Measuring Position and Technique
Standard Measuring Requirement:
a. All measurement are to be taken with the garment laid on a flat surface, as crease free as
possible.
b. All measurements are to be taken with buttons, zippers and pleats fully close, unless
otherwise stated on the spec sheet.
c. All garments are to be measured front side up, unless the special requirement on spec sheet.
d. All circumference measurements are taken as half the full measurement.
IMPORTANT: All measurements considered important to help to achieve the good fit and balance
are to be stated on spec sheet.

Across Front - Measure between front armhole seams at a designated distance from the neck shoulder

T1A Across front – cami - Measure straight across front, apex to apex,(inside)
Chest width-2cms below armhole (straight) - Measure straight across from left to right 2cms below

Armhole depth - Measure straight from armhole seam at shoulder to underarm point on front of

garment.
T6A ½ armhole circumference - Measure from shoulder point at armhole to underarm point along the curve.
Front armhole curve - Measure along the front armhole curve from shoulder seam point to underarm

point on front.
T7A Front armhole curve – cami - Measure from underarm point to apex along the curve
T7B Front armhole – raglan - Measure the front armhole along the curve excluding neck trim.
T8 Shoulder slope - Establish the imaginary line at N.S.P and measure straight down to the shoulder point.
T9 Front length from N.S.P - Measure from N.S.P over bust area to the bottom edge of the garment.
Front length from apex – Cami
T9A
Measure the length from the apex to the hem.
T10 Bicep - Measure straight across parallel to the sleeve opening at underarm.
Elbow width - Measure straight across parallel to the sleeve opening at a designated position from

sleeve top.
Cuff opening - Measure straight across from edge to edge of cuff opening with the button closed if

applicable.
Sleeve Length from set sleeve shoulder seam - Measure from shoulder point to sleeve opening edge

along top of sleeve.
T13A Sleeve Length from N.S.P - Measure from N.S.P to sleeve opening edge along top of sleeve.
Back armhole curve - Measure along the back armhole curve from shoulder seam point to underarm

point on back.
T14A Back armhole – raglan - Measure the armhole along the curve excluding the neck trim.
T15 Crown to crown - Measure straight across left shoulder point to right shoulder point at back shoulder
T15A Shoulder length - Measure along the shoulder seam from the N.S.P to the armhole seam.
Across back - Measure between back armhole seams at a designated distance from the neck shoulder

T17 Centre back (CB) length - Measure from the centre back neck seam to the bottom edge of the garment.
T18 Shirt Tail Height - Measure straight across from right side to left side of bottom hem, and then measure
the total height of tail.

T19 Collar point width - Measure from collar point edge to collar joining seam.
T20 Collar stand height - Measure from neck joining seam to Neck band edge at CB.
T21 Upper collar height - Measure from neck band seam to collar edge at CB.

T22 Neck Circumference - Measure from buttonhole edge to button centre.

T27 Sleeve Slit length - Measure from the cuff joining seam to the top of the slit.

Hood opening - Measure from the front neckline joining seam to the top of hood along the hood

Back Neck Drop from Imaginary line - Establish the imaginary line from neckline seam at N.S.P,

High Hip circumference – 3 Point Measure
MP4 3 point measuring method. Specify distance from waist top edge down side seam, at this
point measure parallel to the waist curve
Lower Hip circumference – 3 Point Measure

point measure parallel to the waist curve.

Measure from crotch joining seam and along inside edge of leg panel to bottom edge of leg opening.

Measure straight from top to bottom of pocket opening at pocket edge.
Fly length

Measure from bottom of J –stitch to top of waist edge. Must be including all top stitching.
