Annotation Template for Teacher I-III (Proficient Teacher)

lesson.
• In establishing the purpose of the lesson, Effective
questioning techniques (by Jacquelyn Adams, 2019) was used
in which “Ask, pause, call” approach was introduced.
•In my presentation of examples or instances of the new
lesson, I applied “Picture Tells” approach ( Alerby, E., &
Bergmark, U.,2012). Five pictures of kitchen tools and
equipment were presented then processing questions were
asked.
•During the discussion, I used Viewing strategy (Giorgis, 1999)
that aims the students to interpret the meaning of visual
images. Viewing as a language skills is defined as the process
of understanding visual texts that come in various formats,
such as TV shows, advertisements, films, videos, and images.
In short, viewing is the
act of reading visual cues.
•I also did an actual demonstration on the uses and functions
of some kitchen tools and equipment. Demonstration method
is a teaching method used to communicate an idea with the
aid of visuals such as flip charts, posters, power point, etc. It is
also a process of teaching someone how to make or do
something in step-by-step process. (Khan , February 5,2020)
•In the collaborative task, at least one learner are instructed
to re-demonstrate the process. This is a “Learning by Doing”
approach (John Dewey and Paulo Freire, April 2017). A hands-
on approach to learning, meaning students must interact with
their environment in order to adapt and learn.
•In Finding practical applications of concepts and concepts
and skills in daily living, differentiated activity was employed
wherein students will choose the activity that best suits their
interest. According to Tomlinson (2005),a differentiated
instruction is a philosophy of teaching that is based on the
premise that students learn best when their teachers
accommodate the differences in their readiness
levels,interests and learning profiles.
• Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson, I
used the PMI STRATEGY (Plus, Minus, Interesting) wherein
learners will have brainstorming, decision making and exercise
the critical thinking. It is used to encourage the examination of
ideas, concepts and experiences from more than one
perspective. PMI was developed by Dr. Edward de Bono, a
proponent of lateral and critical thinking. This strategy will
develop your brainstorming ideas, decision making quickly,
reflect or evaluate a product and helps you identify the
strength and weaknesses for improvement.
•In my evaluation, I assess the learners through a pen and
paper test. According to Jatindervir Kaur (August 23,2021) the
approach of evaluating someone’s intelligence, by written
examinations is not a good way as believed by majority of the
individuals.
