I. Course Overview
In a constantly changing VUCA world, most organizations need to be geared up for
overhauling regularly. With frequent changes in technology, effects of globalization and
markets vulnerable to competitions, the demands are same on small and large
organisations. For this, two things become critical : A visionary leadership and an
organizational agility to transform. This is done through a careful process of creating
learning organizations and having human resources who are adaptable to different
conditions and truly believe in the company’s values and leadership.
This course focuses on environmental demands on the organizations, their need for
change and how to understand the nature and dynamics of interpersonal behavior related
to organizational performance and effectiveness by providing an understanding of theory
and research of behavioral sciences.
The course begins with understanding of the environmental dynamics, which effect
markets and businesses as a whole. It provides an understanding of change and types of
changes that can be brought about as a proactive or reactive strategy. It strongly focuses
on identifying the need for change , taking the decision and a strategy level and then
consequently envisioning the change that would be implemented.
Further, the course also focuses on creating an organizational readiness to change, dealing
with resistance to change, which is a natural human reaction. The course would help
managers/entrepreneurs to learn different strategic interventions like techno- structural
interventions, HRM interventions, intergroup and third party interventions. The course
would finally deal with topics like motivation. Social perception , interpersonal influence,
group decision making, commitment and leadership. The course will aim to help
managers/ entrepreneurs organize and motivate human capital of a firm, execute
strategic change through knowledge of competitive decision-making, reward system,
social network analysis and team building.
II. Course Learning Outcomes (CLO)
At the end of the course, the students shall be able to:
1. Acquire theoretical and practical understanding of concepts and principles of change
management.
2. Analyze critically and evaluate business situations for developing change agenda.
3. Demonstrate skills to manage change as an entrepreneur and business owner.
