INTRODUCTION

Background of the study

Pigs are an adaptable and rapidly growing species that may be attractive
for small and beginning farmers seeking to incorporate livestock into their farm.
Although these estimates are not universal, they are a starting point for
developing a plan to raise pigs.

There is a wide variety of breeds and types of pigs available to small and
beginning pig farmers. Differences in mature size, growth rate and reproductive
rate will impact the amount of feed and other resources needed to successfully
raise differently types of pigs. Heritage or rare breeds of hogs are often an
attractive choice for small farms because of their uniqueness. Unfortunately,
there is little published performance data available production information
relating to these types of pigs is anecdotal or general. Even within a relatively
well-known breed such as the Berkshire there can be large variation in
performance between genetics lines.

Healthy pigs grow faster and more efficiently than pigs that are sick or
injured. Becoming familiar with normal pig behavior in order to quickly identify
and treat pigs that are injured or sick is important for becoming pig farmers.
Thermal environment is the combined effect of air temperature, moisture and air
flow on a pig. The thermal neutral zone is the range of temperatures at which the
pig maintains body temperature through control of sensible neat loss.

The pig grows fast and is a prolific breeder, farrowing 10-12 piglets at a
time. It is corporate of producing two litters per year under good management
conditions. The car case yield is high 65-80% of live weight, with a small
investment on building and equipment, proper breeding and sound disease

MARKETING
ASPECT
The number of respondents in support of the proposed business project,
which is a piggery farm, can be used to project the feasibility of the proposed
business in Barangay Paniabonan using the data gathered. The price will be
determined by the market price or demand of the existing product that consumers
and buyers consume, as well as the demand and supply for efficient and effective
product service. The survey that we conducted will be used to determine the
price. According to the survey, during the next five years, the number of
customers will increase

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Piggery farm business aim to be able to fill in the gap caused by the
community; misconception of piggery from peculiar odor. Aside from that, this
also ensures that they would buy the best price and they can save money the need
for themselves and surely they would have assured the quality of the product.
Piggery business is going to be the first piggery farm business to be established
in Mabinay Negros Oriental which is considered as a “high class” municipality
that belongs in the Province of Negros Oriental. Though it is located a little for
from the market but still it is accessible to every prospect customers and buyers
by visiting or calling through our business contact number.

TARGET MARKET DISCRIPTION

The proposed study will target one distinct which is a piggery farm that
vary in the good quality of meat. Our target market will be the people living in
the Municipality of Mabinay especially in the Brgy. Paniabonan such as parents
in different households and young individuals who buy and eat pork for their
family as part of their daily lifestyle and personal usage. Other possible target
market will be those establishments who purchase pig’s meat their food in
restaurants and for consumers to obtain the product conveniently. The business
aims its promotion too.

DEMAND STUDY

The purpose of this study is to determine the demand of the piggery farm
production so that project will be designed according to their needs and
expectation. Although this is located at a very strategic location here in Brgy.
Paniabonan, we will have had to conduct a market research on who are likely to
be and hoe best we would draft the strategies that will allow us gain on huge of
a target market. The target market of this project are parents and young
individuals, fast food and meat shop.

SUPPLY STUDY
The researchers believe that the demand of pork meat is high,
relevant and significant to the respondents due its absence of piggery in Mabinay
and with those people which are far in the market will no longer have to go to
the market for buying pork meat because the supply is near to their house.
Besides the proposed business could assure the researcher that price would be
not so high than other pork meat. The product pricing will be economical that
will fit to the society’s income capacity and get customers satisfaction.

DEMAND SUPPLY ANALYSIS

Demand and Supply of pork, we found that the price of live pigs is
constrained by historical prices with strong inertia and believed that the
expectation of live pig prices is greatly affected by recent prices, while the
impact on historical prices more than one year is small. Behavioral economics
shows that people will make the linear speculative analysis of the recent situation
and then use it to imagine future trends. The calculated impact coefficient of
pork and the substitutes is only 0.15, indicating that substitutes have little impact
on pork consumption. When the residents’ income reaches a higher level, the
increase in income does not significantly change the consumption of pork. In
Mathematical Problems own business and ignore the plans of others, which leads
to the phenomenon of competitive neglect, which makes the behavior of farmers
consistent through the regression analysis of the agricultural output and price
changes and found that equilibrium prices usually lead to stable livestock

numbers. The above studies have conducted a detailed analysis of the factors
affecting the supply and demand of live pigs. The Price modeling is the most
difficult part of economic modeling. In some papers, it is unreasonable to adjust
the balance of supply and demand around the balanced price of live pigs. Market
does not know the true supply curve and demand curve, so the equilibrium price
cannot be assumed by calculating the average price of live pigs. Market decision
makers can only adjust prices through trial and error, gradually adjusting prices
to equilibrium prices. The process is called mountain climbing.

COMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENT

This feasibility study went into thorough assessment of the competitors

to understand their strengths and weaknesses knowing that their attributes so that
the proposed business will come up a certain competitive strategy as
advancement in attracting and retaining new customers.

The proposed business will be also a customer-centric establishment that

would understand and value of customers. Offering the best service and a good
quality of a pork meat as compared to the competitors to gain loyal and repeat
customers from the community.
