Beginner’s Course Day 10

Session 10
KNOWLEDGE: Students will know & understand:
Learning Outcomes ● Introduction to Mary Had A Little Lamb:
○ With Left hand
System:
1. PC/Laptop with a working mic and front camera.
2. A 49/61-keys keyboard/digital piano.
Requirements 3. A working Internet connection.
Practice:
1. Self-Practice 15-20 minutes a day to make rapid progress
Qualifying Knowledge Prerequisites for this lesson include:
1. Introduction to the instrument:
a. Piano, its parts and the similarities and differences
between piano and keyboard.
b. Musical alphabets, key names and fInger number
systems for piano/keyboard.
2. Introduction to the C scale:
a. C Scale,
b. Its notes,
c. Its finger positions and
d. Basic Repetitive Exercises on C scale
3. Introduction to Mary Had A Little Lamb (With Right hand):
a. The Notes and Finger Positions for the notes.
Day 10:
1. Introduction to Mary Had A Little Lamb (With Left hand):
a. Listening to the song
Curriculum Structure b. Understanding Notes of the song
c. Understanding Finger Positions for the notes
d. Playing the song with the left hand fingers in the lower
octave

Due to various social backgrounds, interests and multiple intelligences,


the classroom might be a diverse arena. The following techniques can
be used for various groups:

For gifted students:


​Challenging compositions and improvisations according to their
Addressing classroom potential which can help them to have a better understanding of folk
diversity music.

For weak students:


​Extra time with a music teacher can be provided for reference.
​Buddy help can be provided.

For differently abled students:


​Ignore little mistakes.
​ all parents at regular intervals.

​Keep motivating them and give them more chances.

Day 10:

● Introduction to Mary Had A Little Lamb (With Right hand):


○ The facilitator would initiate the session by asking the
students to play the song, Mary Had A Little Lamb, with
the right hand.
○ After a quick revision with the right hand, the facilitator
would then proceed towards the left hand.
The Transaction ○ First of all, the facilitator would explain the change in
finger number positions for the left hand.
○ Secondly, the facilitator would explain that the notes
remain the same, just the octave needs to be changed.
○ So, the right hand plays in the middle octave and the left
hand plays in the lower octave.
○ The facilitator would demonstrate how to play the song
with the left hand.
○ The students would follow the directions given by the
facilitator with regard to notes and finger positions.

Self-Study/ Day 10:
Assignments 1. The students would be required to practice the song, Mary Had
A Little Lamb, with the left hand, for at least 5 times each day
till the next session.

Day 3:
Testing, 1. Last 5 minutes of the session would be kept aside for a quick
Measurements brush-up of all the concepts discussed in the session.
& Assessments  2. The facilitator may ask students a few questions to assess how
much the students have understood the concepts discussed in
the session.
