Activity 1: What I Know
Can you recognize a primary source from a secondary source? Of
the two images, what do you think is a primary source and what is a
secondary source?
- In some examples of data and information, we can easily
recognize the difference of primary source from a secondary
source like in old types of primary sources, most of them can’t be
copied like you can’t even tell the difference but with today’s
technology, it’s nearly possible.
- Of the two images, I think the primary source there is the one in
the right side because it shows the examples where you can
record different types primary sources as they occurred and
recorded by eye witnesses. Some of the examples are speeches,
scrapbooks, oral histories and etc. On the other hand, the
secondary source is on the left side which shows a lot of copies
and its objective is to interpret, explain and summarize primary
sources. Some examples of it are textbooks, biographies,
dictionaries, encyclopedias and etc.

Activity 4: I Can Do It
Below is one of several definitions of emotional (mental) wellness.
“Emotional wellness implies the ability to be aware of and accept
the feelings, rather than deny them, have an optimistic approach to life,
and enjoy life despite its occasional disappointments and frustrations. “
What is your reaction and insight to this statement? In relation to the
foregoing, write a three-paragraph Reaction Paper about mental
(emotional) wellness.
Reaction Paper
Achieving a high level of emotional (mental) wellness is always been
a dream to most of us because it’s really hard to achieve considering all
of the problems we face every day. It also takes a lot of risk, effort and
courage to start improving one’s emotional (mental) wellness and if all of
those things are wasted in one single mistake you made in your whole life,
it would be like a game restarting to zero and taking all the levels/ stages
again. But what are the benefits of having emotional (mental) wellness?
Would it be worth your time and effort to achieve such thing?
In today’s new normal of education, for us students, it’s been hard for
us lately. Depression, anxiety and other emotional (mental) illness is one of
the common causes of death nowadays because of huge amount of work
they making us do. That’s why I’ve been always reminding myself and my
friends to always remain calm in every situation you’re in so that you can
analyze and solve any problem you’re in. I always remind them because I
don’t want them to be like in the media that I always see like suiciding
because of stress from deadlines, mentally breaking down because of a
lot of school works and etc. Of course, I’ve been there, too. It’s frustrating
and it’s hard to get out of that situation but I remained calm, think of my
loved ones and believed in myself that I can do this and I am far from
achieving my goals in life so why should I give up, right? When it’s just one
of the obstacles that I will overcome.
Emotional (mental) moves self-care, unwinding, stress decrease and
the improvement of inward strength. It is imperative to be mindful to both
good and negative sentiments and have the option to see how to deal with
these feelings. Emotional (mental) wellness likewise incorporates the
capacity to take in and develop from encounters. It will be a huge impact
in our whole lives if we will attain to achieve emotional wellness that’s why
we need to start to be optimistic at all times and not think about non sense
negative things.

SELF-REFLECTION
How important are primary and secondary sources in your writing
assignments in school?
- I think It is very important to know the use and benefits of
primary and secondary sources specially when the instructions
are “AVOID PLAGIARISM”. It will also help if we need something
specifically like if we need more detailed data/information or a
briefer one so we pick among those two.
How do you gather these sources?
- In this modern age where you can find anything on the Internet,
gathering primary and secondary resources will be a piece of
cake. There a lot of Online Resources like National Archives, The
Avalon Project, DocsTeach and etc. where you can find primary
sources and you can just analyze and summarize those primary
sources so you can create secondary sources from it.
How do you ensure the quality of information of these sources?
- You need to check several times from other sources so you can
ensure the reliability, validity, accuracy, credibility and timeliness
of the information you acquire from the source.
How does the integration of these sources make your writing scholarly?
- It makes my writing more scholarly by allowing me to have the
ability to make all of the information I gathered from all of the
sources be more reliable, valid, accurate and credible so that
anyone who will read my writings will be impressed and
enlightened by my good choice of words in conveying the
data/information that I want them to know.
