SCRIPT FOR THE JOB INTERVIEW

INTERVIEWER (HR Manager):


INTERVIEWEE (Applicant):

INTERVIEWER: Next applicant, please!


Applicant enters the room, is welcomed by the HR manager and is shown
her seat.
INTERVIEWER: Good morning! Welcome to XYZ Company. Please take a
seat.

Applicant sits down, takes out a pen, a small notebook and her folder of
application and places them on the desk.

INTERVIEWEE: I have brought along my folder of application.

Applicant hands it over to the HR manager.

INTERVIEWER: Great! But first would you like something to drink?

INTERVIEWEE: Yes, a glass of water would be wonderful.

HR manager goes and gets a glass of water.

INTERVIEWEER: Okay, so let’s start. Let me introduce myself first. I am


_________________, Human Resource Manager of XYZ Company, your
interviewer for today. I will just ask a few questions here so relax and make
yourself comfortable. Now having read your folder of application I know that
you already have 5 years of work experience from 2 different companies.
Could you please tell me about yourself?

INTERVIEWEE: Good morning ma’am! My name is __________________.


I am __ years old, currently residing at ________________. I am a
graduate of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. Recently, I passed the
licensure examination for accountancy which credited me as a Certified
Public Accountant. I have been a bank teller in my previous company for
about 3 years and I also worked as an audit assistant in a private company
for 2 years. As for my skills, I have the qualities to match the job
description, and to perform highly in the role. I am a hardworking, creative
thinker and enthusiastic person who understand how important work is to
my overall happiness. Also I love learning new things and am always on the
lookout for new opportunities to develop and grow within my role. I'm a
good communicator with strong analytical skills. If I am successful today, I
can assure you that I will bring a great deal of experience, loyalty and
positive qualities to your company.

INTERVIEWER: What are your strengths and weaknesses?

INTERVIEWEE: I have many positive qualities and attribute to bring to this


role, but I believe my main key strengths are I have a hard working nature,
I am always looking for the positives in every situation, I like to support and
help others. About my weaknesses, I do have one weakness and that is I
can have trouble asking for help. Because I am independent and enjoy
working quickly, it has been difficult for me to ask for help when I need it.
While I am still working on it, I have been able to produce more high-quality
work as a result of getting help from those around me.

INTERVIEWER: Why do you want to work here?

The applicant pauses and makes a sip for a glass of water to calm and to
think for a while.

INTERVIEWEE: Having studied the person specification and job description


for this role, I feel I have the skills, qualities and attributes to carry out the
job to a very high standard. I also feel the role will give me a new, fresh
challenge; something which I have been looking for some time now. If I am
successful, I plan to stay with you for a long time, so it was good to see that
you empty happy, positive people within your team.

INTERVIEWER: What is your biggest accomplishment?


INTERVIEWEE: My greatest accomplishment occurred in my previous role
where I helped the company increase sales. This was achieved by improving
customer service standards and by thinking of different ways to help the
business market its product via social media.
INTERVIEWER: How do you handle stress and pressure?
INTERVIEWEE: I actually prefer to work under stress stressful or
pressurized conditions because this is when I am at my best. I handle stress
and pressure by focusing on the task in hand, by remaining calm and by
creating lists of what needs to be done and in what order. I also handle
stress and pressure by making sure I keep myself fit and healthy. I eat well
and doing some exercises. By doing these things it enables me to maintain
optimum concentration levels whilst at work.

INTERVIEWER: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?


INTERVIEWEE: I see myself hopefully working for your company either in
the same role or having gained advancement to a higher level. In 5 years, I
would have also developed significantly and be seen as a trusted, reliable
and productive member of the company.

INTERVIEWER: Okay, that’s it. Thank you for having an interest to our
company. For now, I’ll end this conversation. An email and text will arrive
for at least 2-3 days. Always check your emails and text to get updated.
