a feeling of abhorrence toward its opposite, or what is
commonly termed injustice, due to the operation of two poles of one
inherent quality or state of substance which manifests as Wisdom.

13
March
Wisdom

1. Would you see and know the Light? Would you find and hold the
Path? Then seek within.
R.F. 3, (8). Morya

2. To the pure heart, all things in heaven and earth are pure; and if
thine heart be pure, the cup of wine will overflow and turn to streams of
light while still within thy grasp, carrying life and healing on their waves
far down the distant centuries of time.
M.T. I , 42

3. Only when thou hast gained the guerdon of true humility canst thou
stand erect in safety – for then only hast thou power to don the Armor of
self protection – the Armor of Compassion.
M.T. I , 42

4. Become one with the Law.

M.T. I , 17

5. The Chela must rise or fall with his Master, and the first great reality
that dawns upon his awakening consciousness is recognition of his
kinship to – his oneness with – that Master; and having once recognized,
he cannot repudiate Him; his duty, his pleasure, his very life, is bound
up with that of the Master.

6. Nature furnishes to each of her kingdoms a perfect form, and

correspondingly perfect principles of government. Only so far as man
has observed and followed that form, and embodied those principles in a
constitution, has been his measure of success in the creating of a
righteous government, whether of church or state.
T.T. I, 64

7. The first lesson as well as the last, the Alpha and Omega of
Occultism, is Selflessness; and exoteric Selfishness – its opposite – is the
fundamental cause of your non-attainment of power, and inability to
exercise such necessary qualifications of Selflessness as helpfulness and
sympathy, where your younger Brother’s development and interests are
concerned.
T.T. I, 57

8. Man cannot outstrip the laws of his being, and every effort at so doing
causes him to retrace his steps, and as it were, to stop and pick up those
stitches in his part of the web of life that he had inadvertently dropped.
T.T. I, 243

14
March-cont.

9. Humanity does not gain in power and knowledge by retreat, but by

advance.
T.T. I, 223

10. One of the basic laws of spirit as well as of matter decrees that like
shall seek like. The evolution of concrete form demands obedience to
this law.
T.T. I, 309
11. Universal Law cannot be broken or ignored without bringing
corresponding suffering upon the breaker of those Laws.
T.T.I, 299

12. Everything in manifestation has a heart, or corresponding center,

on an inner plane of the highest order. All heart centers of
Consciousness are in degree of awareness by all creatures with the
oneness with God.

incited by Spiritual entities.

whole heart – love with thy whole heart - work with thy whole heart, and
all things in heaven and earth are thine.
T.T. I, 52

17. Until man can learn to dwell with his brothers in peace and unity
upon earth, it is absolutely impossible for him to dwell with God in that
conscious at-one-ment which constitutes perfection.
T.T. I, 40

18. The sun shines on everyone, everywhere. Man is shaded by his own
acts.
To Tell the Truth, H.E.F.

15

process.

your actions in previous lifetimes, depending on whether or not you have

Karma, H.E.F.

21. The first effort of a true disciple should be directed to the task of
purifying and making of his human nature a perfect mirror, wherein may
be reflected the Divine Light of the triune God; and this process can only
be completed by one analogous to that of the making of a material
mirror.
T.T.II, 34

22. As the heart is the center of life in the man, it follows that the whole
man must be pure if the heart is pure.
T.T.II, 21

23. Therefore to know, to understand, to attain to knowledge of our

innate Divinity; to walk and to be identified with the Masters of Life; and
finally, to become one with the Father in Heaven, the One on the Throne,
and to be able, individually, to break the seals of the Book of Life – and to
understand – we must follow the Law of Sacrifice.
O.B. 2.5. VI

24. When a man is in universal sympathy with the world, he can enter
into the life and condition of every plant, animal and human creature
ascending and descending along the scale of being; he loses to a great
extent his feeling of personality, and begins to live in reality and to know
what true Liberty is.
T.T. II, 8

25. The hand of the Creator is upon us; the loose strings of our human
nature are being stretched and tuned.
B.F. 37

16
March-cont.

26. There are sterile bits of bleak wilderness in almost all lives.
Sometimes we pass them in youth, sometimes later in life, but pass them
at one time or another we all must, and with parched lips and weary
limbs. But thanks be to God for the oasis on the other side of each
barren stretch, and for the waters of life that renew our strength for
another trial.
B.F. 34

27. “Man must make his Heaven, if he would dwell therein; and he can
only make it as he worketh day by day with Me, apart from all, yet one
with all.” Thus spoke the Christ.

compelling its own obedience in Law.
H.E.F.

29. A grateful Soul unconsciously vibrates the higher forces and brings
into action the laws that fulfill his unselfish desires in whatever line of
constructive endeavor he may function.
T.A. A-J 1974, P.F.D.

30. Each day brings you its simplest duties. Do not forfeit them.
Masters Message, 1979

31. The Law of Brotherhood is the Law of evolution. We can only choose
whether we want to obey it or disobey it.
Artisan 1979, “Kingdom of Energy.” H.E.F.

Splendors of the Sunrise of Conscious Union with the Universal Christ of
Light and Peace.
R.F. 4 (20)

2. Find the “Place of Peace,” and friends and enemies alike will be but
added blessings, for both will speak to thee of God – the one of Love, the
other of Forgiveness.
M.T. I, 87

3. The mind of God is mirrored in the mind of man, and he who would
know God must first know man.
M.T. II, 125

4. Make no offer to the Law which you are not fully prepared to have
accepted.
M.T. I, 247

5. The Heart of God is the container of the divine in all things and
creatures, and therefore of the divine in thee.
M.T.I, 185

6. No thing or being lives to itself or is sufficient unto itself.

T.T. I, 67

7. It is a law of physics that no two things can occupy the same space at
the same time. If man would behold God, he must first destroy the
image of self.
T.T. I, 73

8. You may joy in the gratitude of another, but you may not demand
that gift as your right.
T.T. I, 350

9. As man learns to recognize his interdependence with all mankind and

with all nature, he shares in each springtime the gentle but all
encompassing beauty of his own growth.
T.A., Ed. Mirror, 1928, 350

10. We are pictures painted on the screen of Nature by our own

thoughts, desires and aspirations.

not fruitless when a true motive actuates them.
B.F., 31

12. “Clean hands, a pure heart and boundless Charity, are the first
requisites of a would-be Occultist.”
H.

13. We cannot understand matter without understanding spirit. One is

the perfect reflection and correspondence of the other.
O.B. I, 15

14. Place within the Jewel casket all the gems which thou hast gathered
the yearly cycle past, the gems of rich experience, good or ill, and then
return the casket to its hiding place within thy heart where only may the
gems be safe which thou hast found throughout this earthly round.

15. Good is all powerful. Evil, or darkness, can always be dissipated by

good – Light.
T.T. I, 297

16. Love washes out all bitterness, all fear and hate, and makes a place
of peace where once was only strife.
M.T. I, 171

17. Nature does not work by tremendous jumps from one state of life to
another. True growth is slow growth; and character of great crises or
climaxes in the past is a good criterion for judging the character of those
to come.
T.T. I, 409

18. Remember, sacrifice is the law of all life and progress.

T.T. I, 347

19. The soul of man is continuously urging him on to reach from one
height to another. It knows it can never be satisfied until it becomes
conscious of its unity with the Godhead.
T.T. I, 557

20. Faith is a tender plant. It will not bear the storms of Hate,
Suspicion or Neglect. Its very tenderness is the Love and tenderness of
God.
M.T. I, 193

20
April-cont.

21. As a lily raiseth its head to the sun, so raise thou thy soul to God,
that the dew of Divine Love may search out and help to uncover its
hidden Heart of Gold.
M.T. I, 270

22. All forces operate from within outward, whether they be creative
forces or otherwise. Hidden causes should be searched for in the Heart
at the Center of all things.
O.B. I, 53

23. It is only in the processes of growth that man may satisfy his soul.
M.T. II, 84

24. For life is the school wherein you learn – learn to love and serve your
fellow man in his divinely appointed task of regeneration; and in that
loving and serving do you truly find your own redemption in God and the
Christ.
M.T. II, 130

25. As gushes forth the spring of water over the thirsty soil, heedless of
where its drops may fall, delighted, reveling in its power to give - even to
the uttermost - so gushes from the heart of the child of love, pure
gratitude.
M.T. I, 55

26. The Christ belongs to all and is working potently to uplift humanity
to a knowledge of man’s divinity and Oneness with the great Spiritual
Father of all.
M.T. II, 32

27. The sun shines alike on the good and on the evil; the dew and the
rain fall alike on the just and on the unjust; the earth yields its treasures

principle is involved – labor.

after age knowing his confidence will be betrayed, his best laid plans
defeated, his great ideals despised; but knowing also that some time the
God in man will triumph, knowing that - notwithstanding his present
unworthiness and weakness - man is still worth serving.
T.T. I, 64

30. When thou hast cleansed thine own heart that the Light of the sun
of Divine Love may shine clearly through its meshes, then shalt thou see
clearly to cleanse thy brother’s heart, and mayhap, thou wilt not then
find so much of evil in thy brother’s as now thou thinkest.

human soul, for there is nothing else in the wide universe that justifies
the bestowal of immortality upon man.
T.T. I, 403

9. As powerful as is the action of Will, there is another form of Force

with which you are all more or less familiar, which is equally great, but
which has been slighted or neglected in modern Occultism. This force is
expressed by the word “Gratitude.”
T.T. I, 9

24

toward spiritual supremacy.
T.T. I, 230

11. Build a center, a fulcrum in your own inner self, where the love of

you.
T.T. I, 198

12. As well as you know that two and two make four, you know that a

vibration; and these vibrations are perceived, interpreted at will by the
practical Occultist, that is, by one who has developed the inner senses.
T.T. II, 30

18. Man is a microcosm in a macrocosm. There is no force or power in

the Universe but may be found in him.

21. Trifle not by thought, word or deed with anything, for everything is a
part of God or the Higher Self – the Beauty of Holiness.
Master’s Message, 1938

22. Take heart, be strong, be glad! The horn of the orchestra of life

joyous contentment, the waters of blessing and happiness. Harken to
the strain.
Y.F. 11

23. You must allow yourselves to open the inner ear more devoutly to
the Silent Language of the Blessed One. Those who listen and learn to

29. Learn from Nature, for Nature always knows what to do and how to

Master’s Message 1937

30. Remember that the touch of a loving hand, the low soft word of f
sympathy, condolence and compassion spoken by your brother or sister

servitor, comforter and coadjutor; that the love welling up in your hearts
unselfishly, is, as it were, the Breath of God outbreathed by yourselves.

1. Would you feel My Presence near? Seek within.

R.F. 3, 8

2. A man’s personal religion should be the school of his soul.

T.T. I, 556

3. Ah, my child, again I say you need not concern yourself with the
results of any righteous act.
T.T. I, 350

4. There is not a cubit’s width of void space in the Universe. The Ocean
of Ether, the self-luminous imponderable substance which fills and
molds all space is, in a sense, the shield or garment of the Infinite.
T.T. I, 6

5. Time has no existence in the Divine Mind.

T.T. I, 202
6. You should never lay by a statement of fact until you have mastered

T.T. I, 194

7. The circumference of the circle cannot touch the point in the center
T.T. I, 306

T.T. I, 87

9. So, you cannot observe the entire Self of another individual without
the aid of another reflector, i.e., without the clear, pure energy of the
Christ Love, which throws so strong a reflection, that you may be able to
perceive the inner Self as well as the outer semblance of that other.
T.T. I, 167

10. But the wise man also knows that back of every tide, every
movement of sun, stars and planets, every cycle of manifestation, is a
Supreme Power which governs all, a Power which operates at the center
of all things – the place of peace – the point where motion ceases and
unity reigns, and that he must be aligned to that Power if he would
succeed. T.T.I, 331

11. The wisdom of the ages is compressed in the words spoken by

Jesus, “Not my will, but Thine be done.” It is only prayers preceded by
that sentence and winged by an unselfish love, that asks only to love, not
for love, that Omnipresence can answer.
T.T. I, 52

12. Only pure spirit is invulnerable, incorruptible. However slight its

encasement, or contact with matter, a condition comparable to an alloy
of gold and lead exists from the union of matter and spirit. In the former
instance, the gold may be separated by means of fire; in the latter
instance, Spirit may be separated from matter by means of suffering
which constitutes one aspect of experience.
T.T. I, 33

1. On the four lower planes all fire has in it Light with Heat – the
analogue of passion. On the three Higher Planes all Fire has in it Light
without Heat – the analogue of Compassion.
Theo St 1, Sl 122, Com #4, 51

2. When thou shalt see aright and find thy divinity within the infinitely
small, so, thou shalt near thy goal.
M.T. II, 105

3. In order that he shall not always walk in ignorance, from darkness to

deeper darkness, the Inner Winds of Life are loosed within humanity at
the Season of Man Know Thyself and are allowed to take their courses
until their work is fulfilled.
R.F. 7 (15)

4. Guard each thought, word and deed.

R.F. 8

5. Life’s opportunities, like angels visitants, pass swiftly, silently – and if

we fail to catch the first faint echo of their coming footfalls or, all
untrained to action swift, we fail to seize and force them to reveal their
hidden power, their passing is for aye.

6. The cross of balance will become the crown of all knowledge and

33
July-cont.

11. Man is a microcosm, a little universe in himself, and has actually or

potentially represented in him all the forces of nature.
Basic Principles of B

12. Love is the most potent form of energy in the Universe, and he who
has won the power to control it, has at his command all lesser forms of
force; but it is that form of Love that gives all instead of that which takes
all; for, paradoxical as it seems, and difficult to comprehend,
renunciation is equivalent to possession.
T.T. 111

13. Spirit and Matter are two poles of Universal Consciousness, and all
the intermediate stages between these poles are the battle-grounds and
laboratories where countless Souls – Sparks of the Infinite Fire – win or
loose the right to eternal individual conscious life; and where
transmutation of gross matter into precious Spiritual Energy is carried
on through each great cycle of Time.
T.T. 33

14. The nearest we can come to a comprehension of Intelligence as an

element is to study its manifestation as Oxygen.
T.T. 282

15. What matters it what name you give it, whether it be God, Love,
Attraction, Gravitation, Law, or Life? It is all names in one name, all
words in one word.
T.T. 82

16. The three higher of the seven planes of manifestation are

incomprehensible and eternal so far as any possible computation of time
or exercise of mentality by a human being is concerned; so in trying to
understand the planes, states of consciousness, laws and all that
pertains to them, you will save much valuable time and mental force by
confining your efforts to the study of the four lower – the reflected planes,
for some time to come.
T.T. 165

17. Words are but symbols, which change and pass away, while
knowledge is eternal, and words must be vitalized, impregnated with
pranic force, to give them even temporary endurance; and this can only
be done in concentration. It is in the parturition pains of concentration
that the power of perception is born – or, to be a little more exact, is
transferred from the spiritual to the mental plane.
T.T. 122

34
July-cont.

18. If you refuse to learn the alphabet of life, you can never understand
or speak the language.
T.T. 119

19. All Matter and Substance is septenary, and each of its states is
graduated in seven degrees of density, and each state reflects the
qualities and potencies of some one of the seven major divisions or Rays
of the Infinite.
T.T. 106

20. The language of God is the natural and divine Word made Manifest
in terms of worlds, creatures and things on all planes and in all fields of
cosmic – celestial and terrestrial – activity. All these creatures, worlds
and things are but Symbols of a reality in Absolute Being. Therefore
Symbolism is the language of the Higher Self.
O.B. 2nd Series #3

21. In one sense the world you live in is created by yourselves; its
changes are wrought by your own living.
Master’s Message, Convention 1975

22. The brain of man is an epitome of the whole man, as man is the
epitome of the Universe.
T.T. 2nd Series 40

23. Beautiful, powerful as is the light which streams from the sun of this
solar system, it is dwarfed into apparent insignificance by the true light,
that which was sent to lighten the Cosmos, the Son-Sun, the first and
the last.
T.T. 2nd Series 26

24. There is no true growth without sacrifice either of soul or body, or of

any growing thing in nature. In other words, Life and Light cannot
manifest without the sacrifice – yielding up – or changing one substance
into another.
O.B. 2nd Series V1

25. Love is the greatest thing in life, because it comprises, compounds,

and correlates all lesser things.
T.T. 582

26. To the pure in heart, the honest unselfish seeker, Nature opens her
wonderful eyes and permits him to look into their depths, to touch, taste
and handle with spiritual organs her vast treasures of wisdom and
knowledge.
B.F. 15

27. True knowledge is the sensing and realization of an inner light back
of every fact, and which light can only be known by actual identification
with it, mentally and spiritually.
The Temple Light, W.H.D.

28. A universe, as comprehended by man, is a manifestation of Deity –

unity – expressing itself in diversity.
Principles of the Temple, H.E.F.

29. All things and beings are on the evolutionary path, All are a part of
God.
The Temple, H.E.F.

and one humanity constantly striving to utter that life,

T.T. I, 5

7. The possessor of faith can do much more than remove the proverbial

T.T. I 255

8. The term faith has been made interchangeable with the term belief,
while in fact they are two poles of one potent force. Belief is lost in faith.
T.T. I, 255

9. Lack of faith in the eternal fitness of things, and in Divine Justice,

desire to escape the results of action, and above all, impatience with
what seems the slow processes of time, plunge man back over and over
again into the whirlpool of rebellion and discontent from which he is
feebly endeavoring to escape.

T.T. I, 52

14. As tomorrow and yesterday are but incidents in a cycle of time, so

the I Was of our passing Self, and the I Come of the Newly Manifesting

T.T. I, 39

15. There is nothing, not an atom in all the Cosmos brought into
manifestation by and through eternal Law that is unworthy the serious,
reverent consideration of the mind of man; and when it comes to the
study and examination of those eternal Laws which are all but intelligible
and indescribable save by correspondence and analogy, the soul bows in
true humility, whatever the limited mind dares to express.
T.T. 2nd Series,25

16. No man is ever great or wise of himself; he is only so by comparison.

T.T. 2nd Series, 5

17. Learn to live; trust God for dying. The latter is His business, the

He who would tell thee that the Christ doth speak to him in words
deceives himself and thee. By deeds of Love and Justice the Christ must

TRUTH

1. Would you not climb the Heights and be partaker of their nobility and
grandeur, their power, might, and soothing balm: Unto the hills lift your
eyes, and there you shall find the Help for which you seek and crave. To
the Hills! To the Heights within Yourselves!
R.F. 25 (53)

2. Like the cooling shade of a distant mountain to the wayborn traveler,

when facing the blazing sun on a barren desert, is the realization of
Infinite Love, Understanding and Compassion to the weary travel-stained
soul on its life-journey.
Mt.T. II, 101

3. Let thy heart sing! O my Soul. For it sings of God – and of Angel’s

poised, compassionate, nobler be? Would you learn and admit your
faults and make them good by better living? Then seek within.
R.F. 3 (8)

5. The Heart of God is the container of the Divine in all things and
creatures, and therefore of the Divine in thee.
Mt.T. I, 185

6. Remember that ye are as a half sung melody, a single verse of an epic

poem, and know that both melody and verse will one day help to swell
the grand chorus with power to lift the waves of the ocean of life so high
that ye may pass, on their crests to a glory unspeakable – the glory of
your Divine inheritance.
Mt.T. II, 34

7. Love more, and the love ye bestow will break through the shadows, as
the sun breaks through the clouds, and its light will shine forever and a
day on the finished work of God – His own Diviner Self – God-made man
and man–made God in One.
Mt.T. II, 34

17. Until we are able to perceive the truth intuitively from a higher
source by taking the statements of others or the messages from a higher
source into the Silence and permitting the light of Soul to shine through
and lighten the hidden places, we are at the mercy of the destructive
forces of life.

life, hold treasures vast beyond computing, for in these treasures lie the
first faint shadowing, the first beginnings of the seed of all the flowers of
spirit – the seed of the Eternal.

law, the same motion, rules both body and soul. Life is a unit,
indivisible. Consciousness alone differentiates.

4. The Winds of Life sweep at certain periodical intervals for the same
reason and even greater exactitude than the winds of outer nature blow,
that whatever be withered, useless, dead and obstructing the way of
growth, may be swept from the Path that the new and better may live
and bloom.
R.F. 5 (12)

5. It is the Hero Path of Life you walk.

T.T. 1, 581

11. The action of Karmic Law in the affairs of nations and men, as in the
Cosmos, is of all things most interesting, though too often
incomprehensible to the average student. In the depths of every living
soul there resides a sense of abstract justice and a feeling of abhorrence
toward its opposite, or what is commonly termed injustice, due to the
operation of two poles of one inherent quality or state of substance which
manifests as wisdom.

“Do unto others as you would that they should do unto you,” is beyond

Law; for it is a Universal Law and whoever violates it brings upon himself
or herself the karmic action of that Law.

tittle less than the ultimate value of the opportunity.
T.T. I, 167

18. You must cleanse your own mind and make sure the reflections
cast upon it by Divine Love are not intercepted by shadows of your own
making, before you presume to judge your brother or sister, if so be you
would become a true reflector of the Deific vibrations.

is due to the Law of supply and demand.

28. The middle path is the path of the Christ, the path of reconstruction.
Standing firmly on this middle path, we have the power to draw on the
