Project Design
I. Title: RESPONSIBOTTLE
II. Description
RESPONSIBOTTLE is a proposed project by the Supreme Student Government Federation that
is anchored on one of the core values of DepEd which is Makakalikasan that aims to lessen the
waste brought by plastic bottles and the same time, making use of it by converting it into
something useful like chairs, fabrics and etc. This is initiated and will be conducted by the SSG
Federation under the supervision of Hon. Jerson Cabunillas.
A huge fenced basket will be distributed to all the Secondary Schools under the Carcar City
Division. It is a customized basket that can cater up to 100 plastic water bottles and will be
placed on the corners of each school. It will be collected according to its schedule time of
collection in order to empty it and placed it again on its designated places so that students can fill
it again.
The SSG Federation will be coordinating to all the school heads upon its implementation to
disseminate the instructions. They will also be seeking assistance to the Division Office and a
strict regulation will be conducted to ensure compliance.
III. Objectives
The RESPONSIBOTTLE Campaign aims to:
A. Reduce high rates of plastic pollution
B. Promote Modern Waste Reduction
C. Produce brand new plastic products
IV. Rationale
Many people rely on the benefits and convenience that theses plastic water bottles could
offer especially to the life of the students. Single-use plastic is a cheap and convenient way to
drink on the go, requiring little preparation and clean-up. However, The low cost and
convenience of plastic sachets, as well as inefficient waste disposal, has made the Philippines
one of the world’s leading plastic polluters with 1.5 million plastic bottles collected per year
War against the plastic waste has shifted focus towards schools, and students are
becoming keenly aware of the challenges we facing due to society’s dependence on disposability
and convenience. It is children who will inherit a planet overflowing with waste produced and
discarded over decades by billions of people, most of which ends up in our oceans and
waterways.
The Department of Education (DepEd) strengthens and reinforces the integration of
environmental education in the elementary and high school curriculum through the introduction
of several programs in accordance with one of its core values, Makakalikasan. A study shows
that plastic bottles can be turned into chairs and other useful materials that can be utilized at
school so RESPONSIBOTTLE is a perfect project implementation to for this vision.
