This method statement is for trial hole excavation works by Team Tec Construction Pte Ltd as a sub-contractor for Addcel Engineering Pte Ltd. The works include site preparation, cable detection, excavation of trial holes up to 1.9m depth manually, installation of timber shoring, backfilling and compaction. Introduction

This proposal of methods to be used for Cable Detection, manual excavation up to


1.9m depth, shoring, backfilling, compaction, re-instate turfs.
 Site preparation & Investigation

The following statement covers the method of statement of the above said job.
Site Preparation &Investigations

 Relevant permits will be prepared by Client and approved by authorized person


prior to start work.
 Cable detection will be carried out as per the Layout Drawings.
 Excavation location to be mark as per marked drawing and witnessed by client.
 All equipment & tools should be in good condition prior to mobilize to site and all
the hand tools.
 Provide the Barricade along the work area.

Site survey & Marking


 Site preparation, marking &setting out will be carried out as per Client instruction
received.
 All marking will be witnessed by client prior to start work.

Equipments & Tools


 Plate compactor
 Shovel
 Hoe
 Wheel barrow
 Hammer

Procedure / Work Sequence

Mobilization / Demobilization of Tools


 Loading / Unloading of tools by using 10foot lorry.
 Tools are delivered the allocated storage area possible to where they will be
used.
 All the vehicle movements controlled by banksman.

Cable Detection Works
 Cable detection shall be carried out & clear drawing with indication shall be in
place before starting any excavation works.
 Cable detection works to be carried out by third party and the results has been
submitted to Client in advanced prior to start works.
 All the underground services marked by spray paint and highlight in site layout
Drwg.
Trial hole Excavation works
 Manual excavation tools such as hoe and spade all the hand tools should be in
good condition.
 During excavation, worker to position himself on firm ground so that he does not
loose balance.
 Worker will work in a safe distance interval in between each other.
 Manually excavate the soil layer by layer and throw 1m away from the excavated
zone. In-case of any rain stockpile should be covered with canvas.
 Excavation depth will be until 1.9m.
 During excavation if we found any underground facilities, STOP work and
highlighted to the Client immediately.
 Entry and Exit access will be provided at both sides of the trench.
Timber Shoring works
 After the excavation timber shoring will be provided along the excavated trench.
 All the shoring props and support should be rigid.
 After completion of excavation works the shoring will be removed by manually.
Backfilling & Compaction works
 After the completion of timber shoring dismantling works and trenches shall be
cleaned and free of wooden waste or trash.
 Backfilling with excavated material and free of waste material such as wooden or
other organic materials.
 Backfilling shall be carried out in layer and compact using plate compactor.

Housekeeping
 Work area shall be maintained clear of scattered tools and materials.
 Equipment & tools shall be kept in one place such that is does not obstruct the
work activity which may cause tripping hazards.
 At the end of daily activity, all the tools shall be stored and kept in one place
away from obstruction.
 Good housekeeping should be maintained at all time.
